I was on the Nov. 12, 2005 cruisemeet board and a post concerned me, so I made a comment (which I really can't defend now, since the OP edited her post and I didn't quote it in time, and made up a new story on a new post, making me look like the bad guy). Well, I got chewed up and spit out, misquoted, name-called, you name it. It's like the game "whisper down the lane". Each post added something I didn't say or didn't imply, making me out to be some kind of monster. It grows and grows. Hopefully, they'll find some other outsider to attack. Geesh! and these are the disboards.
Laura :flower:
Don't worry about it, Laura. Have a cup of coffee on me. :goodvibes (And maybe something in it? :drinking1 ) We all love you here. And I could tell that DISNURSE edited her post as late as 10 am.

Well, put me on the DL. I've been sick all week. The kids had this last week & early this week, and they're both feeling better now. I think I'm right in the middle of it. I thought it was just a cold, but I had a slight fever Thursday, and others are telling me you don't normally get fevers with colds. All of you nurses out there, do you agree?

I hope I'm over this by Monday--my kids still like to go trick-or-treating. What are the kids dressing up as this year? David is Darth Vader (really cool mask--voice changer & everything!), and Heidi's an angel/devil. The dress is half white, half red. She's got a half halo, half horn for her head. It's kind of cute.

Well, it's time to go lie down again. I've managed to do some laundry and go grocery shopping (why don't Moms ever get to stop?).

Wow! I am glad you guys were on my first cruise last year and so welcoming! I don't know what the original post was but am glad you stuck to your guns! What I like about Cruisetoberfesters is everyone can talk and disagree if need be, but no ugliness here!

Have a safe and happy Halloween! We are grilling out with the block and handing out candy at the same time! I am giving out full sized candy bars to the kids, I hope the parents don't hate me! D

Marianne, get better soon! Steve had the fever, Colton and I didn't. If you have a fever, I believe that means you have an infection! I hope you get better quickly! I was shopping and doing wash too!

Colton will be Trick Or Treating as Gandolph and Connor is going as a Clone Trooper. I have to hem Colton's costume as it's too long and meant for an adult. Just add it to my list of stuff I didn't get done today! YIKES!

Hi guys, feeling alittle better now. Kim, Marianne, and Eric ....you guy's are so sweet and you can't imagine how I needed to hear your posts today. Like I said, I'm not one for comfrontation, but PMS got the best of me today and it was a bit rough. I'm so glad to be part of your group. I couldn't imagine us attacking an outsider the way this group did today. I tried to explain myself, only to receive laughter and more personal jabs. Oh well. Learned my lesson.
Kim, what's the story on the pheasant, I need to back track and read about this!
Take care,
Laura

:goodvibes Laura don't let them bother you. It's sometimes amazing what people take offence at. I once posted that we took a kettle and people said we shouldn't be cooking in the rooms!

Marianne hope that you're feeling better soon. My SIL is the only mother I know that doesn't have to keep going when she's 'sick'. Long story there. :goodvibes

We bought a ditigal camera yesterday -- can't remember the brand or description other than it's a 4 pixel though. I know that we could have gotten a higher pixel count but we just wanted a starter camera and it was only $100 Cdn so we figured it fit the bill. I'm not sure if the girl at the counter was impressed though -- she's all of about 20 and she couldn't believe it when I looked blankly at her as she was telling us about memory sticks. She had 2 different 512MB things and said one had a different number than the other -- I just said and this means???? One is faster than the other and I laughed and said faster how? Has something to do with speed of the pictures. I don't know which one we bought either -- I took the one with the $20 mail in rebate! :goodvibes

Jim's read the manual and says it's easy so we'll see.

It's supposed to warm up today so we may be raking leaves later.

Up early as the dog didn't realize the time changed last night!

Fiona

Laura,
there are even worse people on another internet site and most shocking: There are some ex-cruisetoberfesters among them. But you're right in saying that nobody was ever -and will ever be- attacked like this on our thread.

We got the Frankfurt Marathon going on right now. Weather is perfect for it at about 16°C/61°F under blue skies. Anja and I did a leisurely 7.5miles in an hour before a late breakfast and now we're watching the marathon on TV. My BIL runs it, he's quite good. He usually does it in about 2:45. He's got the pefect body for it at about 5'7'' and 120lbs and he does nothing else but running - apart from his job as a butcher ;)
Anja has to to the lateshift again today, so I'll spend the evening with Gramps watching a DVD.

