1 Year to SAVE!!!

You have all inspired me. We've saved our change since forever and used it formtripsmand such. We have a jar going now.

We have 2 girls ages 4 and 21 months. For holidays and the like if they get money, I throw it in the Disney jar. I'll do the same for birthdays. I also throw a few dollars in there too. Like if I bring coffee from home, I throw the amount that I would've spent on itin there. Not going until dec of 2012 but hoping the pay cash for the trip.

I have been following this thread for some time and you're all amazing at coming up with your WDW funds! DH and I decided this past week that we will finally be going on our 1st WDW trip with our 2 girls DD8 & DD11. We are going Sept. 22-30, 2012 and hoping for free dining!!! We need to save about 4000.00 and unfortunately can't officially start saving until February due to some financial obligations that has to be taken care of first. But I am squeezing some $ here & there and have some $ from Christmas. I know we don't have a whole year to save but we do have 9 months and I think it is very possible if we put our minds to it. We are starting a jar for all our change to go in, plus using using coupons when grocery shopping and going to try to sell some stuff on craigslist and at consignment store. We have a weekly budget for bills, groceries & etc so going to try to manage to go under budget and save some money each week. Then if finances are back on track by the time we get our income tax return going to put up @ $500 for our trip.

Doing pretty good! I'm $30 shy of $1000 but I've just put the deposit down on POFQ so that knocked it down a bit....that still counts towards my total though! Now that Christmas is over I'm going to dump the piggy bank and see what's in there. Need to save a bit more then originally planned since my original numbers were based on Pop but I decided having the coffee pot and fridge of POFQ would be to my advantage (and to dd's since I can make my own coffee and she avoids seeing Mom going through caffine withdrawal! )

Excellent. I knew about Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex. We are doing T-Rex.. now we will do Yak and Yeti. I am excited to find another restaurant I can get gift cards for.

Well I sold some stuff on craigslist this morning so my total has come down just a little.

Every year around the first my husband check our free annual credit report, call to get interest rates lowered and get our trash bill reduced.

I scored a 120.00 a year back in my pocket from the trash hauler. I talked them down from 99.99 a quarter to 64.99 a quarter.

I have 3 credit cards I closed that do not show closed but they are not open today so i will have to follow up tomorrow

I was able to reduce cards interest as well.

up next is insurance shopping ... blah

I have the Landry card so I am excited I get a $25 credit in my birthday month. I think I am using it at TRex. We also usually go to the Rainforest Cafe near us for Birthdays so I may even earn more than the $25 by then

I have not included any money I earned towards amazon.com, I figure I won't count tat $$ until I order something and cash out to myself. And my totals for coupons are low because I "donated" some of my savings back into the meager post-holidays grocery trip, and the cans are high because we usually do not have that many empty soda bottles. Oh and so far each of the four kids has $15 saved towards souvenirs

I have never heard of this. Ours is a contract through our suburb, the only one available, and we all pay the same. I'm guessing yours isn't like that? (Lucky!)

just found this thread, is it to late to join in! Just had this conversation with family last night, we so want to go to Disney World again but need to save money. Goal is for Febuary 2013. Have asked the family to come up with creative ways to save. Today I thought twice about stopping by the local coffee shop for a coffee instead I brewed at home. Thinking thats a $2.00 start.

Chipping away at this total makes me happy. Should have the resort, dining, and park passes paid off. Then I will start the spending money saving. We will be driving to help save money. Next Christmas we are asking grandparents to get the kids Disney gift cards.

I opened an ING account a couple of years ago and have money go into that every 2 weeks. I don't miss it...kind of forget about it to be honest. Before I know it there is a lit saves up for trips.
