Eric..I think you and I are going to get along just fine!

I have a friend from the States who lived in Dormagan for 2 years. Her DH works for Bayer. She got us hooked on Kinder Schokolade! She would send us Kinder bars whenever she sent a package home. Also, she would send the boys what we called Eggs. They are the schokolade with toys inside! I was really careful not let the boys have too many at a time so they would last longer! They are gone now! I would in turn, send her chocolate chips so she could make cookies as well as other things she could not get there.
Can't WAIT to see photos of the new car! Sounds pretty! I am glad you got the deal you wanted!
Michelle,
not only you call 'em eggs: Their official name is Überraschungseier, which means surprise eggs. They're available virtually everywhere over here. Usually they're displayed near the register of supermarkets, gas stations, department stores, etc. Just in easy reach for kids

Momma, I want one!!! Dad, can I hav a Surprise Egg!!

Although some supermarkets have specially designated 'temptation-free' registers - but have you ever tried to steer a kid towards one of those?
People - Adult people!!!- collect those toys from inside the eggs, there are even conventions for collectors to trade and sell them. They're at least as crazy as Disney Pin Traders

In my department a Surprise Egg is the typical 'currency' to thank someone for a favour done. I only have to look left and right of my two computer screens to see several of those toys. Last year they had a special with 'Lord of the Rings'-figurines, people went berserk to get them all!!! Then there is a xmas-calendar available with 24 eggs in it, and during Easter and Xmas-season there are special eggs available, which are about half the size of an American football with huge toys and lots of small solid chocolate eggs in it.
BTW, the company producing them is located in Frankfurt (Headquarters) and surrounding townships (Production facilities).
If you're really like them so much we could start a TTT (Transatlantic Treat Transfer)

Anja & I love Reeses!!!
I can check out the postage and the customs regulations. Or I can bring some in September/October to Boston and mail 'em from there.
Just half an hour the salesman from the Frankfurt dealership called me regarding the car and said he couldn't match the other offer, but would give his right arm to know how this guy did it

When I told him, that last Friday I was prepared to place my order with him, if his boss (The salesman had a day off then) had given me an offer for our old car, he made some strange noises

I told him, that I only started looking for another office, because he and his boss were too slow to make the deal.
I even called him on Tuesday to ask for the numbers at 1230pm, but he said 'Sorry, we're closing at 1pm, because we want to go the fairground to celebrate'. I told him today that I didn't want to force him to sell me a car
I must admit, that rubbing it in that way was fun
