Goofynut, no more 360's. :flower1: Please be careful.

Rosemary, We would love for you to visit us here in the "other part" of FL.

A patient told me about the Spy Museum and I found the web page. I will post it later, but it sounds like a fun place to visit. The Health and Science Museum sounds good too. Lots of disgusting medical stuff to see. LOL

Eric, I heard about the airbus on the news this morning. Can't imagine 555 people on one plane! :earseek: But I now live in the land of puddle jumpers.

Got to go do some more Washington DC research.
Later, Avé

Maximum will be 853 and there's even talk about building an extended version with 1000 seats later if the market demands it. But waiting at the baggage carousel must really suck then :earboy2:
As a European Boeing employee I'm kind of torn in this issue: It's great for us Europeans to have such a wonderful aircraft now and being world market leader with Airbus, but on the other hand my money is coming from Boeing. So I'm hoping that the upcoming 7E7 is a success as well.
Competition is always good for the business.

Rosemary: which leg of your husband's is the injured one? As luck would have it, mine is the right which means I can't drive AGAIN. First I had no car for over a month, now I have my car but I can't operate it. John's birthday is Saturday and I haven't even gotten him a card. Originally I promised I would play golf with him as a birthday gift, but that's not going to happen now. I can still shuffle around enough to cook him his birthday meal, but he'll have to go to the store and buy his own ingredients! This is the first time I could actually use having one of my kids still at home! I read some of John's old medical books last night and now have a better understanding of what went wrong with my knee. The cyst was actually a fluid buildup within the cartilage due to age, weight, abuse (all those "quick jumps"!). I had been having alot of discomfort for over a month but attributed it to varicose veins. When the cyst finally ruptured, it ripped the cartilage (meniscus). Right now I just want to get whatever surgery I need over with so I can get on with my life. I wish I could have chosen better genes!

Yes! Victoria and Jonathan are finally gone! Did everyone catch the smug on Phil's face as they were approaching the mat? I saw them on the Early Show this morning (since I wasn't at the gym!) and they are still clueless in my book. He's nothing but a jerk and she's dumber than doornail for staying with him!

Ya gotta love it here - The snow is coming down like crazy and sticking! Unlike the dusting we had Sunday morning, this is the real deal. The schools declared an early dismissal and began sending students home at 12:45. Trust me, if we get up to 2 inches, we'll be closed the rest of the week! And less than a week ago it was 78 degrees! As Napoleon Dynamite would say....GOSSSSSHHHH!!!

Hmmmm, sounds like your getting a little of what we had last week. Cancel my request for an escape. Kylie saw Napoleon Dynamite the other night and has been quoting it ever since. Got any Tot's? I have to see that movie.

Hey, was everyone asleep?? I can't believe Jonathan and Victoria are gone and there's no comment here. I think the producers had a soft moment and let them go out at least looking human. I thought John would have a total meltdown when they realized they were a donkey short.

Hi Guys, Kim here....

For everyone who was asking about mom ( bette) here is the story...

In Spetember she was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. Major surgery scheduled ( surgeon said she had to have everything out and the surgery could not be done by laprascopic method cyst was the size of a grapefruit) Surgery cancelled by anesthesia 2 days before surgery date, they wanted a heart ultrasound. Ultrasound Tests done results were perfect.

Now the surgery can't happen until almost 3 months later ( Dec 30), surgeon was soooooo busy. Mom is in the OR and prepped and again they cancel surgery, this time the Anesthesiologist and the surgeon forgot to review her records and they want another stress test done. Welllllll at this point I have a meltdown and have it out with the Drs over their total incompetance. Kim and the now the EX SOB surgeon get into a screaming match, that is the end of that SOB for us... He actually had the male parts to tell me I was the cause of her cardiac stress that p@*#k.

On to today, new surgeon, I go with her to the app't, she can have the cyst which is only 2.25 cm large removed by Laprascopic method and be out of day surgery the same day !!. She does not need to have a total removal of everything, no medical indications support that.

Surgery will probably be week after next, I will let you all know what happens. It has been beyond stressful and we are wiped, but wanted to let you know all the GREAT news...

