Greetings Earthlings!

As my not-so-subtle title suggests it's a matter of a mere 38 days until myself, my DH and my DD return to the World - woo hoo!

Two years ago we spent three weeks in WDW and I made meticulous trip notes and on return commenced writing a trip report....yup....it failed...I started well and then...life got in the way...how rude...I know! :confused3

I did really enjoy writing when I got round to it and would like to have another crack at it. I've done a fair bit of reflecting on why I didn't get the last one completed and reckon I can improve this time...

I hope there are a few folks out there who can tolerate my drivel and tangents....that would be a great name for a band....now welcoming on to the stage....'Drivel aaaaaand Tangents!' I can see it now! Anyway...I also like elipsises/elipses....sets of three dots plural.

So, who are we?
We are three. Here we are in the nattily titled photo 'Dangling with free pretzel'

I won't insult your intelligence and explain which of us is which....I think it's fairly clear...I thinks it's also fairly clear as to why it is so titled - small child hanging between us clutching pretzel that was given requiring no monetary exchange....:thumbsup2

So, there's me; 37 years old - I know it's hard to believe :lmao:
DH - 31 years old - yes I'm a cradle snatcher - life's hard...
DD - 6 years old - hilarious and into everything. Totally adores anything related to princesses or fairy. Generally spends a lot of her time living in the land of pink and fluffy - it's a great place or so it would appear....
This is our third trip to WDW - it has indeed become an addiction. The first trip in 2009 was under less pleasant circumstances as I was recovering from cancer and the subsequent treatments so we decided that we'd go to WDW just in case I wasn't going to be able to go later in life. Well, 4 years down the line (thank goodness :cloud9:) cancer has a lot to answer to!!!; one addiction, way too much money spent and a DVC contract! :rotfl2:

