Has anyone ever mailed a box to themselves on the ship? I'm thinking about sending my FE gifts, pirate costumes, magnets, etc. but I'm worried that it might not get there. :confused3

Yes - we did that our first time. Got there with no issues!!! Just make sure to follow the instructions very very carefully on the sticky DIS for DCL - >

Boxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

Thanks! I think I might try it.

ohhh that makes sense - yes i will ask first...
i do all my own travel for the most too - but have found that a TA is very valuable with cruises....so i'm happy to let her do all of this for me!

Just wanted to let anyone know who may be thinking about these that I just went on the website and was going to order black to go with my suitcase in a 3 ps set which were about $34 for three and then I got to looking and if you bought the orange which is a discontinued color they are only $17 for a 3ps set. I am not picky about matching so I totaly went for it. Always willing to share a good deal when I find it :)

Crystal
darn!!!!! I could have bought orange for the black suitcases...i got raspberry and wondering why since i typically use the 'red' luggage - DOH!!!![/QUOTE]

Thanks for posting! I got the orange ones too. Let's hope I can make these fit alright.

I actually like a combination of large, medium and small cubes. All the undergarments and socks go into the small cubes; pj's, workout clothes, swimsuit and cover-up go in the medium and I use the large ones for everything else. They just keep everything nice and organized and if TSA goes through your suitcase, your stuff doesn't look like it went through a hurricane!:scared1:

(I suppose I should not use that word around here!;))

Your comment about undergarments reminded me of something (ok guys I know the board is PG so minds out of gutter) but on our last cruise in 2008/2009 I somehow left all of my clean undergarments in one of the drawers in our cabin. For some reason I didn't even realize I had done it until several days after getting home I get a call from DCL informing me they had my "bras and undergarments" and they wanted to verify my address.

So lesson here - Disney ensures your undergarments are safe and sound and will be back with you in no time (they paid for the shipping, packaging, etc.).

Boy, this thread has been pretty busy over the last couple of days.

Welcome to all of our newcomers. Sorry to be so late on that. Been busy preparing for this trip. Things are really starting to get pretty exciting.

If we do costumes, we will only do one and use them for MNSSHP and on the ship and finally at home.

I think the kids thread has slowed down somewhat because they are back in school and don't have as much time to get online as we do.

I left off a couple groups on the original FE lists. I don't know how I did that, but I want to apologize for the oversight. I will add them to the final list.

Speaking of which, I still have a few folks who have not responded with your cabin numbers. I plan to finalize the lists this Friday. If I don't have your numbers by then or at least some word that you are still interested in participating, I'm afraid that I will have to remove you from the lists.

There are few folks who joined late who wish to participate in the FE exchange. As of right now, all that I can do is put you into a group of your own. Or the other solution would be to you all to fill spots that may become vacant. I will know more by Friday.

Continue on with your DIScussion.

Hi Brenda - Just in case my PM gets lost in the cleaning out of said mailbox ;) My cabin number is 6083.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and can't wait to give out my FE's!

anybody going to decorate the cabin door on the cruise?

Halloween decorations of course.....:hmghost:

Just wondering...

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

Def! Especially with Jordak and Milliepie's help I have lots of stuff for my door - I'm even making things for my non-DISboarder friends that I am cruising with - one couple is even getting married on Castaway Cay, so I am making up some wedding themed magnets for them too!

As for costumes - I LOVE to dress up, for dinner, pirate night or halloween!
I checked with DCL and they confirmed that they are SO doing halloween activites on our cruise...so my DH and I have our costumes for MNSSHP on the ship and we can wear them if we can...then we have pirate outfits and special clothes for formal, palo and semi-formal night...can't wait!!!!

What's this workout clothes you speak of...... :scared1:

I'm on a cruise, the only work out I plan on doing is getting up from my chair and walking to the bar and back. Do I still need special clothes for that as well?????

