Congrats Ave on your son's progress. Mine is going into First grade and we just met the teachers Monday. It is going to be a big change from Kindergarten.

Did you all see the post about Whether it is crazy to book a cruise in September? Someone said that she would not put her children in danger that way and equated it to playing 'chicken' on the interstate. I think that is a little over the top.

Believe me, if there is a major hurricane in the path, I'm not getting on that ship but I don't think that just booking a cruise for hurricane season is risky. You have a choice whether or not to sail at cruise time.

Hey, do I need to rush to get my trip insurance before it has been two weeks since booking? We are very healthy so we don't have any pre-existing conditions. I was planning to go with Travel Guard from Insuremytrip.com. It is $76 for the 4 of us compared to DCL's $316. I read the reviews and ratings and that company gets the highest possible rating.

Jennifer

Jennifer,
we've been to Florida in 88,95,97,99,2001,2003,2004 ALWAYS during hurricane-season. Once in August, the rest in September/October.
We rode out the near-miss by Hurricane Floyd in 99 at WDW, then cruised in its wake. Last year we landed at Orlando International a couple of days after one hurricane, and 36 hours before the next one. We then simply changed our itinerary and everything went smoothly.
The ship is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and can outrun most storms. The worst which may happen to you is either a cancellation of the cruise or a re-routing. Mike and the other CruisEars-people were 'chased' acrossed the Caribbean by a hurricane in 2002 and never made it to any of tehir Ports-of-Call. They wrote it off as their 'Mistery-Cruise', but had fun nevertheless.
Anja & I especially love the parks during that time of year: Virtually no lines, even new rides my be walk-on, prices are lower. The only downside: Some rides may be shut down for maintenance, i.e. we couldn't ride Big Thunder Mountain last time.

To everyone going on the 14-day cruise: HAVE A FABULOUS TIME!!!!
(and i'm sooooo jealous!) Please be sure to post and tell us all about it.

I didn't see that thread about the person who criticized sailing during hurricane season but doesn't she realize that a ship can be one of the safest places to be since the captain has the opportunity to steer his vessel away from bad conditions.

Amazing Race fans: LOVED the outcome of this season.....I was so happy they won I was actually crying at the end! I won't say anything in case some people have it TIVO'd and haven't seen it yet.......

We are scheduling our next WDW trip for January. We've never been when it wasn't at least Regular season (often peak season.) We scheduled a trip 2 years ago in November thinking there would be no crowds. Well, there was some holiday or event we had not planned on and the place was Packed! (We just came back from Easter week there but it was fabulous the way we did it.) We're a little concerned about it being too cool for the kids to swim in January, but if the parks are more pleasant, we won't be rushing back to the hotel after lunch anyway.

For all those leaving on a cruise this Saturday -- have a great time!!

Tracy - you'll have a great time in CA too.

Loved the end of Amazing Race as each of them actually had a chance to win this time and did like the winning couple. I was only hoping that the couple that placed third wouldn't win.

BTW

Fiona

I have been busy being the Fike Moving and Storage business. Hopefully only one more year of moving children back and forth from college. And the dreaded green love seat has returned to my garage. Not even any of DS#1 friends would take it. We keep trying to get rid of it and it keeps returning. It is getting set out for the trash tonight so hopefully that will be the end of it.

Sorry to hear about the people being banned from the Disboards. I don't know the whole story, but seems drastic to remove everyone who was involved in the thread. I mostly just look at this thread and my reality show ones. I don't have time for browsing at other forums.

Safe travels to all those leaving on the Cruises. We are leaving Sat for WDW.
I'm sure we will all have great trips.

I am in Amazing Race withdrawal already. It was an exciting race to the finish. I saw the 3 teams on The Early Show this am. Joyce looks really nice with her hair growing back. I think it looks better than her previous hairdo. If Rob and Amber couldn't win was glad it was U/J.

