Peter you are in our thoughts. When I worked for the railroad my partner and I commuted from Nashville, TN to Ft Lauderdale FL every week for about 2 months. We left Nashville at 6am on Sundays and arrived in Ft Lauderdale at about 1am on Monday morning. We then had to be at work at 7am. We drove home on Thursday afternoon arriving on Friday afternoon. Then we did it all over again. Mike

Anja and I have a sore butt: We did a spinning class on Thursday. For those of you who don't know spinning: It is a indoor cycling class on special race-bikes and very exhausting. We did it for the first time as we participate in a special training program at our gym right now: We had to do 16 workouts in three months, including six 'milestones' like aforementioned spinning. We did the 16 workouts in 20 days :earboy2: On Thurday we ran 5 miles, did an hour of The Pump (Weightlifting class) and then the spinning. As it was our very first time we didn't have those cushioned bikerpants nor a gel-filled seat-cover.
Now we feel like Billy Crystal in City Slickers and walk like John Wayne.
But as a reward for all that stress we got some protein-bars and free drinks at the fiteness-bar - And next week we'll get our finisher T-Shirts, saying '100% Fit' :cool1:

Ha-ha......I can totally relate to what you're saying. The bad news is you will have to go to spinning class about 4 or 5 more times before it gets totally comfortable. The good news is that once you develop your "cycle seat" you can miss class for months and it will be totally fine when you go back. A gel seat will help initially but hard-core spinners usually don't need them. Of course, if you're a wimp........... Actually, it's very much like breastfeeding: it hurts like hell when you first begin but once you get past the initial few days it's a breeze......but I doubt either of you will relate to that! Anyhow, I've been spinning twice a week for about 4 years and love it. Have you done any quick jumps yet? Those are killers!

Marianne: sorry you're not feeling up to speed .......get well soon!

Hope Dan and Scott had a wonderful cruise.

Ave/Mary - A mini-meet in D.C. is very attractive to us. June 18th through the 25th? No calendar nearby but that is more than a week you will be there. This is definite? We would love to meet up with you this summer.

Rich also had surgery this week, Thursday. He is doing better today. Zapp - He refuses to take the pain meds because they make him feel sicker than the pain itself. Hope you recover asap.

Wishing we were cruising now too....

We did lots of Quick Jumps. I really liked the spinning, but we'll probably won't do it again soon, because no spinning class in our gym starts before 7pm. Anja and I usually arrive at the gym around 3:40pm and work out for two hours. Only Wednesday and Thursday we arrive a bit later, because my company's badminton team practices from 5:15-6pm on Wednesday, and on Thursday we do The Pump from 5:30-6:30pm. A large discounter in Germany usually offers very affordable bikers clothes in spring. I guess, we're both going to get a couple of padded pants then, just in case :earboy2: And I asked the management at the gym to offer an earlier class - We'll see.

Rosemary,
I'm trying to talk Anja into a one-week-trip to either DC, NYC or Philly in October, but she wants to go to the beach as we already plan to 'do a city' in July. We plan to fly to Vienna for a week then. But if we travel to one of the aforementioned cities, we would love to meet with as many of you as possible.

Thanks Everyone ...

The job will be over in about 3 weeks well maybe longer if the person above me does not stop complaining about us being 15 minutes late. Every time that is said it upsets the 2 people actually (Me and Partner) doing work in the field and Production Becomes less so in the long run, ends up taking longer for the job to be completed, so I think it is going to go into a 4th week.

we pick up another person 45 miles into the trip and share driving..

This is 20 minute out of the way LOL but still better know what I mean..

Back to some fun stuff ... We have 2 cruises booked
One is a 14 day repo cruise from Fla to Cal.. in May (4 months) and another in October of 2006 Anyone else Crusing in May besides Kim and Bette. We have decided to share the usual stuff with them . Van Rental to the port and (The stuff we have shared with Mary in the past.. we know several other couples from other cruises..
and other Meets I also read there are only about 500 children on this cruise In May. We love Kids, dont take that wrong. (Have been trying to have one for a couple of years) In Gods Time...
When we did Inaugural western route there were alot of couples booked
when this happens total people on the ship is lower and thing arent as crowded.

ok Jenn is at the gym.. She is using South Beach diet plan as a base plan
and it takes a little getting use to u dont realize how much sugar u consume .. I have not Been Good at this plan and have my own plan in place called the (South Gloucester Beach) Made up Name.. plan allows for 4 cups of coffee with cream and sugarfrom Dunkin donuts each day and other than that it follows the guide lines of the South Beach plan.. LOL I  Seem to just do what ever Jenn is doing it helps.. Since there is only Green Beans and chicken on the plate..
that is what I Eat...

And We need a Trip... Can anyone help LOL Airline tickets are always accepted.. LOL :flower1: Will have to wait until May..

Hey everyone. Thanks for the well-wishes. Surgery was fine & I'm actually feeling much better. I was able to get thru the weekend without the pain pills! Advil seems to help. My older daughter (she's 21) came to stay Friday nite & Saturday. It was a huge help. I could lock myself in my room & not worry about the kids or the dogs. The girls even took down my Christmas tree!

260-mile commute???? Is any job worth that? I couldn't stand the thought of being on the commuter train into Chicago for 1-1/2 hours each way (like so many around here do every single day!).

We listen to K-Love radio (contemporary Christian), and they're sponsoring a cruise that leaves in a week or two. There are, like, 11 different Christian artists that are going to be on it--many of them among our favorites. Heidi & I are so bummed that we can't do it. I keep telling her, one of these days...