The amazing race...

Yea they are gone, I think my favorite line last night was when Jon tells Victoria ( who was crying again) to have some dignity !! This is the same man who at the same time is walking down a street in ugly red underwear...

Gotta run,

Bye, Kim

Kim, That's great new about Bette! Hoping this will all be behind you both soon.

Jeanneg, so sorry about your knee! :guilty:

OK web page for spy museum is www.spymuseum.org
Very cool page. Check it out.

Got to go surfing!
Later, Avé

Wow! Best wishes to all the sick and injured. Seems as tho everything happened at once. Poor Bette and thank goodness she doesn't have to wait for 3 months to have a surgery that didn't need to be as extensive as that stupid MD said -- what an idiot (didn't want to use a stronger word for fear of having this post blocked out).

Help -- After watching the Golden Globes, I decided I just had to watch this program, but I can't find it anywhere in my tv guide. Can somebody tell me what network it is on and what day.

Jeanneg -- Didn't know we were having snow anywhere in NC right now. They are talking about possible snow here this weekend. Good luck with your knee. Just joined the YMCA here and have started exercising again, but I think I will take things fairly easy for a while.

Kim and Bette:SO sorry about your recent ordeal. As horrible as it seems, maybe all the confusion happened for a reason. It seems to me the original surgeon was a real nutcase. Thank God she DIDN'T go under the knife with him! The new guy seems to have it all together. I hope it all works out well and she's feeling better soon.

About the snow....we got 0.4 inch but it very quickly turned to ice and the whole city of Raleigh has become paralysed. It usually takes John 25 min to get home, but he left at 3:45 and still hasn't arrived (over 4 hours). Last I heard some school children will be spending the night at their schools because no one can get anywhere. First they told parents not to pick up their kids and let the buses bring them home, but most of the buses do double shifts with the HS kids leaving earlier and the elementary going home later. Now all these poor little kids are stranded and their parents can't get to them. To top it all, the phone circuits are either frozen or overloaded and most people aren't able to use their cell phones. I have never seen anything like this in my life. I think the problem arose because the storm caught us offguard and everyone was already at work or at school. Once people started driving on the ice, there were a bunch of disabled vehicles and it quickly turned into solid gridlock. Tomorrow I will post a link from our newspaper so you will see I'm not embellishing! Never a dull moment.....!

Jeanne--- So sorry to hear about your knee. I know how old that homebound thing can get. Since you can't drive, you must feel like a teenager that has been grounded. I was fortunate when I was ill this summer that my sons were home to transport me place, otherwise I would never had made it to even the doctor appointments. If it was Rich's Left leg and your right we could tie you together and you could hop around like those sack races. I hope John made it home. Snow is bad enought, but ice is the worse. We had about 2" of snow today.

Thanks heaven Johnathan and Victoria are gone. I didn't see the early show, but saw them on ET tonight and of course he is saying it was the editing. The also mentioned they are going to be on Dr. Phil in the next week, I guess Dr. Phil is going to analyze their relationship. It just adds to their 15 minutes of fame. I'm still would like Chris and Jon to win, but my friend things they are boring. I also like Lori and Boli though they are not the brightest. I saw that the next Amazing Race will start early March. So just 3 weeks from the end of this one until the new one.

I am trying not to watch American Idol, I don't think I can take another season of it. I did not watch it last night, but ET and Access Hollywood had alot about AI on it tonight.

Bette and Kim---I agree with Jeanne, I think that despite all the delays that things we meant to work out this way. Sounds like this should have a good outcome with less recovery time.

Eric--- I saw that plane on TV yesterday. In the US they have to build some bigger runways to accomdate it and will be limited airports where it will land right now. Since I don't tend to travel more than 2-3 hours by air, I guess I won't be riding on it.

Jeanne -- I can't believe what is going on in Raleigh right now. You can tell that I haven't been watching the news much lately. I will definitely watch at 11 tonight. Hope John has gotten home by now. And I can't imagine all the people that are stranded, especially the kids in school. How horrible! Phone problems, too. Well, they said in Charlotte when we have had warm weather in the middle of winter (as we just did), that there is usually some horrible weather condition that follows. Last weather forecast I heard here was that it was supposed to get up into the 40's tomorrow so I hope you all thaw out by then, at least.

