10/23/11 - Disney Dream

We're going to book our next cruise on this one...just have to decide Western Caribbean or Alaska? I think I'm leaning more to the Fantasy though.:woohoo:

That is a hard choice there, In fact we are looking at the same thing.. guess it will depend on how well we like the Dream class ships.. A week on the Fantasy would be nice.. So would Alaska??.. So many cruises So little time...

Our port arrival time is also 11 am. We have a town car picking us up at Coronado Springs at 10, so I'm guessing we should be arriving around 11 or shortly after that.:thumbsup2 I finished all my FE gifts and have them packed in a box and ready to send to the port. My suitcases are still upstairs and partially packed. Not excited at all, are we...:lmao:We're going to book our next cruise on this one...just have to decide Western Caribbean or Alaska? I think I'm leaning more to the Fantasy though.:woohoo:We'll be at the World in less than 2 weeks, with MNSSHP and F&W on the menu and can you believe that I'm still waiting for our DME packet to arrive???Called Disney twice and then someone gave me the number to DME. Looks like they didn't even have us down. :sad2:Oh well...the countdown continues. Can't wait to meet you all.:goodvibes

I hope you get your DME docs soon. I worry when all my ducks are not in a row.

And don't forget there is a the 15 night Hawaiian cruise next October too. And you can always do a 15 night Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy (actually two 7night B2Bs) but they alternate between the Eastern and Western Caribbean (we thought about that one until the Hawaiian came up). :)

The Alaskan cruise was nice but not so Disney because of all the Alaskan environmental rules.

I just finished packing my makeup! :rotfl: A big one out of the way. Our FE gifts are finished and are going to take their own suitcase We have been throwing things in a storage tub that go into our suitcases. I want to start packing. I may just get all the suitcases out tomorrow. When we get calls for a showing on our house, I'll just throw the suitcases in the car. I don't think "stuff" out on the guest room bed would give our house that "HGTV look". :snooty:

We are going to re-book too. We can't decide on a date so we are going to at least book a dummy date.

Same here???What's with Alaskan environmental rules???Oh Hawaii would be really great. Only problem is DH and I decided long ago that we would be going there for our 25th ann. Maybe DCL will still be booking this in 2014.:woohoo:

Just to add to the Alaska cruise, we took an Alaska cruise a few years back, and it was non Disney.. Now I am not going to complain because any day on any cruise ship is better then 2 days on land.. BUUUUTTTT it did lack in the Magic/Pixie Dust department.

If fact I was hoping to get my bride to be more open to Non-Disney Cruises, So I tried surprising her with many upgrades and surprises and still it was not a Disney cruise... And now we are pretty locked into Disney only for now..

Now it was a very nice cruise, Alaska is wonderful. But again there was a lacking. For example there were no door signs :confused3 NO DOOR SIGNS.. :scared1: Do you know how boring and grown-up hallways are with no Door Signs..

to show my aunt the ocean for the first time :goodvibes

sorry but that sounds so foreign to me...living on the East End of LI, I guess I take going to the ocean for granted --we are there almost every weekend during the summer (and alot during spring and fall!) The Ocean is about a 20 minutetrip but we have beach 3 1/2miles away (a nice run to the LI Sound)...I hope she loves the Ocean as much as my family does! :thumbsup2

Ok, if you have ever been to Disney or on Disney Cruise; you'll understand when I say a Disney ship is both never quiet and never dark. There is always Disney theme music playing at all times up on deck, the jumbo screen has something showing (even if just a screensaver) and there are lights on at all times, basically, you can play 24hrs a day on deck and feel like you in a Disney world. Not to mention the deck parties, etc.

Now, strip all that away period. Turn the outside deck into a library that closes at O'dark:thirty, that was the cruise we took. Granted we did the inaugural Alaskan cruise in May so things may have changed. Inside, it was all Disney (as usual) but take a step outdoors and Poof it vanished. They tried a pirate night party but it was cold, small, no fireworks, etc. Only 3-4 dance songs and that was it, lasted MAYBE 30 minutes. (no real skit just the dance songs).