We also decided that the first trip was nowhere near long enough so in 2011 we returned for an epic 3 week trip that was just amazing! We were braver - in terms of visiting more resorts, eating in a wider range of restaurants etc. So we're hoping that this year will be just as good if not better! Bring it on!
The plans!
So, in 38 days... just incase I hadn't mentioned that...we're off again and WE CAN'T WAIT!!! We have been planning like mad and made our ADRs at the 180 day window with only a few minor changes more recently.
I'll probably share the plans over a few days because there're so many! The basics though:
WHEN:
August 5th (at a Travelodge but the holiday officially starts at that point) until August 28th (that's the landing day) Oh yes! Three weeks again...:yay:
WHERE:
Now I feel a little antsy writing this, but for the first time, we will not be staying at Wilderness Lodge...I repeat, we will not be staying at Wilderness Lodge...MAYDAY MAYDAY  Ok, it's not really that severe, we decided that despite the love of the Lodge, we'd try somewhere different for this trip - and I'm amazed that we've stuck with it! So where?
Aug 6th - 13th: Bay Lake Tower (lake view)
Aug 13th - 27th: Boardwalk Villas (garden/pool view) Secretly I'm hoping for garden view because clowns freak me out. Why on earth are you staying at a resort with an enormous clown pool then I hear you shout...well, blame DD... it's all down to her. She better make the most of that pool is all that I can say!!
Crikey branching out or what?! We're very excited especially about the proximity to MK at BLT and to Epcot at BV. So, although I'm sure we're going to miss WL the other resorts will make up for it....(apart from the clown)
More detail?
Oh, if you insist....
Week 1
August 5th: Leave in pm once DH has returned from work. Head to Heathrow and eat at Carluccio's in Terminal 5, return to Travelodge and drink beer (not DD - that would be wholly illegal)
August 6th: Fly to Miami on American Airlines then from there to Orlando - layover of a couple of hours, then it's our first experience of DME - we've had a car on previous trips but are trying it without this time - could be a nightmare, could be ok... Straight to BLT :goodvibes, snack of some sort then sleep! May go and pick up tickets and TIW card but will play that by ear. Clearly this will be before the 'sleep' portion of the day...just so you're sure...
August 7th: ADR at Chef Mickey's for brekkie - yay! Day (or at least some of it) at MK. It's worth pointing out that throughout the 3 week stay we'll be having some serious pool time - DD is a total and utter water baby and has gained masses of confidence recently so looking forward to lots of swimming! In the evening we have ADRs at Artist Point - you see you can take the family out of the Lodge but you can't take the Lodge out of the family...Artist Point is a bit of a special one for us and is the one ADR that was a given before we even began the planning stages. It's our 7th wedding anniversary on the 4th August and rather than buy presents etc we treat ourselves to a meal at Artist Point. :lovestruc And DD looooooves the Mickey Puzzle pudding!
August 8th: We learned fairly quickly on our first trip that days off or resort days are essential so this is one of those - it may be a couple of hours at Typhoon Lagoon or a bit of shopping at DTD :rolleyes1 we'll see when the day comes (which is in 40 days...just saying) Whatever it is, we've got a reservation at Turf Club in the evening. This is one we've never been to but it gives us an opportunity to look round Saratoga Springs for a while.
August 9th: Another day off and we've pencilled in to go over to Fort Wilderness to pony trek and ride the Surrey Bikes - we did this last time and loved it so really want to repeat it. Before that though we've got an ADR at Crystal Palace for breakfast - we really enjoy CP. Last time we were there the characters came round and Eeyore spent lots of time with DD which she loved. When the parade started and each of the characters picked a child to walk round with, Eeyore was right over the other side of the restaurant but he totally legged it over to DD so that she could partner him for the parade! It was very cute and I've never seen that donkey move so fast ever! At 4pm we're experiencing Hoop dee Doo for the first time - I can't wait! This was a must for me this time - reckon we'll all really enjoy it!
Another little point worth mentioning but we're not on the dining plan this time. We're going to buy Tables in Wonderland and flash our DVC card at every unsuspecting Cast Member and see how it goes! Aiming to share lots of meals - DD is an adventurous eater and DH has lost 3 stone in weight over the last year so doesn't eat nearly as much as he used to so we think we might be able to save some money that way (we'll see :rolleyes1)
August 10th: Back to MK - making the most of being so close (...that's our excuse and we're sticking to it...) In the evening we have an ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe - yeah so it's Wilderness Lodge again....and your point is....??!!! :confused3
August 11th: Animal Kingdom day with a dinner ADR at Sanaa. Really looking forward to this - yay!
August 12th: This is a resort day so probably some swimmage and drinkage - not necessarily at the same time but the idea has not been ruled out... We have a breakfast ADR at 1900 Park Fare - new one for us. In the evening we also have an ADR for Grand Floridian Cafe - see it's not all Wilderness Lodge...we have Grand Floridian overload too :rotfl2:
We're also hoping to head up to the Top of the World Lounge to watch Wishes in the evening too...Oh gosh getting way too excited typing this now....:woohoo:
That's pretty much the first week so I'll leave you now with the promise of updating with week 2 as soon as I can. With my last trip report I think I tried to update way too regularly and then couldn't maintain the pace. With this one, I'll update as and when. Hope 'Drivel and Tangents' hasn't been too disconcerting.

Good itinery so far. :thumbsup2
Don't feel too bad about the last trippie. It is a lot of time and effort and things do get in the way.
I spread mine out over a year......and race the last few days in before we depart for our next visit. (I still have 5 days to post in the next 4 weeks! :rotfl2:)
You will love Hoop, we have done it 6 times now, but are giving it a rest for our next visit.
It is nice to watch Wishes from the balcony around the edge of Narcoossee's at Grand Floridian.
We are travelling similar dates (03-29 Aug LHR-MIA-LHR) so we may bump into each other around the parks :goodvibes
Looking forward to your updates.