Thanks for the well-wishes. I'm glad today's Sunday--maybe I'll get some more rest.

Fiona, I'm surprised Eric didn't have any comments about your camera. As long as it takes pictures, and once in a while you can upload them to your computer, I guess it's perfect, right? :confused3 Good luck & have fun with it.

Okay, now you've got me. What does the dog knowing that the time changed have anything to do with it??? :dog: :rotfl:

Daisy didn't relize that the time changed last night either, so she was up early too. Of course, it didn't help that I forgot my cough medicine last night and kept coughing keeping her and I up. I thought about taking her out at 3, then maybe we could have stayed in bed later! But it was so cold!!! Now, she sleeps....UGH!

Happy Sunday everyone!!!!

Marianne,
when I wrote my post Fiona's wasn't on the thread yet :earboy2:
On Friday one of my coworkers came to me and showed me a 4Megapixelcam he had bought during his lunchbreak at a nearby mall for €99. When I saw that it only had a digital zoom instead of an optical I explained the difference to him - During his coffee-break three hours later he returned it :rotfl2:
I'd rather have a 2megapixel-cam with a good lens than an 8megapixel-cam with digital zoom only.
Fiona,
the 'fast memory' only has advantages when you do serial shots. The camera needs some time to write the data onto the memorycard. When you have a faster card you can shoot your pics faster - But only when your camera supports that faster card. A camera in the lower price range most probably won't do that. With a 4megapixel cam you can save about 300-350pics onto your 512MB card at the highest quality setting. If that's not sufficient during the cruise you may always use my laptop to save them to a CD or DVD. Disney want's $14.99 for it - I take a hug ;)

To everyone suffering from a cold: ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

:dog2: Ok, you don't have to say it....

I'll say it....

Duh!!!

I just realized what it means when the dog doesn't know about the time change. He/she woke you an hour earlier to go out, yes? :dog:

As Heidi would say, I'm blonder than I pay for.

Hi Eric! Very cool for the Frankfurt airport! So, they're all at Ramstein now? Is Bamberg still open? That was our home for 3 yrs.

Oh! I meant to tell you I had my first German speaking patient in a while. It was fun to chat with them. They were from Sulz. Very sweet!
Bye for now,
Laura :flower:
we did not flame her for noting but it was for how she attacked someone that took a 5 min break and log on to tell us about her day at work. Our cruise page has over 2100 repies and this one statement was made by one person that was picked up and flamed on.We did not add anything to your post but we did explained to you how we felt about someone we have come to know.We are not in H.S any more so lets all go on with our lives.

Hi guys,

Let's just ignore this, trolling to start trouble is childish ....

:wave2: what should have been a dead subject has gotten WAY out of hand.
Watch what you say about others....especially in the light of hear-say, please. We all have the same intent on the DIS BOARDS, right....?
Let's all act like adults and get on with our own business of planning great vacations. :flower:

First of all, to all of my Cruisetoberfest friends...I SINCERELY apologize for bringing this issue over this way and I take full responsibility for that.

Bettemom- I agree.

DIS NURSE- Let's agree to let this go now. It's run its course. Yes, we'll move on to plan our magical vacations. :wizard:

Eric I recently purchased an Olympus E1 digital SLR and gave the Canon digital Rebel to Katie's mom.

Fiona enjoy your new camera and you will love digital. So easy to erase bad photos and if you are in the states, you can go to Walmart with your memory card and get photos printed in one hour for 19 cents a print. Mike

Cool camera, Mike.

Bette, Kim & Laura,
I really don't know what you're talking about ;) - I guess my jerk-filter automatically weeded out those trolls' posts :rotfl2:

Hey Mike & Cathy,

Mike, since you are such a good camera geek, please help me. I have an Olympus digital ( about 5 yrs old) that I love!!!, However, when you take a photo and look on the screen it is perfect, then when I download the photo to the computer photo program the photos all look dark... My manual is no help, any suggestions ??

Love & Hugs, Kim

Kim,
that sounds stupid, but simply change the brightness and contrast settings of your computer screen. ;)
When I look at pictures om my notebook they look slightly different than on my conventional desktop computer. Even the two 19''-flatscreens I have a the office hshow slight differences although they are the same model.

Thanks Eric, I will check the camera settings.

Ave' , Just sent you a PM.

Bye, Kim

Kim download a trial version of adobe photoshop elements and the open your photos and enhance them using automatic levels, contrast and color correction. All photos that are digital could use a little post processing. Mike
