Hi guys ... Sorry I've been MIA of late but work's been tough.

Art and I had an absolute ball with Mike & Kathy in Washington DC. So nice of Disney to bring the 75 Mickey's there for us to view too!

Funny story ... we were at a nice buffet at dinner time and it was easy to get seats as they were not at all crowded ... the food on the buffet was picture perfect and piled high ... we all had had our salads and were into the main course when BLAM the flood gates opened and in came 162 middle school kids with there chaperones (sp). All of us adults just marveled and looked around when suddenly we all got the same idea at the same time  Make a dash for the Dessert Bar or you'll never see any! When those kids were done the only items that didn't get ravaged was the broccoli and salad bar ... the rest looked like an army attacked!

Well maybe tonite while I am doing the mound of laundry, I'll try and get a little caught up on the boards but for now hope everyone is doing fine.

Hi Cathy  Kathy and I really enjoyed the trip to Washington with you and Art. Hope that Ashlee is doing well and I know that she was glad to see you again.

Just returned home from court. $25.00 lighter in the wallet. :rolleyes1 :cool1:

Well, I haven't forgotten about you. I am planning to book tomorrow. Dh and I have had so much going on that there wasn't a good time to bring it up to him and I had to tread lightly and wait for a good moment. Now he has said ok, but I am waiting (waiting, waiting, not patiently) til tomorrow for the Disney card to start a new statement. I wonder if that $50 stateroom credit will be worth my having to be patient?

Once I am really booked, I'll be back to tell you about ourselves.

No problem,
but you can also join The List without having a reservation, your name will simply appear in red, which means 'Will cruise, but hasn't booked yet'.
And you could show your DH The List to convince him - or to to scare him off cruising for ever :rotfl2:

Been thinking of the two K/Cathy's and Mike and Art. Glad to hear all went well in D.C. We are going next month and hope to meet up with Ave. All we have done so far is book the campground. Guess we'll not get that White House Tour because I never contacted our congressman or whoever one has to kiss *** to get tickets for WH. I've been in the WH twice myself but Rich has never been and I thought it would be neat to do it this time. If only I wasn't such a procrastinator!! :rolleyes1

Eric - Mentioned a while back that Rich already is off the Monday of Columbus Day and I am taking it off. Don't know what the plans are but we can meet up with you guys that weekend anytime and anywhere.

The puppy is keeping us busy. All these car problems, DS had an accident last month with our Impala. Almost $6000 worth of damage when some guy decided to cut in front of him to get to exit on interstate. No injuries fortunately and guy came out all apologetic stating it was all his fault. Hope the state trooper put that in report and guy doesn't change his story with the insurance company. Nothing like getting a phone call at 2 a.m. from child stating he was just in an MVA!

CrazyC's - BIL just recently bought an Avalanche. So, I should tell him that there is a whole big club he is already a member of and he should just go to one of these rallys. How do you find out about them? ... not that he would be interested but I could pass on the info just in case.

Would love to do that, I already talked with Peter about it. You are in Long Island, which is south east of New York, or due east of JFK Airport - Is that right? And it isn't very far from Huntington Station, where Andy & Arlene live?

The real planning for our New England trip won't start before July, because we still have to do some planning for Vienna, where we will be 07/02-07/09. Vacationing can be stress :teeth: You don't know how lucky you Americans are, because you only have to deal with three weeks of vacation :rotfl2:

Tulirose....does your BIL live on LI too? If so, I know for a fact that there is a club chapter there! If he is interested, or even just curious, have him check out www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com There are forums for modifications, area chapters, Get togethers around the country, things that GM recalls, ALL kinds of info there! At the beginning of June, there is going to be a rally at Niagra Falls. If he has any questions he would like to ask of us, have him email us at WVAvalancheClub@aol.com. Oh, and the best part, the enrollment in the club is FREE!!!! It won't cost him a thing to look around and check it out! Thanks for spreading the word!

It's cold here this morning. Only 2C when I was coming to work although it's supposed to warm up for the weekend.

Am tired this morning as I stayed up last night to watch the Jays beat Baltimore in 12.

