I know that Chris wants to go parasailing at CC. He did it on Cruisetoberfest II and he plans on doing it again on our DVC member cruise this Sept. He keeps trying to get me to do it, but I use the excuse that I have to watch the girls.

Just an informal question, how many are going to parasail at castaway cay on our cruise. I did it last time and it was a hoot. Although I did get dunked once getting reeled back in. :cool1:
I don't think we will this time. We had it scheduled for one of our past cruises, but it was cancelled due to winds. Now, I think I've totally lost the guts to do it! :confused3

Count me in for the parasailing.....and maybe I'll even get to do it this time! The CM at Serenity Bay told me it was cancelled due to the wind, so I never showed up for my appt. I couldn't believe it when later that day the rest of the gang told me what a great experience it was! At least I didn't get charged for it......DCL must have realized they got their signals crossed. When shall we do it this trip...... first or second CC visit? I'm kinda partial to getting it over with so I can totally relax that last day!

Eric, I thought you are "in aviation?"

Yes, I am - But I'm a man of many talents
I started as a volunteer first aider at age 15, became an EMT at 16, and a full-fledged paramedic at 19 and started doing it professionally after High School. At 22 I received my license as a first-aid-instructor, which I extended to EMT-instructor a year later. In 1989 I eventually became an instructor for paramedics. And in 1993 I switched into aviation going to ATC-Academy to become an Air Traffic Controller. Unfortunately this was exactly the time when ATC was converted from a Government Institution into a private company, which led to a surplus of personnel. This is how I ended up with my present company in 1995 - Which I consider as one of the best things that ever happened to me (After Anja, of course).
I later let my license as a paramedic expire, but still hold my license as a first-aid-instructor and do volunteer work for St. Johns Ambulance Srvice in the Training Dept on weekends. Additionally I set up an Emegency Medical Service in my company with about 30 first aiders, who I train personally.
And my major in High School was biology and chemistry.

;) No Parasailing for us, but we want to do the Jetski-Tour. Anybody wanna join us?
BTW, we can use this as first entries for our Activity List.
I volunteer to be the Jetski-Captain, everybody who wants to join reports to me and I put them on the Activity List.

Mike,
what about you being Sky Captain?

Also elegible for the Activity List:
-Dining Groups

And I had an idea for the Karaoke Evening:
Everybody who knows me, also knows that I would rather be keelhauled than sing Karaoke, but I had a splendid idea (I hope :confused3 )
I just listened to the Beatles on my iPod. When I heard 'Yellow Submarine' and the line 'All or friends are aboard and many of them live next door' I thought 'Wouldn't it be swell if as many of us as possible would get onto that stage and sing that song?' And as encore we could do 'An Octopus's Garden'.
I would dig up the lyrics and mail 'em to everyone, and I can also mail both songs as an mp3-file.

I might like to try parasailing but know for sure that Jim won't so if I go I'd like to go with people I know. I'm terrified of heights but figure I can do anything once, surrounded by friends.

Like your idea about Karoake night Eric. If it's a group I'll sing because you'll all drown out my voice (or lack thereof!).

BTW - urgent problem has developed that has to be solved by Tuesday. Am hoping that after I pull some old files I can dump the problem into someone else's lap.

Fiona

Eric, Thanks for the explanation. Things make more sense more.

Mike, I'd like to parasail. I've done it once or twice and it was fabulous. I doubt I'll do it at CC though since A.) my dare devil little son would not be eligible to do it too and B.) It seems a little pricey for 5 minutes in the air.

Does anyone know if the new Passporter has info on the Special Western and its ports?

We're off for a long holiday weekend in Charleston then it is back for more of the end-of-the-school-year-marathon.

Have a nice Memorial Day Weekend everyone.

Well, I actually sing worse than I play golf, but I think Eric has a wonderful idea. With all the wonderful voices in our group, I'm sure mine will be drowned out!
Fiona: my hubby won't skydive either......we can give each other support. I'm also scared to do it but more excited to say that I've actually DONE it, and so I will give it a shot. That's why I want it on the first day......so I'll have it all behind me and won't have to think about it!
Nancy: got your phone message. See you tomorrow, girlfriend! (And I'll have your numbers just in case something happens to put us off schedule). I'm so excited!

Eric, I'll get on stage, but I will only mouth the words. I do not want to be held responsible for an mutiny. :rotfl: DS Case is very good in a canoe, but I think 3 days would be a bit much for him and the others in the group. Maybe next year.
I personally have NO problem with the kids wearing uniforms. But I can't tell my DD that. I will go to the meeting because DD has asked me to, and I will voice her opinion. I don't think it will do any good, but I'll try.
I think the kids spend too much time focused on what they are wearing, who's got what, and who isn't wearing the "in" thing. I went to Catholic School for several years, so uniforms were just a fact of life for me.
Tracy, I loved your "at the com" picture. Great job with the photos. And enjoy your trip.
Later,
Avé

Sky Captain Mike reporting aboard sir. I am starting the fly in the sky list.

With all the DWs in the air all the DHs should perhaps think about taking up Skeet Shooting :rotfl2:

Ave,
I like your remark about 'three days with Casey may be too much for the others' :rotfl: So he hasn't changed a bit ;)

Thanks for taking over the position of Sky Captain, Mike :wave2:

It's 9am and we're leaving for the Weseler Wharf near Frankfurt's West Harbour now. At 1110am our first run will take place - Keep your fingers crossed for us. Will post the results later.

