CRSNDSNY - Welcome back to the thread. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NEW BABY!!!!!! Please refresh this old mind of mine and tell me about her. I don't remember anything about a baby or a pregnancy among any cruisers. When we meet, can I hold her?

Hi!
We had Amelia 8 weeks early on April 23rd. I wasn't due until June 14th! I have a blood clotting disorder and suffered from severe preeclampsia, so after weeks of bedrest she had to arrive early. She spent 3 weeks and 1 day in NICU, but is now home and doing really well! I have some pictures on webshots at: http://community.webshots.com/user/mfpriebe

Of course you can hold her! :) She'll be about a year and a half at the time of our cruise next year so perhaps you can run after her because she may not want to be held anymore! LOL I'm sure she'll be running around all over the place by that time!

Melody

Congratulations on the new baby, Melody :wave2:

Mike,

here's a link to the Dragonboat-Race All the info is also provided in English. Just click on the button ENGLISH to get there. Frankfurt is a very international city and so usually most websites are available in German and in English.

Melody, you have a beautiful baby girl. She will be almost exactly a year younger than my little girl Madison. Maddie turned one on April 28th. They can run the Flounder's workers ragged.

Amy - Thank you! Your sig picture is beautiful!!! What has your experience with Flounders been? I'm assuming Emily has spent time in there? Any tips or suggestions?

Melody and EB...Amelia is beautiful....love her hair and the way that it comes in a peak!! Can't wait to meet up with you guys and hey....we'll get to hold her first!! Mary Jo

Melody - Yes, Emily did spend some time in Flounders. She had just turned 2 at the time and had only been in the church nursery before the cruise. She loved it, and we thought that the staff in there was great. They really seemed to do well with the babies.

Melody - Amelia is adorable.

DS called and he's on sick leave for the next 2 days - appears he hasn't yet licked the bronchitis so he's coming home for the weekend. He also said that he had a resting pulse rate of 102 which I know isn't good. Is this usual with bronchitis? - a question for all the nurses. He will be going back to the doctor although he said that he had been on the base and now has a prescription for something and a puffer. Anyway he sounds miserable and my mother has gone to get him.

Back to work -- tonight have a dinner to attend. It's our firm taking one of our biggest clients out for Christmas dinner (last Christmas) - it's actually early this year as it has been as late as June. It's me and a bunch of men -- tolerable until some of them start to make comments about the women coming into the restaurant. It will be a thrill. Food is good though. Jim is thankful this is one he doesn't have to attend even though no ties are required!

Fiona

Congratulations Melody, Amelia is beautiful.

I responded to your PM Fiona. Hope that your son is doing better. How is his training going in the Canadian Army?

Eric thanks for the link to the dragon boats looks interesting.

For some that have visited the thread and complained that we do not discuss the cruise much, I am sorry that there are not more posts on the cruise. As it draws closer more cruise details will be discussed. We are not a cult, but a bunch of people that have cruised together 4 or 5 times and enjoy one another's company. All are welcome on this thread and I am sure that we will make many new friends onboard. It helps to break the ice by knowing people before you board and no one is under any obligation to join in any functions at all. After all as someone said before, It is your vacation and only you can decide how you will spend it. Just my two cents. Mike

News Alert! The world is coming to an END!!!! They have just announced that all Bay County Schools children will be required to wear......gasp.....uniforms when school starts up again in Aug. DD is horrified! :scared1:  :crazy2: :scared:
I promised to go to the School Board meeting on June 7th to pass on her feelings. Now I am a "cool mom". :goodvibes

House Alert! We now have a temp. power pole. :cheer2: I'm ready to move in.

Beautiful baby Melody! A Disney fan in the making. :earsgirl:

Eric and Anja, Brother-in-law George is taking the kids (Regina, George Jr. and daughter Mary) on a 3 day canoe trip down EconFina starting tomorrow. :earseek: The twins are staying home! ;)

Forget it, Honey :earboy2:
It takes more than that for a Euopean the have a red face :rotfl2:
And BTW I said '6 inches'!! If I had said 12 inches I could understand your associations :teeth:
:rotfl2:
Ok, I can think of quite a few retorts to that remark, but seeing as I have a reputation for being censored, I think it best to follow Papa's lead and shut my mouth (for a change!)

Fiona: hope your son is feeling better

Melody: what a precious little baby!

 Congratulate me.....I just figured out how to do the smilies! (Idiot!)

