10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

Me, too! I love Art Deco, so I know I will love this ship inside and out! Another of the interesting things in the youtube videos that I have seen is the comments by folks on the Disney ships (and sometimes the other ships) about how ugly some of the non-Disney vessels are. "It looks like a floating milk carton." When the Wonder and a blocky, all-white, mega-ship were tied up alongside, "There is the Wonder and the box it came in." :rotfl:

I love this!!!! :rotfl:

Hi everyone! My son just started Kindergarten this week so we've been a little MIA. Sorry!

Looking at our excursion options and I have a question for those of you who've done the Caribbean before. I see the "Pirate Encounter" in Grand Cayman and it says 3 & up. Can I still have Natalie (2yrs) old with me if she's not participating like Nathan (5yrs) would be? I looked at the site off of disney and it says it only sails M/W/F...so I find it odd that it shows up as an option if we're in GC on a thurs. :confused3 Any thoughts?

I think she needs to be 3. We were going to do the turtle farm..but the reviews for that were bad. i was having a hard time picking things that we can do with a toddler. For key west we are going to do the trolley non disney so we can hop on and off, in the GC we are going to take a taxi to 7 mile beach and in mexico we are doing the ruins and discover mexico with disney. Let me know if you find something else good in GC.

That's interesting, because I had some friends who we cruised with way back on our very first cruise, who just hired a cab at the port to go to the turtle farm, see Hell, and a couple of other places, and they really liked the turtle farm. Their daughter was 5 on the cruise and she loved it. :confused3

Does anyone know how many honeymooners we have on our FE list? I'd like to know who they are and their wedding date....I have an idea for a surprise for them in their FE!

Thanks for your help.

I know I'm probably the ONLY one that does not have passports! Im a cheapskate and that is why...but now I'm a little worried and think I need to get them...do you think it is too late?

You're not alone. I haven't decided if I'm going to get one or not, yet, either. DF has been bugging me for months to go ahead and get one, because he wants to be safe, but I'm hesitant to shell out a lot of money on something I technically don't even need. Plus, I did not want to have to go through the trouble of changing my last name on it (since I'm getting married in a few weeks). If I do choose to get one, it won't be until the 6th or 7th of September, and I'll just take my chances and hope it arrives in time. :confused3

Me too! we can't wait 2 months to go and i have already started packing.

I also got some great cheap princess dresses for Sienna at Babies r us. 27.99 and they are really nice they had infant sizes all the way up to 4t. Disney store only has size 2/3 and up....if anyone is looking for formal night.

Hey now you can come pack for me too!!! ;)

Awwww how cute!!:cutie:

That is good to hear, maybe we will change plans. When were they there?

Dan and I just got married this last week - August 10th

:scared1: woman overboard - I can hear the news coverage now " Woman goes overboard for a Disney Cruise"

Cayley did you notice that you were already over your 10 post mark!!

Woo hoo!!! I got off to a late start because I was on a different message board. With all my research never knew this existed. I don't know how I missed it!!

It is my guess that other than the ships lights, there will be very little light to interfere with stargazing, especially when we are at sea. So I looked into what kind of meteor showers we would have on the cruise.

From EarthSky.com:
October 20 and 21, 2011 Orionids
The rather large waning crescent moon obtrudes somewhat on this year’s Orionid meteor shower. Although the moon doesn’t rise till after midnight, the Orionids usually wait until the wee morning hours to pick up steam. Despite the moonlight, meteor enthusiasts may want to give the Orionids a try anyway. On a dark, moonless night, the Orionids exhibit a maximum of about 15 meteors per hour. These fast-moving meteors occasionally leave persistent trains and bright fireballs. If you trace these meteors backward, they seem to come from Orion’s Club, or north of Orion’s bright, ruddy star Betelgeuse. The Orionids have a broad and irregular peak that is difficult to predict. More meteors tend to fly after midnight, and the Orionids are typically at their best in the wee hours before dawn. The best viewing for the Orionids in 2011 will probably be before dawn on October 21 or 22, though the waning crescent moon may somewhat tarnish this year’s Orionid display.
I was hoping that we might be able to see some shooting stars while enjoying POTC on the Ariel-vision, but it seems the moon will make it hard to see any. I guess it won't hurt to keep an eye out all week long, anyways.

The sliver lining is that the best time to look will be on the early mornings of our last two days aboard. Wouldn't it be nice to make a wish on a shooting star on the last morning of the cruise?

I already know what I am wishing for!::yes::