Good question. I've been holding off updating mine because I want a really up-to-date version.

Hello all! Did you think I forgot about you? :sunny: Well, as JJMama put it, we are in the end of school year marathon! Field day, field trips, and it's just been so pretty we have spent a LOT of time outside! Also, we have been doing some work on the new truck...re-installing the radio, new DVD playerS...yes they each have their own AND a PS2! Yes, the boys are SPOILED ROTTEN! It's just been hectic around here! :bounce:
Amelia is BEAUTIFUL! Seeing her photo still makes me yearn to have another! :lovestruc
I am ALL FOR School Uniforms...and not neccessarily a plaid jumper with a white top! Just plain golf/polo tops with docker-type pants. Nothing wrong with that! :teacher:
We might be up for parasailing! We talked about doing it on the last cruise, but decided to spend the day with the boys. Now, Colton might be big enough to do it..and he wanted to last time. I'll look into it more and let you know, Mike!
Karoake...hhhmmmm...won't get me up there by myself, but I am up for a group sing! That sounds like fun! Thanks to my folks, I may even know ALL the lyrics to those 2 songs! I'll have to dig out my Beatles CDs and start refreshing my memory!
Eric...your comment about Skeet shooting......MEN! :earboy2: Good Luck on your race! :cool1:
Well, I think that is all.....I hope this finds everyone happy and healthy! OH! I almost forgot! I FINALLY got the results of my ultrasound! The radiologist reports finding nothing abnormal...just normal breast tissue! Which is GOOD, but what did the Dr feel in the first place? The RN said it could have been a swollen gland. I don't have to go back for another year, but you can bet that I will be more diligent in my monthly self-exams! ::yes::
Have a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Hi Folks,
we're back from the races.
We finshed second out of three in the first race. If we had won that race we would have reached the quarter finals instantly. We lost that race by about about 2m/6ft.
So we had to do a second heat in the afternoon. We spent those four hours eating icecream, playing frisbee, basking in the sun (35°C/95°F), and palying cards.
The second race:
We jumped off the startline like being bitten by a rattlesnake :earboy2: and after the acceleration phase we already were 3m/10ft ahead of the second boat and 5m/15ft ahead of the third. The acceleration phase consists of three powerful strokes to get the boat moving (20 people & the boats weight come to about 2 metric tons/4400lbs), and then 10 strokes pushing up the frequency with each stroke. After that you switch into 'cruise-mode' directed by the drummer in front of the boat. According to our coworkers and friends ashore, who cheered for us, the 18 paddlers were synchronous through the whole race. It appeared as we were all connected by invisible links ;)
This way we managed not even to hold the gap, but to increase it to more than a boat's length at the finishline :Pinkbounc :bounce:
So we're qualified for the Quarter Finals. The off-side: We have to be a the Wharf tomorrow at 0930am as the race starts at 1010am.
We're very proud of us as we competed against teams, which already did race last year, and we were the newbees!!

Congrats on the good news about your ultrasound, Michele!!

Thanks Eric and CONGRATS to you on a wonderful race! Be sure to get a good nights rest and let us know how tomorrow goes! BTW, I thought of you and Anja as I was shopping our Sam's Club. They had Resses of all kinds! What would you like specifically? Also, any games you would like, I will be happy to send!

I have to look at the Reeses Website for the treats, but I guess right now is
the wrong time to send chocolate: We had 95°F today and as far as I know our mail delivery trucks are not airconditioned :sunny:

Michel and Allen,

thanks for offering to get those games for me, I really appreciate the offer!!!
But after surfing the web today for some time I found a webshop -which is even located in my hometown- that offers the games for about the same they cost in the States. They obviously import them in large numbers from Japan and thus can sell them at very competitive prices - and they even don't charge for P&P!!
So once again: Danke schön :wave2:

Talking about the Surprise Eggs:
What about us bringing them in September when we come to Boston? We could then mail them from there and the temps should be better for sending chocolate.

Congratulations on your finish positions Eric and Anja.

Been kind of warm here today 28 degrees C. No rain in sight.

FBI arrested 4 of our state senators Wednesday and one of them was the guy who said that the public did not need to know about his business. Wish I could have seen him in the handcuffs and ankle shackles. Priceless :rotfl2:

Jean - confirmed and Jim has no interest in parasailing so we'll leave the men behind!

Michele - great news about the ultrasound.

Eric - congrats on the race - I did something similar as a kid and it was a lot of fun.

Went to the baseball game today and the Jays lost again but still went at it in the bottom of the 9th which was great to see. Heard about Boston umm handling the Yanks -- 17-1. There were probably some not so happy Yankees fans there since the game was in NY!

It's not 95 here but it's been ok although it's looked like rain all day.

Have to be at the game early tomorrow and it's Mr. Sub sportsbag day -- this year it's black but we use the blue one from a couple of years ago -- shows you're a true fan. They have given them out every year for about 20 some years and I think we have some from the 80's somewhere in the house.

DS is still sick and is set to go back to the doctor on Monday - he went out this afternoon but doubt he'll be going back out tonight. Told him not too although that doesn't mean that he'll listen to me. He's at the age where he knows everything and Mom knows nothing -- I have a few more years to go before I recover any knowledge in his eyes but I can see it coming.

Fiona
