Way to go Eric ... :earseek: :earseek: Scared the p**p out of me!

Kim ... How's your leg doing? Love Gulliver's picture. Is he a ham or what!

BTW ...... (Back to work)

I still can't open up the Dutch riddle because apparently my settings are uncompatible. I'll have to try it on someone else's computer, but I gather it's a halloween prank from what's been posted here, so I'm going to brace myself!
We had exactly 77 kids last night. It was easy to keep track because I bought those large boxes of full size candy bars that you get at Costco. I had only used 5 from my 3rd box when the last kids left. I bought 4 large boxes so I'm just shipping the leftovers to my son's dorm.....they'll be gone in no time! This Halloween was so much more civilized than last year. Church groups from more rural communities would bus their kids into our neighborhood because it was considered "prime" trick or treating territory (thanks to stupid surreys by our local newspaper). For the past 4 or 5 years I always had a huge flatbed hayride that parked right in from of our house. It carried about 50 kids and a good number of beer-can carrying adults. Don't get me wrong, I love Hallween, but when you're supplying treats to over 300 kids, the pickin's get pretty slim. At least this year most of the kids that came actually live here.
I was bad today, though.......although i'm sending the full-size candy bars to college with my son, our local supermarket had all the leftover Halloween candy on sale at 50% off. The current promo (which runs Wed thru Tues) was a buy1/get1 free on all Mars fun size bags. It still holds for the reduced price, so if you buy one at the half price you got another bag completely free. It was basically 4 for the price of 1, so guess who just came home with 4 bags of candy that I definitely don't need! (I almost bought 8!!!) I won't eat a full-size bar, but those little fun-sized ones can be deadly. I hope my son comes home before I break down and open the bag. I don't want to give them away but I really don't want them in the house either. Sabotaged once again!

Thanks for the card and for asking... My achilles tendon is healing but it takes a lot of time. The calf muscle tear is healing great. I had Physical Therapy last night and I worked hard with the therapists. I have therapy about 6 hrs a week now. They anticipate that it will be at least until December before I am walking on my own, and out of a cast, then a full year for all healing to finish. I now have 5 more degrees motion in bringing my ankle up, so that is an improvement. Yippie !!! I should be golden ?? by cruise time.

Gulliver is a ham, he is so used to "mommy" with a camera that he just does what I want him to so he can go do puppy things .. Definately will have to get a new christmas photo this year..

Big hugs to you and Art,

Kim

We had 60. Sat at the neighbors and chatted, gave the kids a 3-for instead of stopping by all 3 houses. Then it started to rain!

Question for all the divers - I am paying for our diving class for Chris' Christmas gift. I am pretty sure there are a few integral pieces of equipment that we should have that we might not want to rent when diving. Before I possibly get suckered into buying more than I need, what do you guys recommend as key pieces to have for 2 adults who will probably only dive once (maybe twice) a year on our cruises and any good brands that will hold up well? Thanks for any help, Chris is chomping at the bit to get started. D:hyper2:

Denise,
we only used to own the so-called ABC: Fins, mask, and snorkel. We fared very well with this. This spring we also got ourselves some shorties, divesuits with short pants and sleeves made of 3mm-neoprene. And then we bought a huge dive-bag, which's lower portion is made from a mesh-like material to speed up drying your stuff when you carry it back to the hotel.
We intend to buy new fins with a heelstrap in Thailand next spring and probably also neoprene-socks to wear in them. That kind of fin is much better than the shoe-like fins we're using right now. We also dive only once or twice a year and so it would be a waste of money to buy regulators or BCs.

Hello all! Sorry I have been sort of quite lately! Life has me running in 6 different directions! Here are the photos from last night. We had just under 60 TorTers. Connor is the Clone Trooper and Colton is Gandolph. Off to have dinner and puppy classes!