Well that is totally up to you!:rotfl:

It took me 3 cruises to find the fitness center. There is something about hopping on the treadmill, looking at the wide open seas, and trying not to fall off. Nothing like it to get the heart rate up. :scared1: I have good intentions...one mojito equals 15 minutes of running! And I have plans for lots of mojitos!!!

I didn't bother with the fitness center last trip, but I am going to have to hunt it down this time with all of that Halloween candy!:rotfl:

Thanks for that great info. I purchased 2 sets of the discounted sets and plan to give them as Christmas gifts!:thumbsup2 And it was free shipping today!

Crud! I missed out on free shipping. I did get an extra 10% off, so that helped out a little. Got 2 sets of the orange as a test run and they should arrive by the 4th. Just in time to start really packing!

Dream time is over, time to take a mid-term now. :scared1:

Mornin everyone...Found us on page 2...Thats not allowed. Not with all this cruise planning going on. Everyone that has started packing..Hows it going? I think I'm going to take things out of the closet to see where I'm at...My DH still thinks I'm crazy and it is still too early, but I want to know ahead of time so I can write down what is left to buy.

How is the FE's going. We are almost done. Just waiting for one more delivery.

Every day now that I have to work I drag myself out of bed. I just want to go on vacation

So lets all do the vacation dance to help us get through our day of whatever we are doing.:banana::dance3::dance3::yay::yay::cheer2::cheer2::woohoo::woohoo::dancer::dancer::jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:party:party::rockband::disrocks:

LOL - My DH and I are starting the packing this weekend - it is starting to get cold up here so we can do most of it - except for personals/undergarments kinda thing ;)

FE - I am making my FE and got some cool fabric last night - I am not artsy at all, so I am hot gluing it to cardboard and decorating it from there...but I found some cool letter decals for our initials...not quite Disney font but funky.

I am making a lot of my the stuff in my FE gifts but again I am not that crafty...hint: lots of help from Jordak & Milliepie, glue and PAITENCE :cutie:

Wish me luck!

Ok So I have a bunch of new stuff in a closet and most of the stuff is for my DD's clothing, disney bathing suits and sand toys, and the pillowcases to get signed..stuff like that..Most of which my dd's dont know about and some that they know about but have probably forgoten about until they see them again...So my dilemma is....how do I take the stuff out and go through it without them seeing it all. They dont take naps anymore unless I am really lucky:goodvibes. I could send them outside but they always come in and out, in and out, you know the routine:confused3. I really would like to do this today cuz I am at a loss of what we actually have. I started buying things when I saw them on sale and put them in this closet. I think I have everything but not 100% sure. I can stress out about anything as you can see:eek:. While enjoying all the cruise preparation it can feel overwhelming. I think my Dh would love to not hear anything about Disney from me until we are on the ship.:rotfl2:

I am not crafty at all so I didnt make our FE's. My DH had great ideas for the FE's. I was surprised with all his in point. He actually ordered them all too. Now we have to decide if we want to ship a box down or not. We are flying Jet Blue so we all get one free bag. We weren't planning on taking one for each girl. I think we might now and use that for FE's and then souvenirs on the way home

Priorities.....Disney doesn't want folks running around without their britches...:)

All I have packed is the FE and most of the Owners Locker stuff (we are shipping this ahead to our resort via UPS). I need to make an effort for this weekend to get all the formal/semi-formal stuff together. I think both my son and daughter are going to need shoes to go with their formal items. I'm starting to feel like I don't have enough time to get this all done.

I purchased a 4-in-one outlet gadget that I read about here on the Dis. Since there is just the one convenient outlet on the desk and we will be plugging in the hair dryer, ipods, camera chargers, ipad charger, etc., I thought this would be great to have. It is small and the outlets are spaced far apart so as to accommodate the larger plugs (like on the hairdryer). Oh, and it has an blue LED light that serves as a nightlight in the cabin. It's pretty cool!:thumbsup2

I bought it on Amazon since we have free shipping but looks like they are available at Walmart and Home Depot.