Nancy,
there's usually no need for larger runways as this plane needs about half a mile less for take-off and landing than the B747, but the taxiways and terminals have to be altered to accomodate a plan that huge. In Germany it will only operate in Frankfurt and Munich, where a lot has already been modified accordingly.
The only reason for having to change a runway would be the weight, but a Galaxy or an Antonov has a bout the same weight, so large American airports should be able to cope with it.

Bette,
get well soon and we keep our fingers crossed for your procedure.

In order to accomodate the new airplane, Kennedy Airport will have to do 120 million in revovations. How outstanding that that much money is being spent. Think what could be done with that much money...give it to the Tsunami victims or hey how about the homeless or other deserving people in America. Sorry I'll get off my b**ch rag now....

On to better things....Jonathan and Victoria are gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yea!!!!At least now the show will be a little less stressful to watch by not hearing all that yelling and crying...If shes smart the first thing she does is divorce him for everything he has - even the dog....He says it was just editing. I dont think so.Hes just a real miserable & nasty person.Go Kris & Jon...

Arlene

Kim,

Thanks for keeping us updated on Bette. We're so glad that she doesn't have to have the major surgery and the lap. will work. Tell her we're thinking about her.

Or you could use the money for two to three presidential inaugurations
When the B747 was introduced airports worldwide had to be renovated too - That's the price of progress. When Frankfurt International was renovated 10 years ago they already built the terminals to accomodate the A380 - even though the plane was just a rumour then. They thought that sooner or later either Boeing or Airbus would build such a monster and just put their money on it - It was a calculated risk, but it came out great.

Bette you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Eric the main problem is going to be baggage handling and gate check in space along with taxi-way modifications. One added delay will be security screening also. I like to drive, and I even get to keep my nail clippers :cool1:

Mike

I'm trying not to talk about the weather and the driving conditions :charac2: cause I'm hoping they were just a bad dream :earboy2: ! I was out working out of the office yesterday and let's just say I was able to get home in one piece. To quote a famous person ... "vacation underwear" is not the only underwear that you use and loose!

Bette and Kim ... Thank You for keeping us up to date on poor Bette. BUT just thank God that she can now have the lap surgery and not the full extensive one initially planned. Been there, done that and really not pretty.
Then I later had to have the lap and that was a lot easier, at least once you look back on it. Give her a :grouphug: from Art, AshLee and Me.

JeanneG and Rich ... hope they can fix you up with the lap surgery too. Art has had it done on both knees and it seemed to work for him. Take care and watch the ice!

Well got to get back to work ... darn it

Oh man, I just tried to post a link and lost my entire very long post. Anyhow, here's a recap: John never made it home last night. At about 10:15 after 6 and 1/2 hours on the road he decided to spend the night at the home of a co-worker, who happened to live a few blocks (and about 45 min!) from where he was stuck. So he shows up at around 11pm with no warning (cell phones weren't working, remember) and spends the night with her family. At 9pm the Board of Ed radioed all the school bus drivers and told them to get off the road....... to pull into the nearest school. So last night we had over 3000 students (most of them young'uns) spending the night at a strange school and a whole bunch of parents who have no friggin' idea where their kids are because, remember, cell phones aren't working! Today it's beautiful out .......over forty degrees and all the ice has melted and the kids have no school because the teachers were up all night and some of the students didn't get home until about 10 am this morning when the buses started running again! Long story short, none of this would have happened if everybody stayed put when the first flakes came down and didn't PANIC! Everybody in Raleigh who owned a car (except myself, who can't drive because of a busted knee) was on the road at midday yesterday, if not to leave work early or pick up a kid from school, it was to get milk and bread because without it they would truly starve. What an embarrassment.......! and now I hear we're getting another 2 whole inches tonight......why, that's 5 TIMES what we had yesterday! Oy vey........! (or, Gosshhh!)