Hi Folks,
here's a riddle from Holland: Dutch Riddle
The Dutch words say: Find the three errors in the right picture. It's really difficult. I needed more than two minutes to find them!!!
Eric--Congratulations! I showed a co-worker. After screaming "Oh my God!" an octave lower than normal, and peeling her heart from the ceiling, she said, "That's not very Disney!" :rotfl:

She also commented, after all those beautiful pictures of Gulliver, she has to face that! :earseek:

Hi all and a very belated Happy Halloween. Mine was spent on a 13 hour coach journey back from London with 35 pupils. We had a great trip but it is exhausting shepherding them all. Stayed on a naval gunship and were locked in for the night - that was fun!!!
Wendy

Wendy: glad you survived the class trip. I have had my share of overnight chaperone responsibilities so I can well imagine your fatigue!

Michelle: Cute costumes! The photo of the boys with all the candy brought me down memory lane.......when my kids were younger, their favorite thing about Halloween was not the T or T'ing.........it was coming home and dumping everything on the living room carpet so they could begin the "trade"!

To the tablemates: I took care of linking our ressies for dinner....it's a done deal.

Jeanne, I too, was tempted by the half off candy today, but I remembered ALL that we have at home and changed my mind! WHY do we do that to ourselves? I am just as guilty of self-sabotage! As for the candy photo...USUALLY, it is all in the middle of the floor, however, since we have Daisy, we now have to move everything up! Also, what they did was took out all the chocolate! All the chocolate is in one basket and the rest in another. We just combine all the treats together...always have, always will!

Off to bed! Another busy day awaits!
Night ya'll!

Wishing you a wonderful day also! :flower:

Beautiful morning...warmer 50's, sunny, and the trees are finally changing! It's taking them a while this year. I love Fall! :)

Good morning everyone, is is Friday yet ??

Bye, Kim

Thanks Jeanne :wave2:

Wendy,
13 hours in a coach with 35 students? Must be hell - especially driving on the wrong side of the road :earboy2:

Morning :confused3
I'll leave work in 10 minutes for the gym - Unfortunately under overcast skies. It has been raining on and off the whole day, but that is an improvement over yesterday as it poured then. At least the temperatures are still in the upper 50ies/lower 60ies.

Forgot to tell this story:
While we were in New England Anja's dad intended to do some home improvement on his son's house. He set up scaffolding of about 10 feet height, climbed up it, started drilling holes into a wall, and then the whole contraption tipped over. He got buried under some boards and stuff, but managed to slide along the floor to prevent more stuff fallingon him. Unfortunately he couldn't get up and had to shout for help. Some neighbours heard him, freed him from all the rubble and called 112 (911 in Germany). He was very lucky: Just some severe bruises, sprains, and and a mild fracture of the pelvis - Spine and head are OK (Perhaps not totally, because otherwise hew would have secured the scaffolding ;) ) He's already on the mend and hopefully we can celebrate his 65th BD next month as planned.

Michele ... Not sure where you got that cute white dog outfit for Daisy, but boy it's really realistic :dog: ... Oh wait, that's your fur child!

Eric ... Tell Anja we wish her dad well and maybe next time he should anchor the scaffold better! At least he can laugh about it now.

BTW

Yup,
Daisy is one of the cutest doggies we know - together with Cherry, Maisy & Gulliver of course.

Cathy,
it wasn't the first scaffolding he built and usually he always anchors them to the wall. Even he can't explain why he didn't this time :confused3

I think the journey down was worst - 4am and they were still singing! We are very lucky though and they are well behaved - rarely do they see the dragon side of me!

Thank you Anja & Eric !! WE RESEMABLE THAT..

Who is this Daisy !! ;) And A Big Shout out to Gulliver.. Cherry & Maisy

Kim -- I think I sent you our reservation number many moons ago. If you need me to send it again, do you prefer that I wait until after January 1? It makes the cruise seem so much closer to talk about table reservations!

Thank goodness Anja's dad was not more seriously injured, altho his injuries sound pretty extensive.

Pixie dust to Anja's Dad. We wish him a speedy recovery. Mike and Kathy

For all the die-hard Survivor fans, here's something you may enjoy: (my daughter Jen with Ethan!)

IMGP0110.JPG

Please let me know if you can see it.

Yikes, that was terrible mishap for Anja's dad.....I'm glad he's doing better!

Michelle: you're just a better woman than I am for not buying the candy!