Nancy: I'm just about to send you a pm!

Tracy - Those pictures are NOT geeky!! Kinda neat to see the "behind the scenes" action of the posting marathon. Thanks again for your effort and, again, have a great time on the west coast.

Melody - Thanks for the link to Amelia's pictures. You and your hubby are just beaming in those shots. So happy for your new family. Our DS was also premie. His due date was September 8th and he was born July 3rd, weighing 2 lbs, 12 ounces. Spent 5 1/2 weeks in the hospital before going home. He is going to be 21 years old this summer.

Hey MaryJo - You and Melody are meeting up? Give that baby a special hug from me!!

Ave - Don't be too adamant in demanding that uniforms not be worn, think of all the money you can save on clothing bill! LOL You and Mary enjoy your twins' weekend!

Fiona - How'd the dinner go? Not a nurse but if your son has a fever, I would think the pulse rate could go up. Hope he feels better asap.

:wave2: Hi Eric! -- :wave2: Hi Mike! -- :wave2: Hi Jeanneg (and congrats on doing the smilie thing!!!) :3dglasses

DS says that he's feeling ok but he's been in bed since he got home -- not usual behaviour for an 18 year old. I don't expect to come home when he's home and find a car in the driveway. Anyway he's taking his puffer as instructed and is due to go back to the doctor on Monday. We have a 1800 health care line here staffed by nurses so I called it as I was concerned about his heart rate -- shouldn't have bothered as because he's 18 the nurse had to talk to him rather than me and he's not that concerned so didn't push the point and ask questions. Insert sigh here -- yes I know he's an adult but to me he's still my baby.

Dinner - well the food was good. Company was ok -- I love watching some men get drunk although thankfully they were not driving home. It was me and nine other men. Luckily I was spared listening to the female feature comments as the restaurant wasn't that busy. It's really not that bad and luckily it wasn't on a good tv night but I am thankful that it's only once a year.

Must get to bed now as have to be at work early as I have a lot to finish up tomorrow before the weekend.

Fiona

Ave,
isn't Casey going on the canoe trip? He survived the double-capsizing in our canoe so he should be well prepared far anything that may come up ;)
School uniforms are unheard of in Germany. But many schools made voluntary agreements that the kids all wear the same shirts and sweaters as brand-clothing got a bit out of hand. Some kids were mobbed because they didn't wear 'the right brand'. So the students, the parents and the teachers agreed to introduce a dresscode.

Fiona,
at 18 you're not fully grown, so the resting pulse may be a bit higher anyway. Additionally as a rule of thumb the pulse quickens by 10 beats per minute for each degree (Celsius) of fever. Let's say he has a temperature of 38°C, which is common with a bronchitis, his pulse may very well be 102: resting pulse of about 80, plus about 15 for the fever, plus another 5 to 10 for a nervous Mom running in circles around him ;)

Thanks Eric. I was just concerned because his resting pulse is actually around 60ish -- he's in a lot better shape than his mother is! He thinks I'm worrying too much which I probably am but can't help it.

Am tired this morning as stayed up so late last night but thankfully it's Friday.

Fiona

Thank you SO much everyone! :goodvibes And yes, she definitely is a little Disney fan in the making. We are already planning her first trip 'home' for next May. We can't wait to show her everything -- it will be like going to Disney for the first time! :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Amelia was born 8 weeks early because of complications I was having (blood clotting disorder and severe preeclampsia). We are so fortunate that she is healthy -- and although she spent a few weeks in NICU, she's just small. As her pediatrician says, "We just need to grow her!" :wizard: Good things come in small packages you know! LOL

Yes, MaryJo and I are going to meet up later this summer -- we actually live quite close to one another.
Again everyone -- THANK YOU! We can't wait to meet everyone on this cruise!!!

Ave,
I have to agree about not being too upset about the uniforms. Although I know it is hard for children to understand the change, schools usually make this decision to combat behavioral problems. As a former high school teacher, I have seen first hand the problem that clothes (too short, too provacative, too large, too expensive, too cheap...) can cause. This most likely is not a random decision that the school board made and I am sure they do not take it lightly.

However, your daughter will certainly appreciate your standing up for her feelings and maybe they can come to some compromise.

Eric, I thought you are "in aviation?"

Just an informal question, how many are going to parasail at castaway cay on our cruise. I did it last time and it was a hoot. Although I did get dunked once getting reeled back in. :cool1:
