1 Year to SAVE!!!

My sister just printed out my TRU awards from Christmas shopping so once I use them to buy my nephew's bday gift I will reimburse myself that money too. I thought this would be a pretty weak week but it is looking up :goodvibes

And today is my "one year from when we leave for wdw" day :banana::banana:

(it is also my 33 years since birth day, but that is nowhere near as interesting or exciting :rotfl: )

Fort Wilderness Campsite 10 nights - $635
Need new trailer tires before this trip - $200
SeaWorld/Aquatica $500
2 Nights in Hotel on drive down/back home plus meals $300

1 CS Meal Per day x 4 adults = $360 (some meals shared)
1 meal at Rainforest
1 meal at TRex
1 Trails End fried chicken takeout meal $25
1 Trails End breakfast buffet $65
1 Trip to grocery store for breakfast/lunch supplies to make at our campsite- $140
Laundry: ?

Gas on the trip down/back -? maybe $500
Gas to drive to SeaWorld/Aquatica and outlets - ?

Possible golf cart rental from Kenny - ? doubtful we will have the money for this

Total: around $2700
Have: $1200
Need: $1500

I didn't add in spending money because the kids have their own cash - DH and I wouldn't buy anything unless we had the extra cash on hand.

We aren't doing any disney parks because the kids have requested to do something different - hence SeaWorld and Aquatica tickets.

Glad I finally put this on paper because I thought I was doing way better than what I am, so it's really time to tighten the bootstraps up for the next 7 months.:wizard:

Had a good week :) Got another check from Toluna for $20, got $15 from Once Upon A Child and $15 from Plato's Closet plus I've started putting $10 every Monday. So..... (drumroll.......)

Need $1550
Have $630 in the Super Secret Stash
Have $100 in the change jar (woohoo going to cash it in this week)
Need $820!!!!!

We're cleaning out my Grandma's estate and I've been finding ridiculous amounts of change, that's how my change total got so high so fast. I just love having a change jar that's so filled but it's getting to heavy to deal with!

Also, I took a bunch of stuff to the consignment store, they took 22 of my items, I will get a check March 4th so I hope I can hit $100 from that, plus then I will will have more spring items to bring in.

Planning a couple mega-garage sales this spring and summer too!

:yay: So excited!!!

$5868 needed for room, tips, spending money
-$50 from payday today!!!
=$3604 left to pay ($2000 of it spending money)

59.00 - cash
69.86 - change
35.10 - Opinion Outpost
30.13 - Viewpoint forum

total = 194.09

I found $14 stuck back in my wallet that I didnt even know I had so I added it to the savings envelope. Also stuck in some more change.

AND yesterday I got a job! It is likely to be only thru May but I had been a teacher for a long time and was now subbing for the past year or so. I was offered a part time job tutoring at the school where my DD goes - 20 hours a week, $25 an hour! I only get paid once a month but I am going to take abour $400 every month and put towards the trip.

Added 21.15 today

15 from ToysRUs Coupon
5 from coupons at the grocery store
1.15 in change

So total from two weeks 38.20 Not a lot, but it is something :)

We just got back and I'm planning my next trip! Maybe for October and the Food & Wine Festival?!!!

I still have just under $400 in Disney GCs and $40 on a Merchandise GC after all of our spending. And we spent freely on this trip! Lots of souvenirs, ride photos and cocktails with dinner.

I had a nice surprise at Yak & Yeti. I had checked my Landry's Select card before departing for Disney and it only had the original $25 sign up bonus on it. No worries, since I also had $65 in Landry's GCs. Well, when the waitress ran the card, it not only had the original $25, it also had 2 $25 birthday bonuses!!!! I'm not sure how that happened or where it came from but she said not to worry about it. The problem was corporate's problem and not mine! So even after a very generous tip, I walked out of the restaurant with $40 in Landry's GCs still in my pocket for next time!

I used 5 days off of a 10-day hopper that doesn't expire. Just enough for a 4-night trip! My niece also repaid me for her ticket upgrade ($243), so that's more cash for my next trip!

