So did everyone get to see my new countdown. Won't be able to cruise with all of you :sad1: but I do get to spend my 40th birthday at Disneyland. Hoping to get one of the new Grand CA villas for those days, that is if they ever open them up :rolleyes1

Hi Becky, I am happy to hear you will be able to spend your 40th Birthday at Disneyland, especially since you won't be able to be with us on the Magic.

So I was going through some drawers today and found a old notebook that we used to budget and plan our trips to Florida.

Here's what I found:

September 1993 10 night trip to Orlando.

Howard Johnson's Fountain Park Plaza Hotel-Kissimmee
$38.15/night with AAA discount and Magic Kingdom Club discount = $266.70
($325.00)

Gas
$.99/gallon average = $300.00:scared1: (2400 miles roundtrip)

Food Allowance:

$55.00/day for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids):goodvibes

Spending Money
::scared1: :scared1:
$300.00

KOA campground
x 4 nights = $10.00/night = $40.00

Entire trip budget was $1520.00

Then because I was a compulsive planner way back then, I even wrote down what we actually spent.

Howard Johnson's = $328.00
Gas=$241.00
Food = $388.00
Spending Money = $255.00
KOA= $40.00

TOTAL = $1252.00

I remember we treated the kids and went to Universal for the first and last time that year because we were able to save some money during the trip. We had breakfast at Perkins EVERY morning for $2.00 each. 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon for $2.00! I also remember making sandwiches for us for lunch. Dinner was at Ponderosa because it was cheaper if we ate at 4:30 and ate off the lunch buffet. Dinner started at 5:00 and we would just sit around and wait until then for the good stuff. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sometimes we just went down to Florida and never went to any of the parks at all. We would hang around Old Town in Kissimmee every night for our entertainment. Now I can't even imagine going down there without a visit with the Mouse.

Ahhhhh, the good old days. :flower3:

Wow..brought back memories for us too. Perkins and Ponderosa. We've done that.:goodvibes

Hi, Andy! We're going to be there--if I ever stop Dissing....

Yeah, me too!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Tomorrow.....our fifth full day at sea.

Boy you are not kidding about fast moving. My Dh's only comment about going on another cruise was to not make him wear a suit ( you know I am retired). He always throws in the you know..... statement, so it is a running joke around here, when he is not into something.
After deciding to go back to school and get my masters in nursing edu, I will be so ready to not study for awhile.

HOW ABOUT THE CHIEFS!!party:
THEY FINALLY WON.

If you don't want to go to the hassle of bringing formal wear, you can always go to Topsiders on those nights. The food is the almost the same, and you do get waited on. It's not a buffet at night. I love dressing up at night, especially formal nights. Makes it more special.

That's me done for tonight. Have a great evening everyone.

congrats to the brewers.:thumbsup2 they made the playoffs.:thumbsup2
of course you needed a Clev Indian to help you get in.:laughing:

Welcome new cruisers! I am Christian and will be travelling with my wife Elaine, Daughter Samantha (9), and Son Jay.(7)

I started this chapter of the thread so if you would like to be added to the first page DIS list, I can make sure you are added. Just send me a PM with the details you wish to include.

Welcome aboard!
