No 'Bounced Back'-Mails this time - So everybody should have received The List.
We're going to retire now. We did the Cardio Handicap today, which is an assesment of one's fitness level. Worst is 15, best is 1. You have to do three different things for 10 minutes each: Running, Rowing, Cycling, Stairmaster. Our instructor told us that only wimps take the Stairmaster, the tough ones do Running, Rowing, Cycling. Guess what we chose

So we did a 10-minute warm-up and then we started on the treadmill with our run. After 10 minutes I had run 2.2 kilometers (~1.4 miles) and Anja 1.9km (~1.2 miles) which made us both a 3. My instructor was kind of shocked because my pulse went into the 170-range - 179 is usually the maximum for an old fart like me. When I told him that I have a maximum heart rate of 207 he stood there gaping with an open mouth.
So we went to the rowing machine. Unfortunately we hadn't done any rowing for about four years, but as I wanted to keep that 3 I started fast and had my pulse at 192 after 3 minutes and held it in the range of 195 for the remaining 7 minutes, which scored me 2.6km/1.6miles (another 3) -and nearly caused our instructor to faint- and Anja also managed to score a very good 4. Two minutes later we started on the bikes for our final leg of 10 minutes. I had to do 6.8 km/4.25miles, and Anja's target was 5.6 km/3.5miles to score another 3. I did a bit more than 8km/5miles and Anja managed nearly 7km/4.4miles. This scored a 1 for each of us. Unfortunately your classification is the value of your weakest point and so I ended up as a 3 and Anja as a 4. We then went to the Wall of Fame of our gym and were very proud to discover that there are only five ladies better than Anja, and only three guys better than me - With about 400 men and 350 ladies on the wall, and none of these people chose the rowing machine

And all were about 10 to 15 years younger. Unfortunately that system doesn't give you a bonus for age.
After that we got a free drink at the bar (Gatorade only!!) and then we did another 30 minutes on the Stairmaster to get some oxygen back into our system - And now we're dead tired. So tired that we decided to skip training tomorrow

And we also decided not to repeat that test before March or April.