Fiona

Fiona,
we had a temperature drop today: only 24°C/75°F after 31°C/88°F yesterday.
But temps will drop further tomorrow to 18°C/64°F.
Had to think of you today:
A coworker of mine will travel to Canada in 10 days. He's going to fly to Calgary to do some hiking in the Rockies, but more important: He'll do some shopping for me as I need a Reese's-fix. Hell bring me Peanutbuttercups and S'Mores. And also some games for my Sony Playstation Portable, which won't be available in Europe before September.

Well everyone, I did it! I booked my family for this cruise and paid the deposit and everything! I am so excited. I have not told the kids yet. I plan to wait until it gets close, but probably will pull out the DCL DVD again soon.

We've done one DCL 4 night. Looks like we just missed the last CruiseToberfest by a cruise or two. We are Jennifer (me) and Chip (not on the boards) - early 30's and two boys Jake and Jackson, who will be 5 and 7. (Hence my DIS name, JJsmama - no one is really "JJ.")

We are from South Carolina. In reference to the Germans, DH and I both (separately) studied in Erlangen, Germany while in college. You'll have to get ready to hear my really bad German, which used to be good. By the way, since it is OctoberFest, if you could stick some real German bier (preferably Hefe) into your bags, we'd appreciate it. ;)

Look forward to getting to know you all.

We won't be able to bring any Hefeweizen, because we will travel through Florida for about three weeks before the cruise. And as there is a limit of one litre of alcohol per person Anja and I can only bring two litres. So we will bring Schnaps - There's more alcohol in two litres of Schnaps than in beer :drinking1
But if you want anything else which is neither perishable nor limited by the US Customs, we'd gladly bring it, but keep in mind that we have to carry it across the Sunshine State for three weeks - i.e. a BMW or a Stein-collection would cause some problems :earboy2: for us luggagewise as we will probably rent the new Mustang Convertible.
Last year we brought about 60 mini bottles of Schnaps for the Sail-away-Party and it was a full success. So in '06 we'll bring a hundred :teeth: , which is exactly 2 litres.
It's good to know that you speak German: We can say something in German, point fingers at other cruisers and giggle - This is a lot of fun :rotfl:
There's another cruiser (LauraRN) who said that her German was bad, but we thought otherwise: She is very fluent and has a surprisingly good pronounciation - So I guess it will be the same with you- even taking into consideration that you learned it in Franken, which is probably like going for a basic English training to Tennessee (Sorry, Mike ;) ) :earboy2:

OK, gotta catch soem Zs now - looking forward to your mail. Please send it until tomorrow noon EST, we have another holiday on Thursday and I have time to do a new List.

PS:
Nearly forgot to tell:
This morning I received the Go-Ahead from the insurance: So on Monday our convertible will undergo the repairs and will I drive a rental for some days. The cost is about €1200/$1550 & cost for the rental and some compensation for me. The lady who rear-ended our car will have a stiff rise in her next insurance bill :teeth:

I was KIDDING about you bringing beer from Germany for me!! Apparently, since you brought lots of goodies last time, it wasn't an obviously absurd request. Maybe I can even bring some with me. Last cruise, I took liquor instead - since, as you say, there's more alcohol in a smaller container-- but since I don't like liquor, it was a stupid thing to do.

I was so sea sick the first night however , that i never had a drop of alcohol the entire cruise.

My German really is bad these days, but maybe this will be an incentive to brush up on it before we cruise.

I'll send the info.

ok - the weatherman simply has to realize that it's May here. Looked out this afternoon and it's white stuff coming down, a combination sort of thing with snow, hail and rain. Luckily it didn't stick around but enough already......

Fiona

Fiona,
we're down to 14°C/57°F and constant rain, which is especially adverse as we have a holiday tomorrow. Additionally my partner called in sick today so I have to come in on Saturday. It would be to expensive if I came in tomorrow :earboy2:

Jennifer,
I got your mail.
It has become kind of a tradition for many of us to bring something for the Sail-Away-Party, but it is not mandatory - It's only mandatory to show up and join the fun  :cheer2:
We had Schnaps from Germany, Buckeyes from Ohio, treats from Tennessee, toys, souvenirs, bubblemakers, can-coolers from the DIS, and many, many more items.
Our Design-Team produces a new logo each year, which is mailed to everyone well in advance and can be used to make T-shirts, stickers, whatever you can think of. It's so great to see all those T-shirts all over the ship - and sometimes scary for the crew :rotfl2: We even were mistaken for illegal vendors, because crewmembers thought we were selling stuff :rotfl:

To Everyone:
Will do an update tonight (My time) so send your requests until 2pm EST/11am PT.

