10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

:surfweb: I think TartanTinker is doing B2B eastern/western so she'll be a wealth of knowledge too.

What I find puzzling is that we have 78 posts but more that 1200 views - :rotfl2: I know we don't bite so log right in and say HI!!!!

Probably my fault, I check the thread all the time to see if someone else has posted. I don't subscribe to it because I stole my DH's DIS login and if I did, then the notifications would go to his e-mail inbox and he'd kill me! :lmao:

Besides, you never know, I might bite!:cool2:

You will definitely have a blast. I'd say you certainly want to make a reservation at Palo for dinner one night. Don't worry if you can't get it booked at 75 days out, they always hold back reservations to book on board, and even if those are all taken up, or don't work out, you can contact the Palo desk (I don't remember the Maitre'd's name) and ask to be put on a waiting list to be notified if there are any cancellations, and usually there are.

If you like stage shows, don't miss the nightly shows, and you certainly want to watch for "Match your mate" in Rockin' Bar D, it's the Disney version of the Newlywed game, and they're always looking for the newest newlyweds in the bar to participate, you can win spa visits!

We're not doing any Disney excursions (gotta get in some scuba diving...) but have been on the Western twice, so let me know if you have any questions about the destinations. TartanTinker is going to do Disney excursions for the peace of mind, so she might be able to help too, although she's in Scotland so it may take her awhile to come back and visit us. Usually it's pretty much ivet and I in here keeping the inmates company. :lmao:

My DF is really hoping to go to Palo one night. Someone told him about it and now he can't stop drooling over their food pictures. :rotfl:
I am huge fan of live shows, so I cannot wait to see the ones DCL puts on. That's probably the most definite must-do of this cruise.

Aahh, I love the idea of a spa visit, but I think I'm too shy to play the Match Your Mate game. And if it's anything like the Newyled Game that plays on the Game Show Network currently, I wouldn't last 5 minutes on the stage. :lmao:

DF and I aren't sure if we want to do any excursions. I just want to relax on a beach and read, but DF does want to snorkle. I told him that we could rent gear at Castaway, and so that might be where we do that little adventure at. :confused3

Oh, and for the 1500 views, I have become partially responsible for that. Now that I've got the cruise booked, I check the cruise line threads every time I sign on. :rotfl:

YAY!! I'm not the only one!!!

Beach days are awesome, and Castaway Cay is perfect for snorkeling, the snorkel area is protected, so you don't have to deal with surf or surge, and there are lots of fun things to look at in addition to the fish (if he wants to get certified before you go, he can come scuba diving with us in Key West and Cozumel! ;)) Even if you don't play Match Your Mate, you should go watch, it's hilarious!!!!! Seriously, I've been in tears watching that game, and I know the questions!

Awww c'mon there is No Way :confused3 the two of you could have possibly viewed this site more than 500times each :scared1:

You've got a really good point, I didn't really do the math but yeah, that's a little overly obsessive which I'm not really that bad. :lmao:

Just barely over 4 months to go! I went looking at scuba excursions in Cozumel for Disney, and bummer, it's only for 12 and up, so Jillian can't go. She'll be certified, but until you're 12, it's a restricted certification with a requirement that you can't go deeper than 40 feet, no obstructed dives (so no going in wrecks or caves) and you must dive with someone personally vested in your welfare, like a parent or sibling over 21. I can find dive shops that'll do that, no problem, I just can't do it through Disney. Ah well, have to get to Gobe before they close to get recommendations.

Yeahhh....I don't think it was possible for me to view this thread 500+ times in the 2 weeks I discovered it. :rotfl:

Sorry Disney won't allow your daughter to scuba in Cozumel. It would make things a little easier if Disney went ahead and provided that service for you, but hopefully you can find another shop that will allow it.

It should be easy actually, I just like getting recommendations from the shop I know of places they've dealt with. We're going to try and dive in Key West (if there's time) and in Grand Cayman. If we can't do Key West, then we'll probably do Cozumel instead.

Thats good to hear! I hope she can get in some dives with you :yay:

:wave2:
It’s that time :hourglass I need some sizing info on “our FE kids” princess: pirate: If you are part of our FE please look for a PM from me. Thanks!!! :cutie:

:surfweb: so she'll be a wealth of knowledge too. (I WISH):cool1:

I think We might do the cuzamel beach break (Disney) instead of the catamaran trip.

And in Grand cayman another beach day but we will arrange it ourselves.

And in Key west we will just have a walk around not going to book an excursion.

But I hope I can get palos booked for brunch & dinner has any you lot been is it worth going?

I am also going to book some treatments at the spa. :thumbsup2

Not long until I can add these to our booking

:rotfl: Yes you are and you don't even know it! I have had high tea with my mom and sister - it was so good. I even had the cucumber sandwiches and I don't like cucumber :scared1: mmmmm I should have asked for the spread that they use on them.

I might have to look into that beach excursion on cozumel, we usually just go into town and shop. I bought my a diamond band there about 15yrs ago and I still wear as my wedding band today. OOOOo and dont forget about Carlos and Charlie's now that was fun!!!! oh wait that was BA (before Alex) HA :rotfl: Shhhhhhh we just won't go there right now

Palo is awesome! I've been for dinner and for brunch, even both in the same cruise (granted, it was a 10 day last year, but still...). AnneMarie was our server there like 3 times and we loved her. I've eaten there at least 4 times, and only had 1 dish that I didn't absolutely love, but many dishes that I did.

If you can't get a Palo reservation before hand, you can always check on board, they keep some reservations back for those cruisers who haven't made them yet.

I'm probably not going to Palo this time, unless I decide I want to have a dinner alone, just because it's just me, rather than being with Scott. Unless there's a group that wants to invite me along on their meal that is... :rolleyes1

Hey you can join me !! I think we can have up to 3 or 4 of us? I think I booked 3 of us for the high tea and I would love to do that again.... So we have two of us so far. Lets see who gets what for reservations and go from there :confused3

Well I'm hoping for a romantic dinner for two  we'll see:love: with no kids. :cool1:
Hope everyone is having a good weekend:cheer2:

Could we arrange a group meet at the brunch at Palo? That would be fun to eat with everyone. It has been 10 years since our last trip on the Magic. We celebrated our anniversary dinner there and it was very romantic. Ten years later I am more excited about the food than the romance.:thumbsup2

I've done that at Palo with my DH, yep, it's really nice :)

I'm hanging out in Missouri this weekend at Lake of the Ozarks, my DS turns 8 today, I can't believe how old he's getting!

Bunny, I don't think that Palo would have enough reservations for brunch, but it does sound like it would be fun! I guess we could ask though, I'd totally be up for it!

Hi. ;)

This will be our first cruise, and we are very excited! My DW and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary  on this trip.

We are trying to narrow down which excursions we are interested in. I think we will do Key West on our own, and we chartered our own boat for Grand Cayman--we're pretty lost about Cozumel, however. Are dolphin encounters worth it, and which one is better?

Welcome aboard! I added you onto the roll call, I can add names if you want to give them to me, and if you decide you want to join the FE, then let me know, we're accepting new members up until the end of July!

DF and I have been debating whether or not to do the Cozumel beach break. I'd like to spend the day relaxing, but DF hates the beach, and I don't want to spend that kind of money on something he doesn't really want to do. :confused3

DF and I are trying to go to Palo's for dinner one night to celebrate our honeymoon, but honestly...we're more excited about the food, as well.:rotfl:
Whenever we talk about the cruise, we go on and on about all the delicious meals we'll get to eat. I suppose to others it sounds as if our priorities are a little misplaced, but we just really love eating at nice restaurants.