Nancy

Nancy,
not everyone posting on that threat got banned. They removed people who tried to restart the closed thread in spite of having been warned.
I also think that closing such a huge thread due to some misbehaving people is kind of harsh. They even did this to a whole board when the Debate Board was closed - Although I have to admit that things on that Debate Board went totally out of control, so that the had no other choice.
As posted before: It's their boards :confused3

No, Renee, please don't go.......we'll all miss you so much. I don't know what went on with the other forum. Like Nancy, I barely have time to keep up with this thread so I don't read the others unless I need some specific info. I just checked out that link you posted and was absolutely APPALLED. I can't believe something so mean-spirited would be allowed. How do they know those people they show are not some of "us"? And I get b-o-o-b-i-e bleeped out.....go figure! I know you're very upset - and rightfully so - but I hope after all this calms down, you'll be back. Afterall, what will we do without all those cute photos of Haley?
Tracy: have a blast in DL......didn't realize you weren't on the repo cruise.

Who said I'm not on the repo cruse? :confused3

I am on the repo cruise, but just not this one. We are going in August, with dan and Scott and Renee.

Renee, I'll miss you here, but I'm sure we'll talk either in chat or on the Skype phone. :grouphug:

Tracy

Renee - So sorry that you feel that it's so bad that you don't want to post here but can understand also. Will keep in touch other ways but will surely miss the pictures of Haley.

Fiona

Hi Everyone!

Although there are no rules against someone announcing they wish to move on, there are rules against discussing a banning.

Please refrain from discussing this in the open from this point on.

Thanks

DISboards.com Guidelines
These forums are a part of Pete Werner's Unofficial Online Guide to Disney World (http://www.wdwinfo.com), also known as "The DIS". The site is owned and operated by Werner Technologies, Inc., and has no affiliations with the Walt Disney Company or any of its subsidiaries.

These guidelines apply to all boards operated on this web site.

The purpose of these boards is to give the fans and visitors of Walt Disney World an opportunity to share their experiences with one another. This is to be a fun and enjoyable exchange. The boards are open to anyone who happens to find their way here.
There are a few limits on what may be posted. They are listed below:

1. FOR SALE posts: For sale ads are strictly prohibited on any of the DISboards. Anyone posting such ads will have their posts deleted. For sale posts include posts asking for donations. If you are part of a charity that is looking to raise money, you must email the webmaster at webmaster@wdwinfo.com with information and proof of the organizations validity (this includes an address for the organization as well as the phone number). Otherwise, the post in question will be deleted.

2. NO PROFANITY: Profanity has no place on these boards. The boards are equipped with censoring software and will not permit messages containing inappropriate language to be posted. Profanity includes attempts to bypass the built in filter that these boards contain to avoid such words. Anyone found trying to bypass the filter will have their posting privileges revoked. Further, profanity includes suggestive or inappropriate photos. This is a family site, and other sites exist that contain more lenient guidelines regarding such matters.

3. NO FIGHTING: Several Internet news groups are marred by the actions of a few selfish people who turn an otherwise positive forum into a soap box for their anger issues. Internet newsgroups are not moderated, and therefore, anything goes. These boards are moderated in an effort to keep the discussions appropriate to the topic at hand. Those who feel they can not abide by these rules are welcome to read the posts on the board, and respond via email to the person who posted the message. Messages that are argumentative or sarcastic in nature will be deleted without discussion.

4. NO PERSONAL MESSAGES: These boards are not for exchanging personal messages with friends. For that, we suggest you use email or our Private Message system. If you have a personal comment for that person, please direct it to them via email or PM. If the use of the boards for personal messages continues, those messages will be deleted. Remember, if the message is not intended for EVERYONE, it does not belong on the boards!

5. ADVERTISING: The only commercial advertising permitted on these boards, are those that are contracted through the site. Any posts that are deemed as advertising for a commercial interest will be deleted. Commercial advertising is considered to be any individual posting for the purpose of promoting a for profit organization not directly affiliated with the DIS. Visitors are free to share their experiences with various companies, but anything considered advertising will be deleted and the user will lose posting privileges without discussion.

6. STAYING ON TOPIC: The boards are named to reflect general topics. Please refrain from asking questions about park hours on the DVC board, or questions about the Caribbean Beach on the Trip Reports board.

