I'm taking a friend to DL for his first time in October on a Tuesday. We would be arriving when the park has already been opened for an hour for Magic Morning. I'm very uncertain on how to go about a touring plan. Should we go about getting a SM fastpass first because it will be popular for Ghost Galaxy? Or should we head to Jungle Cruise/Indiana Jones first because those attractions aren't open during MM? Or maybe Haunted Mansion?
I've been to DL at least once or twice a year but usually for about 3 days so never felt rushed. Just not sure what to do for a 1 day. I know we will skip Fantasyland and probably some of the shows like Magical Map (if that is something they still do). He's not too familiar with a lot of Disney movies. The only parade we'd want to see is Paint the Night and the fireworks.
Any suggestions would be a tremendous help! Thank you!

fastpass open when the general public has access, so it is a fresh start for all....folks on the MM will have had their share of riding SM, so less inclined to gather fastpass. Secure the SM fastpass and head over to the Indy area and ride NBC first then window should open for next fastpass for indy, head back to Fastpass for SM, then back to pirates, secure the third fastpass for BTMRR, ride indy, JC and by noon you will have used all fastpass except for splash, and that is all about the wet. The ROA should be empty as it is a large area and folks are not bunched up in that area after MM. It is the bunching that cause problems. So folks, like yourself, with SM fastpass tend to stay in tomorrowland rather then long stretch of ROA. My self a tuesday MM, I find that the ROA is empty till 11:00, by then you will have completed all FP once, noonish!!!

trickle in at 9:00, SM fastpass grabbed at 9:20 for a 10:00 -11:00 window

rush to NBC, ride and draw indy fP(11:30-12;30) at 10:00, head over to SM
rush to pirates to load at 10:50, 11:15 discharge, bathroom break over at JC or you might have BTMRR window for fp, load onto JC at 11:55, over to Indy at 12:25.

four E attractions, three hours, that is average for your week.

Whatever you do, get a fast pass for some big E ticket ride first thing. Then wait in line stand by lines to ride as many rides as you can. Then when your fast pass time has come, go get another fast pass and then ride the ride you have for the first fast pass. Keep repeating this until the wait times for the fast passes gets too long.

I did this same 1 day visit in June, solo. (it was lovely!). I too arrived after opening and spent all day there. I decided not to go all crazy and rush anywhere. I too skipped Fantasyland, except for small world and just cruised around at a slow speed. I still got on everything I wanted to! Have fun!

I am going to assume that the park will open at 9am.

Try to be at the entrance 15 minutes before it opens to the public.

I wouldn't get the Fastpass for Space Mountain first.
9am-1130am: Get a FP for Indiana Jones, then ride Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, now get FP for Space Mountain before you use FP for Indy. Then use FP for Indiana Jones.
Save Pirates, the Jungle Cruise and Tiki Room for later .
Have Lunch
1230pm-4pm: Grab a FP for Star Tours before you use FP for Space Mountain. Then hang around Tomorrowland by doing Buzz Lightyear, Autopia, Matterhorn (use Single Rider), and the Disneyland Train.
Save Nemo for later.
Before you use that FP for Star Tours, you can grab another FP.
Keep in mind that the FP for Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion will sell out first, then Indiana Jones, with Splash, Thunder and Roger Rabbit lasting until much later in the day.
After Tomorrowland you can really take your time exploring and doing the attractions you missed earlier mixed with the FP that you have.

For Paint the Night and the fireworks I would just make it easier on yourself and get a spot near It's a Small World 30 minutes before the parade starts.

Oh...i forgot I was on this site, on the other site it is sacrilege to say "Haunted Mansion Overly". it is either the nightmare of Nightmare Before Christmas or Haunted Mansion- The two shall never meet.
