On our next trip we are going to be visiting Sea World for a couple of days and have pool days. DH is not a big disney person so it'll be DD and I going to the park. We want to go to MK but man is it expensive to purchase just a one day ticket! Are there ever any discounts on 1 or 2 day tickets? Thanks!

Not if you are just buying them, outright.

There are sometimes contests and the like when the tickets are given as prizes.

Some of the "timeshare" sales pitches include tickets if you endure their multi-hour high-pressure sessions.

Not any I know of. The tickets are all front loaded in terms of cost so a 1 day tix never is cost effective unfortunately. There are reputable third party ticket resellers like undercover tourist and tickets at work (website that your company has to be part of to get access) but the discounts on tickets are typically for multi day tickets not on a one day. We've done one day tix in the past but we try to avoid that due to cost and sadness after only one day in the parks.

The only way our family has seen the benefit of the cost of a one day ticket is for after hours events like Villains or AK after hours. You normally get in two to three hours before the parks officially close and then you have about three hours of light crowds. We can usually do most everything we like inside the parks (rides, no character greets) during that time due to the crowd level.

We did a 2 day ticket and it was expensive. We just bit the bullet and paid since we had no other choices that we found. W were doing a combo Disney+cruise this trip.

So maybe I should wait to purchase once I know when EMH are. Or do I run the risk of.missing FP bookings if I wait for the calendar?

You'll know EMH dates well in advance of the earliest time you can book FPs.

I agree this is the best way to do a 1 day visit. Cost is close to the same and you get the benefit of the super low crowds and included snacks doing it as a DAH event.
