Happy New Year's everyone!! I haven't been around a lot lately because of the holidays, but I've enjoyed reading everyone's posts. Christmas was good this year. However, I'm kinda happy that it's over now. Too much drama with family members for me.

We don't normally do anything special for NYE, but this year we're heading into Tampa tonight for a special Barenaked Ladies concert for NYE. It's one of Chris's favorite bands (and I like them a lot too), so my mom is watching the girls for us.

Chris and I have made resolutions that we're going to get into shape, improve our finances and organize our home for 2005. I turned 35 this past summer and I've just decided that I've had enough, so here's to not giving up in 2005.

I hope everyone has a great NYE, no matter what you do (or don't do) and I'll chat with you again in 2005.

Amy

Eric,
I forgot to warn you that Elyse picked up a Germany picture dictonary with one of her gift certificates at the mall. You might see some random German phrases posted by her. I think she posted something on the Cruistoberkids list.

It's great to hear that someone in your family started learning a decent language :earboy2:
Just teasing Ya puckerup:
If she really gets the hang of it, I'll be more than happy to provide all the help required. The younger you are when you start learning a language, the easier it is. And she can have a lot of fun with us talking about other people, pointing fingers and starting to giggle pirate: Right now we there are only five people in our group speaking German: The four Germs and Laura (LauraRN), whose German is really great.

And congrats on snatching #1200 :cheer2:

We just returned from the SriLanka/Malaysia-restaurant. They had a letter on every table informing the guests that 15% of orders and all the tips will be donated for disaster relief in SriLanka. As they are the only restaurant of that kind within about 40miles the took over the responsibility to coordinate all direct-help projects in the Frankfurt area. They're going to transfer the money to local projects in SriLanka. So after having donated online to UNICEF earlier this evening, we nevertheless beefed up our check considerably and so did a second donation.

I'm waiting for Lenny to get home from work and then it's off to Mom & Dad's to bring in the New Year. Lenny was supposed to have off yesterday and today since New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are holidays in his union, but the contractor at the job site he was working at really wanted the machine to be up and running for Monday. So the bad thing is he had to work both days, but the good news is he gets double time and a half for it. I already told him, that's for the vacation :boat: fund. Probably won't be that much after Uncle Sam gets his share though. Since Lenny was working, me and Haley had a Mommy and Haley day out. We went out to lunch and then shopping. Had a good time and spent too much money, but I got her some cute clothes.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!! :cheer2: :rockband: :cheer2:

FROHES NEUES JAHR :cheer2: :cool1:
This is 2005 greeting all of you still in 2004 :grouphug:
Now our cruise will be NEXT year - This sounds so much better, doesn't it? pirate:
Over here there was less than half the fireworks as in the last years, obviously the people did what our Secretary of State and later our President and our Chancellor recommended: 'Brot statt Böller' , which can be translated 'Bread instead of Bang', meaning that this year everyone should donate the money marked for fireworks for disasterrelief instead. It's good to see that we humans aren't as bad as we sometimes think - This gives me hope for a good 2005.

May all your wishes come true

HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all. Mike Kathy and Kids

Happy New Year Everyone!!

We're home now for the night. Tried to go out to dinner and even went early but every place was packed! Just going to watch some movies and my traditional jigsaw puzzle!

Happy New Year Eric and Anja! Saw some of the fireworks in Germany on TV a short while ago.

A quiet New Year's for us -- we are just going to bbq some steaks and lobster tail. DS isn't feeling well so he isn't going out although he went out this afternoon and spent more of his gift certificates -- he raked them in this Christmas.

Amy -- we are going to get into shape this year too -- although we are going to start slower than Eric and Anja! I turn 40 this year (thankfully at the end of the year) and have decided that I'd like to be in shape for it (although I'm not running a marathon like Oprah did!). Hopefully I'll be able to make it -- although maybe doing the half marathon next year at Disney would be a neat goal.

It rained here last night and it's actually quite warm so most of our snow is gone. It's supposed to be unseasonably warm for the next couple of days.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OUR DIS FAMILY of FRIENDS FROM ART & CATHY!

I wish you all love, health and peace of mind. Hug your families and celebrate all the great things you have and never dwell on what you wish you had...life is too short.

I'm a little embarrased that I didn't get on line sooner to wish you all a Merry Christmas. In our infinite wisdom, We decided to tackle re-doing the floors in our dining room, entrance hall, kitchen and main hall to our bedrooms ... we started the weekend of Thanksgiving. Oh ... and we also re-finished our kitchen cabinets. We hadn't done much to the floors except replace the rugs a few times since we built the house 28 years ago. Things were really starting to look like the 70's show SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gone is the wall to wall rug and 2 different linoleums and down is the pergo wood floor. The cabinets that used to be very, very, very, very dark wood with again dark hardware and IN is the new improved cottage white color with stainless and porcelain handles, new stove hood and microwave. To put it mildly Art has said "This is the VERY last project we do on our knees - I'm still picking scabs off my knees!" BUT it reallllllllllllllllly looks great, almost like new again.
Almost forgot, in the middle of our "overhaul" Art brought home a case of the whooping crud from school that had us both down for almost 10 days!

Now we're getting caught up on some sleep we went without so we'd be done by Christmas.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and I agree with Eric, it does sound better to say we cruise next year!

Have to head back out to the kitchen and clean up from our dinner ... did our own lobster tails and want to get that smelly trash out of the house. It really is a lot better when you can just sit down to it on the ship!

:grouphug: and puckerup: to all!

Hi Everyone! We hope you all have a fantastic 2005! Our 2004 was made better by all our friends here on the boards. We look forward to all the cruises and Dismeets in our future! ........Christmas was interesting yet again in our household thanks to my SIL. At 34 temper tantrums should not be allowed but she hasn't quite learned that yet. Jim has less kind words for her.

We are looking at options for Christmas next year.......
From our conversation on Cookie Night, I am somehow NOT surprised by this posting. Good luck for a better 2005 Christmas dinner!! :genie:

........We came home after midnight mass to find my son's chinchilla escaped from his cage and was running around the house with the 2 beagles chasing it. It is a wonder that the tree wasn't knocked down.......
Rich and I found this image quite funny and laughed as we read your post. We are certainly glad the Christmas tree was saved. LOL!!!

I'm still chuckling as I picture this...... :rotfl:

So sorry, but as I post this, the image is just too funny in my head. Maybe, just maybe, it is because WHITE RUSSIANS are back in season!!!!

Hope the Twins are having a great reunion!!!

.....To put it mildly Art has said "This is the VERY last project we do on our knees - I'm still picking scabs off my knees!" BUT it reallllllllllllllllly looks great, almost like new again......

Hi Guys,

Wanted to say happy new year :thewave: from mom & I .

Bye, Kim

lfortierv - Your post about not having to work on NYE prior to 9/11 will cause us to check out the listing and reexamine your occupation.

Just to clarify for you. I work full time for the Army National Guard here in Nevada. With 400,000 people celebrating NYE in Vegas we get tasked with several security missions. I had to work in a support role last night and thankfully it was another uneventful evening.

The weather here continues to be miserable. They announced the local schools will be closed on Monday so the kids are happy to extend their holiday. Looks like a great year for skiing on the other hand. More snow tonight as it just started falling again about an hour ago.

Happy New Year to all and best wishes for a wonderful 2005.
