Jen,

On the same day we sail on the BOB, you could sail on RCCL for 8 Nights out of Miami, in a Balcony room the size of DCL's to the following ports:

St. Maarten
St. Thomas
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Labadee, Haiti
3 total days at Sea

The total on this for 3 people is only $3,325. That is cheaper than DCL and you get an extra night.

Jen,

Here's one for you (and AFEG will yell at me for posting this).

NCL Boston to New Orleans, 16 Nights, in a Balcony room (granted a little smaller than DCL's) with the following itinerary, 10/23/09 - 11/08/09:

Boston
At Sea
At Sea
Samana, Dominican Republic
St. Thomas
Antigua
Barbados
At Sea
Curacao
Aruba
At Sea
At Sea
Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala
Belize City, Belize
Costa Maya, Mexico
At Sea
New Orleans

An are you sitting down for this?

The cost is.....

$4,178 for 2 Adults and a Child(9).

That is a heck of a deal.

:scared1:

Number boy remember your punishment?....It could a long "COLD" winter in number boy's house...:rolleyes1

- kids' clubs weren't "guaranteed" to run all the time, and were not open all the time.

Ooooh , I didnt know that!

Someday, Karen....some day we will come over for a visit! We SO want to go around the UK and look at castles and stuff. DH is a big history buff...he's love it for sure!

You'd be welcome anytime:goodvibes

C.V.?

don't work if you don't have to Karen...it makes you feel older than you are...:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know what you mean... I might send off the application form... havent decided yet. Deadline is noon on Friday:rolleyes1

Park does, ship doesn't (at least that is what I thought).

:thumbsup2

Ok, on to another topic....an off-topic topic, but here goes....

DS's kindergarten class is trying to do a postcard project this fall. What they would like is to send postcards to people in different parts of the country (or beyond) and receive a postcard from them in return.

If anyone would be willing/interested in participating, would you PM your address to me? You will receive a postcard from DS's kindergarten class here in WI, and they'd love to get a postcard in return. Their goal is to get a postcard from each of the 50 states, and also see if they can get postcards from farther away!

No pressure, just hoping to help DS's class! Thanks for listening. :goodvibes

I'll play!:yay:

Oct 2011?

Let's face it no one can touch Castaway, but from what I have seen RCCL have the onboard activities set better than DCL. We cruise Disney because it is a beautiful ship with great people on it (most times) but mostly we cruise for the stops. Oh and Karen if you and anyone else is up to it Sean and I are there!

I think it woulddefiantely be 2011 before we could afford to cruise again. I'll just wait for Number Boy to find me a great deal:lmao:

Ocean View room is $2,884, but includes $200 fuel surcharge. Plus, no onboard booking discount.

The big difference is that you can get a balcony for a really good rate, plus you're looking at an extra night (remember to divide yours by 7 and multiply by 8 to equal out).

Norwegian has some really good rates, sometimes even better than RCCL.

Here you go, see, I told you he'd be along with some numbers for us:goodvibes

Whats Norwegian like??

Me likey that price!

I wonder what its like to be famous:goodvibes

Wouldn't that be AWESOME???!!! Ahhhh...no stretch marks!

:thumbsup2

Ok, all this talk of crazy DCL prices, why don't we plan this for 2011....

(1) Disneyland
(2) HI cruise

Whatcha think???

The flight to LA for us is :scared: - I'm ready to kill someone after 12 hours on a plane:rolleyes1

Have a nice day everyone, I'm off to get mine started. See ya later.......:wave2:

Yeah, that's the biggest thing we're struggling with over the TA in 2010. The price is one thing but can I keep my children (would be 3 1/2 and 5 1/2) occupied for 12 hours on a plane????!!!!!!

Experts, what do you think?

9 1/2 is just do-able for us... after that we all get a little cranky:rolleyes1

I take a bag of goodies for Ellis.. I wrap up some too and he opens one each hour. Just small things like play-doh, crayons, stickers, chocolate etc

(make sure the chocolate is white chocolate and you dont sit on a chocolat button for 8 hours:rolleyes1 - when I got up it looked like I'd had an accident:eek: )

The Nintendo ds is another godsend, as is the portable dvd player:rolleyes1

Its me that finds it unbearable.:rolleyes1 That annoying map on the screen doesnt help either... the plane is the size of the ocean and it barely moves from hour to hour... its meant to chart your course... all it does is frustrate the hell out of everyone onboard:lmao:

Either that or just drug everybody in your party and start coming round just as you land:lmao:
I'm glad you said it first!!! I thought to myself, "Hmmm...a little Benadryl can't hurt, right?" :rotfl:

Oh, and that chocolate button thing nearly made me spit out my coffee!!!! :lmao:

For us, the portable DVD player works well for 3-4 hours (a couple of movies). We've taken some 4+ hour car trips and Thomas is occupied fairly well. But, we've never done 9-12 hours in one shot.

A 3 1/2 year old boy is an object constantly in motion (at least mine was)....:goodvibes

Disneyland is my favorite over Magic Kingdom...:thumbsup2

But the additional parks in Fla. makes the trip to California lack substance for long periods..:confused3

Walt :cool1:

Not a snob, we are planning on cruising on the new ships as well, may not be right away (although hoping it will) but we will definately cruise at least once (probably more;) ) DCL is by far the prettiest ship out there and definately will be a favorite forever. I am hoping the Magic or Wonder comes out our way though, it would be a lot cheaper to sail that way.