I wondered about the Tshirts and things! Are we going to make the shirts ourselves (downloading the logo and ironing them on) or are we going to upload the logo to something like cafepress and let everyone order what they want? I think going with cafepress is a great idea! Then we would have a variety of things to choose from. I'll have to think about what to bring to share from WV. hhhmmmm........

Welcome aboard Jennifer and family.

Michele we make up a design and then iron them on. Cafe press will not do a Disney design due to copyright laws. If we incorporate any characters in our design it has to be done individually so that it is not paid for to stay within the law. Plus with some of us being more of there to love (plus size, like me) it is easier to find tee shirts that fit.:grouphug: Since our queen of design's DIS name is GoofyNut, Goofy will figure prominently in the next Cruisetoberfest logo.

Hope that everyone is having a great week and we hope to have time to put some Washington photos online later this week.

Fiona , not to rub it in, but my son had to cut the grass again yesterday. Kathy has a couple of tomato plants that are blooming. Mike

Fiona, not to worry, we haven't cut our grass yeat this year. Darned near cold enough to have to *^*^ white stuff! Come on warm weather.

Here is an idea for our annual t-shirt. We could order our t's from Cafe press / Zazzle or whom ever, have them print the back of the t's, my thought is we could list Alphabetically all the Disers/family names going on the cruise. Then after we have the t's returned to us we can put our own design on the front ..

Back to work...

Bye, Kim

P.S. it is chilly here 48F, I thought it was May ????

Mike...we understand Pooh Size here too! We don't have the nickname Bubba and Mrs Bubba for nothing! But I thought CafePress had Pooh Sizes?
Kim...I like the idea of everyones names on the back! Then we can add our own personal touch! :bounce:
The weather has been crazy here! For a few weeks we had hot...near 90 days, and this last week has been cold :cold: with frost in the mornings. Yesterday, Connor had field day and I thought we would freeze out there! Tomorrow is Colton's field day and it should be warmer..but not by much! It starts at 930am, and it doesn't warm up much before Noon!

I think that's an AWESOME idea for the t-shirt......of course, if anyone signs on really late they wouldn't be included, but that shouldn't be a problem. I recall last time Eric kept sending out "final" versions of the list, but had to revise it for late additions several times afterwards.
Eric:We are free the weekend you are coming to NY, but just barely. We have 3 big trips in September (Alaska for pleasure and California and Maine for business) Then we have another business trip to Chicago the following weekend. But we would both LOVE to get together with everyone in the area especially since we won't be cruising on DCL this year. We would like to fly in to conserve time, but that means we'll be carless. Both John and I are native New Yorkers...I was raised in Manhattan and he in the Bronx, so we know the city very well. That said, Long Island is like a foreign country to us (sorry, A&A!) and it really is L-O-O-N-N-G-G. Would you be staying inside or outside of the city and would it be practical for us to join you if we will be without a car? We could rent one but wouldn't want to bring it into the city because it would cost a small fortune to park. Besides, MTA is the most efficient way to travel anyway. Also, what would you enjoy doing when you visit...... typical tourist things? theatre? museums? or just strolling through all the various neighborhoods?
DC group: darn, I totally forgot there was a mini-meet this past weekend. We actually had to drive through D.C.on Sunday during our return trip from PA. We could have made a pit stop and joined you guys for lunch or something.
Jennifer: welcome to the group....you're gonna be so happy you picked this cruise.
Nancy: we have a wedding in Gettysburg over Memorial weekend.......if you guys are around, maybe we could meet up with you and Norm on Saturday(5/28) for lunch. We plan to leave Raleigh early in the morning and arrive shortly after noon. The wedding isn't until 6 pm so that still gives us lots of time to nap and get dressed. The following morning we plan to have breakfast with the groom's family and then head back home so Saturday mid-day would be our only opportunity. Let me know if it's a possibility.
