10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

So what do you guys not want to miss this time around that you haven't done? Jillian and I want to go to the dessert buffet and watch POC on the ArielView after the Pirate party, she'll get us a couple of chairs and I'll run down and get the blanket from my bed. Oh yeah, and I want a Konk cooler!

Anyone else?

Hey that sounds like a great idea, I didn't know they showed that movie afterwards LOL We always watched the fireworks and then went to bed :cloud9:

I have always missed the folding towels into animals instructions - sounds weird but it's really neat they way they can do that! I also want to try the mixology class.

NEXT...... :surfweb:

It's too soon to pack and I couldn't think of anything to plan, so I glommed together this "logo" for the cruise.

OK, I guess I can't post a picture or make a link. Well, it's here: sonsoflars.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10005/normal_magic-west-2011.jpg if you want to look at it.

I would love to see that! That was one of my favorite rides as a boy at WDW.

Hey thats a good logo :thumbsup2 I had been PMing Jennifer about our cruise logo and asked one of our friends to make these for us.

So we may need to take a vote on the one you have and these 2 here.

We'll make your logo as number 1 and then the oil painting logo as number 2 and the puzzle ship logo as number 3. Does any one have anything else?:confused3
The one in my signature is for some FE's I am making so hands off MAWAAhhh ha ha :lmao:

That might be a pretty cool place to have a DISmeet? Since this is an October cruise, I'm hoping it's not going to be super crowded! Jillian said she wanted to do the towel animal class, but of course, it's for adults. They do have a couple of "Art of Animation" classes which are pretty cool. We did one on our Halloween cruise a couple of years ago, we learned how to draw Mickey, and Oscar, who was doing the class did one up on a large easel. There were a lot of folks talking to him afterwards, and we were like the last in line so, me being the rather forward thinker that I am, I asked him if I could have his drawing, which was really good. He looked kind of surprised someone asked (maybe folks don't usually ask?) and said sure! I also asked him to sign it, which he did :lovestruc!

OK, so, I like the #3 one best (puzzle ship). Since the Dutchman is now gone from CC, it's a nice tribute!

Wow! Those are some incredible graphics! I looked through some of the others at that photobucket location and there are a lot of other cool images, too. I think the puzzle boat looks the best, so far.

My graphic was a combination of West (the cowboy hat) and Magic (rabbit getting pulled from a hat).

Jordak (who is the DISigner) is amazing!

 You should also peruse the Creative Dis-sign board...there you can get some magnets and/or ideas ( :worship: since you have that creative gene :worship:) to put on your door for the cruise. Most of us look at what the "dis"signers have already created and ask to use those first before having them re-invent the wheel. They really do amazing work and on their own time . They used to have many more dis-signers but some got burned out with the amount of requests that were coming at them. :scared1: :scared1:

I did that before our Med cruise, there are a lot of DISigns out there already, so I used some that had our names or our cruise on it, and also used some of the blanks to make custom ones for us! I could spend days just perusing the DISigns board!

The puzzle cruise is very cool! :thumbsup2

Is anyone bringing a costume (other than a pirate outfit) for a costume contest on board? I have heard that they hold one on cruises in October.

We did that on our Halloween cruise a couple of years ago. My husband and daughter were gangsters, my son was an old time cop and I was a flapper. We probably won't this time, just because it's going to be week 2 of a 2 week vacation so I don't want to pack them and cart them around for a week. We had one guy who packed a white Tyvek suit and figured he'd decide what he was going to be once he got there. He decided to be Brent, the cruise director, and had the kids club help him get a picture of Brent's face, he laminated it and then cut out the holes, it was hilarious!

He didn't win, but he came back to his stateroom and the crew had left him a prize because they thought it was so funny! :lmao:

That sounds hilarious! :rotfl:

Besides dressing up for pirates' night, DF and I probably won't bring any costumes along. We haven't discussed it yet, but as of right now, I can't think of anything creative enough to whip together for the cruise (and still be able to pack it in the suitcases).

I am looking forward to the pirate-themed, night, though. A new shop just opened up in my city and it caters to pirate costumes. DF noticed it while we were driving the other day and mentioned that we should check it out before the cruise. Normally, I'm not one to dress up and do that sort of stuff, but I feel like it'd be wrong to have the materials right in front of me and not take advantage of them. :rotfl:

I also happened to stumble upon the DCL Food thread.... It's a good thing I'm going on the cruise after I have to wear my wedding dress. :rotfl: The Palo brunch keeps taunting me with all their selections.
Of the 3 main restaurants (Parrot Cay, Animator's Palate, and Lumiere's) which is the best (for the ones who've been on Magic before) or the one you're most looking forward to?

I am most excited to see/experience Animator's Palate. I've watched several videos on the place, and I just can't wait to see how the music and the room colors are synced with the meal.

Hmm, good question. I've had awesome meals in all 3 restaurants.

So, I know there are a lot of folks who don't like the Pirate Night menu, but, they've got an orange glazed pineapple coconut appetizer that I just love, I think I ate 3 on the last cruise!

As for regular menus, I think I like Lumiere's the best, if I remember right, they've got a great menu there. I also love love love lobster night! :lovestruc When we cruised last September, we talked Liam, our head server, into bringing up some more lobster for us on the last night, and we also talked them into going to Palo and getting us some of their lime sorbet palate cleanser for desert one night, its was so good!!!!!!!

Yah know, you can't really go wrong with any meal on the ship, so I'll just leave it at that! :lmao:

I was thinking the SAME thing. Lumiers is the fanciest princess: , Animators Palette:artist: - there is something going around you all the time ;) and parrot Cay has a laid back Island jive to it :cool2:- well IMO. At the buffets they have a really great selection of just about EVERYTHING and for those that dont want to leave their staterooms - the room service has a pretty good menu too

Mine too, and I've had it like 4 times now!!! :lmao:

It's a pineapple quarter, with toasted coconut and orange glaze, yummy!!!!!

I could sit and eat fruit all day, so I have a feeling I'll be ordering a lot of these! :rotfl:

We're so close to hitting the 100 marker day!!! I feel like October is taking forever to arrive!

What is everyone doing to celebrate the 100 mark day? We are actually marking the 99 day, double-digit mark; we're going out to eat at the 99 restaurant.
