Rosemary,
I'm trying to talk Anja into a one-week-trip to either DC, NYC or Philly in October, but she wants to go to the beach as we already plan to 'do a city' in July. We plan to fly to Vienna for a week then. But if we travel to one of the aforementioned cities, we would love to meet with as many of you as possible.
Eric - If you and Anja come anywhere near NYC, we would definitely meet up with you! Hell, I would even hold a DIS meet at my house for you guys!! :grouphug: But I do understand Anja being a beachy kinda gal! :boat:

........ Katie went to the ER last night with a slight temp and hurling. Kathy and I told her mom it was a 24 hour bug, but you know how those first time moms are. She is doing fine today........Ave I will talk to Kathy and Cathy about maybe having a little mini meet in DC subject to their work schedules. Mike
Glad Katie is better. Get the K/C-athy's work schedules figured out because I think we will be a definite for a quick trip to DC. Just found out tonight that the Florida wedding this year is being postponed (darn nieces and nephews can never decide to marry or not). So, that frees up vacation time for us (well, for me, I'm the one with the limited vaykay time). Unlike Peter and some of you others, we have no cruise planned for 2005. Think we may make this year one of several long weekend getaways. Any suggestions for other trips for us?

.....Washington Mini-Meet. Sounds like we could have a good size group together. We fly in on Sat. June 18th. And leave on the following Sat. I will begin my research on things to do and places to go now that I have purchased our plane tickets. I've heard the "Spy Museum" is a must see. Also want to see the Vietnam Memorial. And of course bring the kids to the Smithsoneon. Lots to do!!! :jumping4:
What's the "Spy Museum". Is this something new? Looks like I gotta do some research myself. Last time we were in DC was a hot humid August in 1990. Richie just finished kindergarten and Richard carried him alot on that trip so we could get to places faster. It was a great trip and we saw lots. Unfortunately, Richard's back went out shortly afterwards but he recovered. Just read in Sunday paper about getting White House tickets through local congressman. I think that would be kinda neat to try and get tickets.

Oh! Jeanneg - my tree is still up and decorated! I think I will end up holding the record with this group -- unless someone else still has their Christmas decorations up..... ? anyone????

Rosemary, Come to Panama City Fl! We would love to show you around. Very nice place to visit, ask Eric and Anja.
Reneé, Glad to have you thinking about the Washington trip. Maybe I can make it through 2005 without a cruise. Let's hear it for Dis-meets!
Later,
Avé

Well, I think that you have us beat. We have our inside decorations down now, but all the lights and decorations outside are still up. They aren't on anymore, but they are all still up. I keep getting on Chris to get them down, but he's been busy with a work project.

Get well wishes to both Rich and Marianne........
Thanks Nancy. Rich goes to surgeon tomorrow to have drain removed. He went today to have an MRI done of his knee (my hubby is slowly falling apart :worried: ) Although we told them at time of appointment that he would be postsurgery, they said no problem back then. Today, they refused to do MRI because he was postop. How annoying.

A trip to Panama City!! How neat that could be! I'll discuss with Richard and see what he thinks. Thanks for thinking of us.

Don't you just love the medical profession. At least it wasn't like Bette who was there to have surgery and had to have cancelled.

I wondered what the spy museum was also. Even though DC is only 2 hours from me, it has been at least 10 year since we have been there. We used to take the boys there alot when they were young.

The wreath is still on the outside--does this count?

Wassup, Rosemary??
Even I know that museum: It shows lots of 'James Bond'-stuff from the Cold War, i.e. shooting pens, lethal umbrellas, etc.

We still have our tree up, but it's one in a pot with soil. We'll bring to the basement soon to get it accustomed to lower temps and eventually some friends will get it for their garden.

We Europeans have a very special day today: This morning the roll-out of the first Airbus A380 took place. It's the largest civilian passenger aircraft ever with 555 seats in standard configuration. Emirates will fly it with 650 seats as a pilgrim-shuttle to Mecca. Maximum capacity would be 833 pax. The cargo-version hauls 150tons. It dwarfs the B747. I recorded the whole event this morning and will watch it on Saturday as Anja is not interested in it - It's Tuesday and so we'll have to watch E.R. and Nip/Tuck.