The reason I like DL better than MK is that DL has a more spread out not so compact feel like the MK has. DL has a better Pirate theme to it, Small World has a better theme as well. There is a Indiana Jones ride (similar to Dinosaur), and a french quarter. The facade for the HM is different as well.
MK has Country Bears, where they took it out at DL and put in Pooh, which was not a very good alternative if you ask me (big Bear fan). DL has Mr Toad, where Pooh replaced it in MK. So I am not a big Pooh fan, stupid ole bear. DL has the better Fantasmic and Tiki Room as well. MK though has a prettier castle, and my husband love the Hall of Presidents. Toon town is better at DL as well. DL was Walt's park and there are aspects that show that.

Main Street is my favorite because of the buildings are made to look larger than they are.:)

Rides not at MK are Mr. Toads ride, Casey's Train Ride, Matterhorn, Mark Twain and Sailing Ship Columbia...:thumbsup2

Memories come rushing back, when I step thru the entrance...;)

Walt :cool1:

Now I'm really looking forward to my DL trip in December...even if it's only 2 days in the park!!!

I would really like to ride Matterhorn and the Indiana Jones Ride. Someday I will get out there. After the BOB cruise, our next big vacation will be a WDW vacation of at least a week. The kids really want to get back there, and I guess I do as well. I would like to go for a day pre or post cruise but the daily rates are VERY high.

I'm hoping our next big vacation will also be at WDW...I want to take DS SOOO bad! He's never been, and I've only been once - and that was as an adult!

Benadryl.:thumbsup2

Seriously, get a late afternoon, early evening flight and hopefully they'll get tired and go to sleep. The night before your flight, let them stay up late and wake them up early so that by the time you get on your flight, they are good and tired.

Whisky if all else fails.

Reminder to pack the Whiskey. :lmao:

We use to do that with DS - the fly when he's tired. I remember a number of times him falling asleep while rolling down the runway to take off only to away when we start to decend (popping ears).

We also have done the DVD player and handheld games. However, now it seems like he has developed motion sickness. He says his head hurts when he watches the movies or plays a game. He now will watch out the window during take off and ascent, but will fall asleep soon after, regardless of when we fly. Haven't done anything longer than 4 hours, so I don't know how he'd be over to Europe. Even when he wakes earlier, he doesn't want to do anything but look out the window.

The fly when sleepy is a great idea. But sometimes (and this has been true on late flights we had last year) they get so tired they are unbearable and cranky. So it is risky. Of course, they'll be older by then so perhaps this strategy would work well. Would it be silly to take them to the airport in PJs?

PJ at the airport or on the plane? Seen it, done it, many of times.

As for being over tired, don't push their limits. If you keep them up all day, maybe an early evening flight. I wouldn't keep them up all day and then not have the plane until 9:00 or 10:00. If it is that late, I would have them do their normal routine. That is usually past bedtime anyways (except for mine who now likes to stay up later than us  ).

Good morning everyone...

My kids are the same way, but minus the motion sickness. Its about a 3 hour direct flight from any New England airport to MCO, and they are awake for maybe 45 minutes into it, then fall asleep until we come in over the Cape.

This time we will have DS's and iPod's so that will even make it better.

However, last time, on the way home we had already been up 14 hours when we flying home and I think both of them fell asleep as we were taxiing or doing our take off roll.

Nancy love,we LOVE Disney but theirs a limit to how many times am prepared to have my pants pulled down by them....

ps....Don't tell Hazel You guys are going to Hawaii in 2010.
.....

Oooooh Chris...I just had a visual. :upsidedow
And who told you I was going to Hawaii in 2010?? :yay:

I think the DVC resort in Hawaii is opening in 2010. We could all take over the resort. pirate:

On the DVC member cruise they said that the Magic and the Wonder will be sent to other ports. Someone said that they thouhgt one would go to the west cost and the other to Europe. The one on the west coast would be able to do special Alaskian cruises. :yay:

Leisha, I wish the Magic would switch it up a bit myself. Maybe a few more Southern Caribbean cruises would be do-able for most. :thumbsup2

This was our plane home

CIMG1234.jpg

Is that Big Red on the front of the plane? Good place for her....stuck out there where she can't bother any of the menfolk. :snooty:

or maybe a "personality" enhancement. pirate:

Tsk tsk...:sad2:

I should be working on my C.V. instead of Dissing:rolleyes1

What's a C.V ?

We sailed Royal Caribbean last November, we went to their ther island Coco Cay, no where near as nice as Castaway Cay. When we were trying to eat our lunch, there were chickens jumping up on the tables and benches. It was kind of sickening if you ask me. A few of the ladies were screaming their heads off they were so scared. I didn't see anyone from the island do anything about the chickens either.

You weren't eating a chicken sandwich were you Andy? :rotfl2:

Hawaii Five-O :lmao:

That was the best FO I've ever seen!! EXCELLENT Cass! :thumbsup2

Sistah P, I'm shocked!!! :snooty: :snooty: :snooty:
(How about mixing up a Konked Kooler in a thermos instead?)

He's planning roller coasters Jeff.