7. MODERATORS: For each forum on the DIS, a moderator(s) has been chosen to oversee a particular board. Moderators have the authority to delete or edit posts as needed, based on these guidelines. Moderators act with the full authority of the webmaster, and their decisions on all matters are final.

8. LINKS TO OTHER SITES: You are free to post a link to your web site on our discussion boards, provided that a) you are not offering a commercial service or for profit venture, b) you do not repeatedly and excessively post the same link over and over again on the forums within our site, and c) that you place a link back to the DIS on your site in an area easily found. From time to time you might wish to post links to other sites that contain information not found here on the DIS. While we encourage this, we ask that you please make sure the information is not already contained on our site (remember, the boards make up only 10% of our site).

9. DISCOUNT CODES: From time to time, Disney will send postcards via US Mail to select groups offering special deals. These codes are not intended for the general public, rather they are marketed to specific areas of the country. Under no circumstances can discount codes that are printed on these postcards be posted on our boards. Any such posts will be deleted immediately. We feel that if this is overly abused on the Internet, that Disney will eventually stop offering these discounts all together, in which case, everyone loses.

We do not believe in censorship, and open discussions about various issues is encouraged. We ask that everyone conduct himself or herself with respect when speaking to other people. It is okay to disagree, as long as the discussion remains respectful of the feelings of others. Once a discussion begins to step over that line, the post in question will be deleted. In extreme cases, individuals who are not able to conduct themselves as responsible group members will be asked not to return.

Just so we Do not have any problems ...
Im going on a Cruise...

have a great couple of weeks.. Peter :wave2:

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been very active. It's amazing how busy I've been.

First of all, I told Tom about the move (he's not taking it well. :sad2: ). I've had to deal with the legal repercussions of that. I have to keep the kids "up" about it (somehow Tom keeps bringing them "down" )

I've been training for my new job this week. Starting next week, I do the new work from the old office (so I don't have to move before the kids get out of school :cheer2: ).

I had my garage sale last weekend. Made more money than I expected, but didn't sell as much stuff. So I've got LOTS going to charity.

Have to call a Realtor about listing the house. Unfortunately, Tom has to be involved in that. :scared1:

I'm going down to Springfield this weekend, hopefully, to rent a house. I'm finding it difficult to find pet-friendly landlords. But I have to trust that God has my house for me, and He's going to reveal it to me when I get there.

Sorting, Trashing, Packing. PLUS all the day-to-day stuff.

Seeing it in writing makes me wonder, "OMG! How am I getting all of this done?!?!" :earseek:

I so can't wait for a cruise! I'm thinking I may need to plan a mini one or something before the end of 2005, just to tide me over until Cruisetoberfest IV!

I'm sorry that Piglet33 decided to leave, although I haven't been able to follow as to why. But, they need to stand on their principles. I'll miss them.

Well, I've got to run. More boxes to pack! I hope everyone is doing well, and hopefully, I'll be able to log on a little more often.

Marianne

SO, do the Repo-ers leave tomorrow? I can't wait to hear how that cruise was! Part of me thinks that would be too long on the ship, the other part thinks, "I'm so jealous!" They are going to have to have lots of new and different activities, don't you think? That is a lot of sea days.

wishing them a fabulous time and SMOOTH sailing! :boat:

Bon Voyage to all of our repo cruisers and may you have smooth seas and a fantastic voyage. We are so jealous. :teeth:

Eric good luck with the repairs to your car and inspect the work closely.

Everyone have a great day. Mike

Marianne and Nancy ... so nice to hear from you.

Fiona ... How's the son after his accident?

Survivor semi final tonite .... Final is Sunday ... then reality TV withdrawel shortly after that!

? ... Does anyone know of a "cam" site we can go to, to see the Magic arrive in California? when it goes thru Panama Canal? I think that would be so cool to watch (and drool over - hehe).

BTW (Back To Work)

Jeanne:

Spamalot got 14 nominations for a Tony. Finally a broadway show that I've seen up for a Tony after I actually saw it. How exciting.

To all who are doing the repositioning cruise - have a greaaaat time...