I'm estimating that 4 nights at the Boardwalk (water view) will run about $1700 if I can snag a good discount. Add another $600 for food for 2 adults and $50 for airfare fees (using Southwest RR points) and the trip should come in around $2500 or less.

Have: $388 in Disney GC, $38.17 on a Merchandise GC and $40 in Landry's GCs, $243 cash
Estimated Cost: ~$2500
Need to Save: $1869

Let the saving resume!

We booked a trip for Spring Break so now I have to save up $3,262.89 by April 6th. I have a change jar going (not sure amount saved), I have a $3 survey check coming this week, I have $2 rebate check for buying something from Crayola over the holidays coming, and I have earned $16 on Sunshine rewards. I hope to earn enough for at least a $25 Disney Gift Card.

I also have a bounus from work coming in March, and I usually have about an extra $1000 each month after I pay all the bills. This should be douable but I need to keep myself on track. I am going to be buying gift cards as I have money left over from each of my paychecks so I don't spend it on other things. Now I just hope nothing horrific happens and throws me off track.

Great way to start!!

And what an awesome surprise at Y&Y!

I am saving for our trip in 2013! Thinking of opening a disney account at the bank to save it and make it so I cannot withdraw from it. Dh said no bc then i pay bank fees.
where do u guys put all your savings??

I'm not getting much of anywhere with the savings but just checking in to help stay motivated. I knew I wasn't really going to start seeing the $$ come until after our trip this month because until then the quarters & pennies from the change jar are going into the pressed penny stash and I'm spending on little things that we need for the trip so I'm not keeping as tight a rein on the budget.

I did discover that there's a very active swap/sell Facebook group for my area so rather than waiting for spring and a garage sale I'm washing and photographing some winter coats and baby items to list now. Hopefully that will bring in a few dollars and help clear out the clutter too.

I also had a conversation with DH that shaved a few dollars off my savings total, because we were talking about our "someday" adult Disney trip and he said the Keys to the Kingdom tour sounded more interesting than Backstage Magic. That's $156 for the two of us instead of $488, a savings of $332. So the new totals are:

$1650 new goal
- $81.75 from rewards programs and assorted coupon savings
$1568.25 left to save

I use a Huntington checking acct. There are no fees and you don't have to use the bank card or have DD either. There is no interest on the money but not having to worry about fees is worth it.

I have an ING savings account. No minimum balance or other fees. Plus having the money in an online account makes it harder to spend the money.

We use a credit union. I don't think we pay any fees, if we do they are very minimal.

I have a very low-tech, mini Mickey and Gang lunchbox I bought at the dollar store years ago to keep my trip cash.:thumbsup2

When I need to pay the bills I put it in the checking account.

I bet there's tons of places like credit unions and online banks that you can use without fees. Check with your regular bank about a vacation account too.

I cashed in my change jar because it was getting too heavy and I got sick of counting it LOL. I had almost $105! I'm also putting $10 in my Mickey Money every money, and I'm already two weeks ahead.

Need $1550
Have $755 in the super secret stash
Need $795 more to save!!! I'm under $800 and SO EXCITED!!! I might be able to pull this off by Labor Day:woohoo:

This is what we do. We have it to set on auto withdraw on our paydays. This way, we barely see it coming out, and if something big comes, like hubby gets a bonus, he can manually transfer it over in addition to the little amounts from every paycheck.

The good part is that the money is not easily accessible. You will need to transfer it back to your home checking account and that could take 2-3 days. Its great for saving. The bad part, if you see a really great deal, you can't access your money for 2-3 days.

Each paycheck I try to automatically take out $25 and purchase a disney gift card - you can order online with free shipping or purchase at grocery stores, etc.... - I'm going to use those to pay my reservation and for food.

thanks for the replies. We live in Canada and unfortunately dont have access to disney gift cards :(
You are trusting leaving it in a lunchbox! too tempting for me. Am going to check into a bank account with no fees.