LOVE Disney Cruises but think we will stick the warmer climate versions so we can PARTY.... :woohoo:

I would leave the Alaskan cruise for those "Grown-up" cruises that don't want to make noises or decorate doorways.. :) That is no to say I won't do one. We both would like to do an Alaskan cruise again sometime during the summer whe nwe could see more Alaskan wildlife and flowers (May was too cold for much other than shopping and gold panning).

Nope, not foreign to me. Grew up in Nebraska (Go BIG RED) and my family still lives there, while I escaped to Geekdom in Silicon Valley. :surfweb: 20+ years ago

When my folks come out to visit we ALWAYS have to spend the day at Monterrey so my Mom can just sit and watch the ocean (she would stay there the entire trip if we let her). And that is basically what she did when we took them on a DVC Member cruise a few years back. She basically sat on Deck 4 or Deck 10 and watched the ocean each day (and loved it).

The only oceans in Nebraska is watching the wind move the corn stalks back and forth like waves and the only mountains are the cumulus clouds in the sky on the horizon. :lmao:

O'dark:thirty..... :rotfl:

That was a killer, I may have to steal that.. Good point... The Alaska cruise we were on (Non Disney) Was a little grown-up or Grup like the said on the old Star trek show..

I was just hoping that The Disney ships would be a bit different.. But I do agree the warmer weather does make things more lively..

Thanks for taking the time to expand

Hey let me ask, I assume you sailed on the Wonder, and they had put the Observation platform on, How was that,.. Crowded, big, worth it.. Nice?????

It was both big and crowded. It has two wings that are fairly big but the chairs filled up quicky with folks wanting to watch the 'bergs and stay warm. Unfortunately, they tended to stay put so turn was seldom unless something was going on and then we weren't there either .. :)

In between the two wings is a new bar and a counter with stools you can sit at and look straight out over the adult pool (again probably better views in warmer weather, like Hawaii, :rolleyes1) but it was fun watching the waves toss the pool water around while we took the outside passage on the way up. And the folks who thought that it was still spa weather (50 degrees) and steam coming up so thick you almost couldn't see them . :)

Overall, I like the now Outlook Cafe.

Good morning folks

Only two more thursday till we cruise:yay: and 22 days till my birthday at typoon lagoon and downtown disney:disrocks::bday::drinking1

For those going to MNSSHP, are you going all out on costumes? I'm not sure if DH and I will be getting dressed up but we definitely want the kiddies too.

Also, what about Pirate night on the ship...are any of you getting all dressed up for that one? I'm thinking of keeping it simple...black shirts, bandana, eye patches, etc...but I don't want to be underdressed:rotfl2:

What are you guys doing?

My DD and I will be deffinitely dressing piratey...DH has decided to wear a t-shirt of his own design which I made for him. We all have official bandanas that I also made...dusted off the old Singer for that one.:lmao:Can't wait.:goodvibes

On our 7n Magic cruise in February this year, we came in full pirate costumes that we got on clearance after Halloween last year. My younger kids enjoyed it, the hubby...not so much. I got some really funny photos (don't tell him),:rotfl: but the truth is that we were literally the ONLY ones in full costume that night. Everyone else wore cute pirate t-shirts, bandanas and the like.

This cruise to my husband's dismay, we will be sporting the same pirate costumes, only I'm hoping since it is Halloween season that others will partake in this joy with us. I will admit, it was a tad bit embarrassing being the "lone pirates" on the ship last Feb., but I got some good laughs in!:rotfl2:

We're going to MNSSHP on Halloween night and I plan to wear my pirate costume (black leggings, pirate shirt & hat w/boots), my 3 little ones picked out a separate costume and the hubby & our 16 year old son are visiting Universal's haunted houses (what goes around, comes around; he dresses in a form fitting pirate costume on the ship :lmao: and I get the "hard job" on Halloween night)!

Go team Pirates!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I'm really disapointed there's nothing Halloweeny on the ship. I bought a Belle costume before I realized we wouldn't be allowed to wear costumes into the park (even ON Halloween) and now I don't have anywhere to wear it :-(
