We're actually due for a nice weekend here, we'll finally get our sprinkler system turned on, and we have a raised bed garden that we're going to plant, fresh salsa veggies, yum!

I'm not sure about the spa villas though, I guess it's not really intuitive on the website? I hate it when web designers do that, how about a big flashing link saying "Here's what you want to do!!!!"?

We didn't get the veggies planted, but did go to the nursery and bought 4 fruit trees (2 apple and 2 peach) so I got to spend my Mother's Day digging holes to plant trees. I've got a fantastic rip/blister on the palm of my left hand from using the pitch-fork to turn up the clay while DH empties out the direct from the hole!

So, anyone do anything exciting for Mother's Day? Get good stuff?

I didnt get my mom and my aunt (whom i also call mom) anything this year. But i took them to Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen at DTD in DL. And i just know they didnt like it but they didnt have the guts to tell me. LOL. I'll just get them something when I go to vegas next weekend! I hope everyone here had fun on mother's day!

We had snow yesterday, yep, SNOW, heavy, wet, cold snow that we had to knock off the trees so that the branches don't break. I'm missing Castaway Cay!!!!! I think this time around, I'm having a Konk Cooler! (Is it Conch, or Konk?)

But, I have been having a blast planning out what I'm going to do for FE gifts!

It's Colorado in the Spring, we had more snow today, but on Monday it'll be like 75 degrees. Pretty typical. I haven't had the conch fritters before, the other 2 times we've been there the kids were really young, so we saw some sights and then got back on the boat. This year, we're going to try and get a scube dive in so still won't have time!

dont fret over the fritters - not missing much. I would rather go scuba diving too!

Rules - hmmmm I think we should probably set a deadline like a month or 2weeks before the cruise (this way we have everything set for the FE as far as how many adults and children we have) We'll also know how many staterooms we have and may have to separate into two groups if there are to many staterooms. (We can all decide what is too many)

Once a cruise, given day, gifts for everyone or for the whole family - I am going to be very vague - (I know what you’re saying - how does this help me )

This depends on you, depends on your financial situation etc...Some people will do 3times during the cruise (first night or day, pirate day and beach day)
some will do once during the cruise, some will get just for the children in the stateroom, some will get for each person in the stateroom. Some make gifts like magnets for the doors or necklaces etc. - there is a thread that you can look at, I think its called Homemade FE gifts.

But the most important thing to remember is this is supposed to be FUN, exciting and new - come on board we're expecting you .... oh off topic sorry No SEROUSLY just have fun

OMGOSH...I just now noticed we are at 5 months!!!! oh yeah woo hoooooooooo

ok so now out tickers say 4 months, 4weeks and 1 day - - bummed

I agree, when we did the FE exchange on our last cruise, we kept it really casual, if you wanted to give 3 days or just 1, totally up to you, if you wanted to give 1 cabin gift, or something for each person, again, totally up to you.

That way we don't have people who aren't planning on doing that much stressing about it, and folks who want to do a ton can go to town!

We did a 30 day cutoff last time, that worked well too, just to give folks enough time to get everything finished, since we're going to be toodling around Orlando for the week before the cruise, if we only did 2 weeks out, that would only give me 1 week if we had someone sign up at the last minute ! Now of course, we were also total softies and did some stuff for kiddos who asked at the last minute last time, but it's a good goal! Remember, they aren't rules, more like guidelines!

Also you asked about what FE things did we get - glow sticks, bracelets and necklaces, a lot of little things for Pirates night, someone made us ea one of those keep your neck cool things, deck of cards, candy - oooh and someone made a little box out of cardstock that held 3 of those hershey's treasure candy's and had the ship name and dates of cruise printed on the outside(I still have that cute little box) little lotions, lip balm, stickers, tattoo's, pens and pencils - just a lot of little fun stuff!!!

We gave out luggage tags, little scrapbooks, necklaces and dog tags, eye patches, dolphin pens with Florida on them, and those ring pops.

having a cut off sounds like a great idea to me - Dan and I have a wedding to plan, I don't know how much time we'd have for last minute FEs lol - is it October yet?

Here's what I gave out on our Med cruise...

Kids got a backpack and pillow sham in their favorite color for signing along with a pirate band...

Adults got a Mickey themed pillow sham along with a set of 5 bottlecap magnets, a highlighter with the cruise name and date on it (a la our very first post on this monster thread... These were great!) and a Post-It pack that my kiddos did stamping on.

I probably won't do quite so many home made items this time around, but I've got a couple of ideas on what to make!

Thanks! We planned that Med cruise for 2 YEARS! So I tried to do it up. However, you guys won't be shorted, trust me!
