We start our vacation at DW on the 17th of September, but I want to fly in on the 16th as not to waist a whole disney day in travel. I plan to get a hotel near the airport for that night. Are there any shuttles that go from the airport to a hotel? If so do I need to bring car seats? I know dumb queston! :) Also to get from the airport to DW our cab far will be close to $50. I know you cant ride magical express unless you get on stright off your flight. So I was wondering is getting a cab the only way to do it...and then what about carseats again and there are 7 of us total.
Thanks

Most all hotels near the airport have free shuttle service back and forth from the airport. There is the Courtyard, Amerisuites, Hamption, Holiday, Fairfield, Sleep and Embassy to name a few. Yes, the fare to Disney runs about $50.00 from those hotels. If your children are 4 or older child seats are not required in Florida.

I don't know what hotel you are staying at in Disney, but the airport hotels run around $60.00 a nite. A cab fare to Disney runs $50.00 which totals $110.00. The stress factor, carrying your luggage back and forth, getting to Disney and checked in that morning should weigh in for about $50.00. The DME delivers your luggage to your room. The way I look at it why not just go straight to Disney, wake up fresh and head out to the parks early that morning. Just pay for that extra night at Disney, it is probably worth it.

I agree with Edd.

But if you insist on staying off-site the first night, you still can take DME to your resort. Just get back to the airport, and then take DME. Totaly allowed. You're entitled to that ride (from MCO to your resort) on your day of check-in regardless of when you fly in, or even if you didn't fly in at all.

I just book our trip last week for Sept 2 - 7....origianly we were going down on Monday Sept 3...but decided to go Sunday afternoon to do just what you talked about...avoid the strees of traveling on your real 1st day....I looked at off site hotels also...but I have 2 suggestions...depending on where you are staying...if it is a moderate or a value resort just stay there...you are not saving staying off property...if you are staying at a deluxe resort and don't want to pay for the extra day...stay at a value resort for your first night...disney will trasfer your luggage the next day free....and you can use their transportation to get there....if you do stay off site the first night make it a hotel closer to disney not the airport, the hotel should have free shuttle service and then the next day your cab won't cost as much to get to the World....

Can anyone verrify that kids 4 and up don't need car seats in a cab/town car in florida?

Enjoy the magic....1 month left!!!!

I can verify you don't need a babyseat or booster for kids 4 and up. I have the information handy if you want the regulation.

I'll chime in here and agree with the others. We own DVC and don't like to use points if we are flying in on a Friday or a Sat, and don't like to pay a ton of money if we are getting in anytime after 4:00, so I get a room at one of the values to start the trip. We love POP, so that's my first choice. Then, the next morning, we have our luggage taken away and moved to the main resort, and we head off to the parks to do our thing, returning later to the new resort to checkin. The only issue is that you won't have your luggage until late afternoon/early evening. If this is going to be an issue, just take a cab to the new resort, with your luggage. Then you can checkin early and be done with it early in the day. And your luggage will be there when you return later in the day.