Everything's quiet here. The sun is shining, the snow is on the ground & the temp is around 3 deg. Well, at least the sun is shining.

What's the countdown saying now????

Marianne glad that you are doing better. Katie went to the ER last night with a slight temp and hurling. Kathy and I told her mom it was a 24 hour bug, but you know how those first time moms are. She is doing fine today.

We had snow flurries here today and it was very pretty coming down. Thinking about making a pot of home made chili for dinner.

Hope that everyone is doing well and stays warm or cool depending upon your location. Dan and Scott hope that the cruise was all that you wanted it to be.

Ave I will talk to Kathy and Cathy about maybe having a little mini meet in DC subject to their work schedules. Mike

Mike

On the stove now just got up off the couch and said im gonna make a pot of chili. :teleport:

Must be chili night :teeth:. It's so cold here that was our plan for dinner too!

Get well wishes to both Rich and Marianne.

Our gym has spinning classes 3 times a day (Mon-Fri) 0930, 1700, and 18:30, plus on Tuesday has a 0600 class. Saturday is just one class at 0930. No spinning on Sunday. It is an extra charge at our gym to do the spinning class. I have never taken it as I have never been fond of riding a bike as it hurt my knees. Plus with all the sciatica nerve pain I had last year sitting on that bike seat probably wouldn't be a good thing.

Peter--- It sounds like you are on the See Food Diet. I guess since alot of children are still in school in May is why there is only 500 children onboard.

Norm and I went to Disney Day at AAA today. Picked up some information. The new ticket pricing is confusing. I am still waiting to find out DS#2 summer schedule and then will make plans for a May WDW trip. His top priority when he went back to school was to find out if he could get a double major in sports management and also the new Golf Management Program that will start Fall 05. He was given a deadline by me to make a decision. As he needs to renew his apartment before 2/15. Haven't heard from him since his interview with the program director of the golf program on Friday.

A DC meet in June sounds like fun. I am deciding if I am going to attend my Professional conference in Vegas 6/12-6/16. I have never been there and am not really interested in going, but need to see how many CEU's I still need for my certification. That will be my determining factor if I go. So I should be back home after 6/17 to go to DC.

Thats all that is new in our house.

Nancy

Add us to the Chili list! I put it in the crock pot to simmer all day! Also made beer bread, brownies and have a fire in the hearth. We too, got a few snow showers today, but not even enough to play in. The boys are bummed about that. Oh well....maybe the next snow fall...

OK, remember Thursday when I reported the temperature was 78 degrees and had broken a record for the 4th time this month? Well this morning we had snow! It was just a light dusting and only lasted for about an hour, but it shows you how fickle the weather can be around here.

Nancy: I think you should definitely go to Vegas and take Norm with you. Even if you don't like to gamble, there are lots of great shows (they have 3 different Cirque du Soleil ones) and it's a blast just touring all the different hotels and checking out their themes. I think it's definitely worth seeing at least once.

We may be able to make the DC DIS meet in June....still too far away to say for sure.

John and I have decided that when we (if we?) sell this house we are taking a mini-vacation to WDW and staying at the Polynesian in a concierge room. That's now become the one thing to keep us motivated with all this cleaning. Yesterday we decided the grout on our bathroom floors could use some sprucing up so the both of us got down on all floors and cleaned every single line of grout with a toothbrush........I want my life back!

OK, get this......78 degrees last Thursday; 16 degrees this morning! That's why we can never put away all our off-season clothes in Raleigh.

We are back in the winter: Temps below 0°C/32°F. Forecast predicts snow for the coming weekend. Anja has to work anyway, so we don't care. The last weekend in January we're going to fly to Hamburg, and then take a rental car to drive another 65 miles to Kiel, Anja's hometown. Anja's Granny is celebrating her 95th birthday on Sunday 01/30, so we're flying up on Saturday morning, do some shopping in Kiel, visit some friends, have dinner with Anja's parents, and then spent the night in their house. The next day we'll have a festive lunch in Granny's favourite restaurant and in the early afternoon we'll return to Hamburg to fly home. I made a reservation for a Mercedes A-Class at a special weekend-price. I want to use the opportunity to check it out, as it may be our next car.

Still no snow here in FL, but it did get a little chilly. Lows in the 30's, highs in the 50's. Still, I can live with it. :D DH made Chili last night!
Our computer is back up and running fine. Guess DD will just have to wait for a new one.
Washington Mini-Meet. Sounds like we could have a good size group together. We fly in on Sat. June 18th. And leave on the following Sat. I will begin my research on things to do and places to go now that I have purchased our plane tickets. I've heard the "Spy Museum" is a must see. Also want to see the Vietnam Memorial. And of course bring the kids to the Smithsoneon. Lots to do!!! :jumping4:

Got to run.
Later,
Avé

Avé - count us in on the Washington DIS Meet. It's not too far for us so we can probably swing it.

Reneé,
I guess I didn't notice before now. You're in NJ. Where? I grew up & my mother still lives in Middletown. I have a brother in Absecon--he works in Atlantic City.

I'm thinking, if I can afford it, maybe the kids & I will drive out for the DC meet & go visit Mom. It's about 5 hours (maybe quicker if there's a highway now). It all depends on my budget--which right now says no. But who knows by June?

I live in Somerset, which is near New Brunswick. Middletown is pretty close to me.

......Commuting 260 miles each day sounds like a bad deal for me - and outright dangerous on the way home due to your being tires. Wouldn't it be safer in cheaper to stay in an affordable motel during the week and just commute on Friday and Monday?
That does sound like the logical solution but I'm sure Peter would miss Jen too much and visa versa.