OMG......I just LOVE Nip/Tuck....maybe even more than I do Survivor! But you are the first man I ever heard of who watches it. With most of the couples we know, the woman is mad about the show but all the husbands hate it. My husband won't even stay in the same room when I have it on. (Personally, I think he feels a little intimidated by Dr Troy, but let's not go there!)
And God bless Anja's granny.......what an amazing woman to be still up and about at 95! I'm sure she's in better shape than I am right now since I just did a whammy on myself yesterday.....still waiting to get in to see the specialist, but suffice it to say I probably won't be back in spinning class for a LONG time. Something in my knee just popped and I can only put weight on my leg if my knee is totally locked. John says it's gonna require surgery of some sort but we won't know anything until I get into see the doctor. After my lovely experience in the ER last August (kidneystone) I absolutely refuse to go that route again! This was all brought on by the obsessive cleaning I've been doing lately. Will somebody please buy my house!

If someone holds a DIS meet in NY, we'll definitely try to make that as we're always looking for an excuse to go "home".

Maryanne and Rich ... Hope you guys are OK and well on your way to fully healing!

About now I'm wishing I could send you "Southerners" a little of the frozen white fluffy stuff ... Yes, it looks pretty falling and on the trees BUT after you do a 360' with your car once or twice it gets old! Thank God I only have to scrape some dead grass off my front plate.

Anyone heard how Bette is doing?

PixieDust to everyone who is sick, injured or post-op ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Jeanne,
there's another male who loves Nip/Tuck: My Gramps at age 91!!! No kidding, last Wednesday he called me at the office to tell me that he nearly laughed his butt off the evening before, when that doc's son tried that DIY-circumcision :earboy2:

Thanks everyone. I'm happy to say I'm probably 95+ percent back to normal. Still sore once in a while, but nothing I can't handle.

OMG Jeanne! You popped your knee? I cannot stand knee pain. I pulled a ligament when I was a kid, and believe it or not, it still acts up on me. Keep us up to date regarding any surgery!

And a lesson for us all--exercise is NOT good for your health!

"Best wishes to everyone who's sick, injured or recovering." I like that line. Ditto from me!

Goofynut, no more 360's. :flower1: Please be careful.

Rosemary, We would love for you to visit us here in the "other part" of FL.

A patient told me about the Spy Museum and I found the web page. I will post it later, but it sounds like a fun place to visit. The Health and Science Museum sounds good too. Lots of disgusting medical stuff to see. LOL

Eric, I heard about the airbus on the news this morning. Can't imagine 555 people on one plane! :earseek: But I now live in the land of puddle jumpers.

Got to go do some more Washington DC research.
Later, Avé

Eric: you guys are several seasons of Nip/Tuck behind us! Keep watching, the best is yet to come! I just loved the first season finale.

Well, the preliminary diagnosis is in: ruptured Baker's cyst with a torn meniscus. The doctor took one look at my knee which looked pretty normal to me and declared that it was full of fluid. It appears that surgery is inevitable but at least it can be done on an outpatient basis. We won't know anything for sure until Friday after I have my MRI. Getting old stinks!!!!

My sister's son is going to be on the David Letterman show tomorrow night the 19th. He is a drummer for the band, Trail of Dead. Not really my type of music, but have set the Tivo just to watch.

Cathy girl and everyone else please be careful of the weather and any aches and pains, or surgeries. Mike

Hey Jeanneg! You and my hubby can compare notes. He is going for an MRI (second attempt) next week - Tuesday to be exact. Preliminary dx is Torn medial meniscus.

Eric - I understood the concept of a spy museum; I just never knew we actually had one.... guess it's top secret!! LOL!!! Ave - Please post the link when you get the chance.

Wreath on door, potted tree and lights outside just don't cut it. I take the award for being the last with Christmas decorations. My living room was still fully decorated and ready for holiday company until tonight. Started putting stuff away finally but it's a time-consuming job.

Mike - That's great for your nephew being on David Letterman show! To paraphrase my old friend, Dan (where IS you honey?), "how neat is that!?" Speaking of people on T.V. shows, co-worker's hubby was on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" in November and it is airing next week, Wednesday, to be exact. They couldn't tell us specifics because they signed a secrecy thing (oooh, James Bond stuff again maybe) but it seems he went pretty far. She is hoping her car lasts until February when they get the check with his winnings!

Good to hear from you Cathy. I'll pass on your good wishes to Richard tomorrow. If you hear anything about Bette, please let us know.

Rosemary,
I'm sure that you understood the concept, but I was referring to the fact that I knew about the actual Spy museum in DC as there were some reports about it in the German media.