Thanks for commenting and welcome :cheer2:

I like the idea of knowing that you're going to spend the year writing the report - I reckon I tried to do it all a little speedily last time - I must pace myself...:)
Hoop is one of our ADRs that I am most excited about - it was a must do this year - hoping that DD will enjoy it.
It's strange that you mention watching Wishes from another area as this is another thing on the wish list this year - I've just finished reading your update about Ohanas and watching from the Poly beach - you've kinda sold that one to me :woohoo:
I have read all of your reports in the past as a lurker :goodvibes and have enjoyed them thoroughly - hope I can repay the favour :thumbsup2

Will keep my eyes peeled for you all when we're there - that would be awesome - a first DIS meet :cool1:

Wow - how time flies. It's taken me a whole 7 days to realise that putting a countdown in a pretrip title is a little bit on the silly side as the next time you post, that number has changed. You're then stuck with the dilemma...change the title or look stupid....I'm going for the latter...at least then you won't be deluded.

So, the itinerary continues. We stopped I think in the TOTWL watching Wishes - how do you follow that?....well, let me tell you....

August 13th: MOVING DAY! Getting nervous just thinking about it (Wilderness Lodge withdrawal symptoms ) This is the day when we pack our bags and transfer from BLT over to the Boardwalk Villas for the final two weeks. We are seriously excited to be staying at an Epcot resort (apart from the clown pool of course :scared1:) The Boardwalk was an area that we only discovered for the first time in 2011 and we loved it. Managed to spend a very happy couple of hours at Big River Bar and Grille enjoying a beer flight whilst DD slept in the buggy (that's what we call a result :upsidedow)
In my previous TR I haven't got to the part where we bought into DVC...hey guess what????!!! We bought into DVC!!!!:dance3: Very exciting and part of the reason we're able to move around a bit!
In amongst moving, we're heading for our first trip to DHS - bring on Toy Story Mania woo hoo - and in the evening we have an ADR for 50s Prime Time. We've not eaten here but I've read so many positive reviews that it was a no brainer for this trip. The only thing we're wondering is whether the servers will be as interactive with DD being 6. Anyone have any experience of this? Would appreciate info if anyone can share :goodvibes

August 14th: :scared1::scared1::scared1:Only our first Epcot day. I get jitters just contemplating a week in the World without Epcot - we may have to have a mini Epcot fix in the first week...we'll see how it goes. Epcot junkies...us??? :lmao:
Lunch ADR is yet another new restaurant - San Angel Inn in Mexico. No particular plans for the evening...playing it by ear, rolling with the punches, going with the flow...possibly even drowning in cliches.....

August 15th: Ooooh! Excited....who am I kidding? I'm excited by the lot! Today is pencilled in as a day off but with the intention of heading over to AK to do Wilderness Explorers. DD is very excited about this and who are we to deprive her...???? What do you mean we want to do it as much as her??? ;) So really not sure what to expect apart from......Squirrel!
ADR in the evening is Teppan Edo - bring on the onion volcanoes :woohoo: shame they don't do an onion volcano smilie - that would be amazing!

August 16th: This is due to be our first foray to Blizzard Beach as a family. I have been once before (in 1998) with a friend....DH has just kindly given me his input by saying that he was 16 then...yes, thanks love... The only things I really remember about that trip to BB was that as Disney newbies we burnt our feet because the ground was sooooo hot and we hadn't taken swim shoes :sad2: and that we braved Summit Plummit whilst retaining our modesty (more than can be said for some ladies - the moral being 'don't do Summit Plummit in a bikini') So BB is pretty much new really - previously only done TL which we love. Any suggestions as to must dos? Following that we're off to Ohana's - another first and need i say that we're excited about this one! I saw a picture on a TR recently in which a server was posing with a skewer of meat at Ohana - there was very little difference in size between the server and the food he was proffering - THAT HAS GOT TO BE A GOOD THING!!! :rotfl2:

August 17th: So, if we have actually survived and not died through over eating at Ohana's we'll be off to MK for the day. Again we have a special lunch as it's our first time eating in the castle :cheer2: DD doesn't know - it's a complete surprise and we've got a Cinderella dress that we're going to surprise her with in the morning - yay! Again no plans in the evening so possibility of more cliche-related accidents...

August 18th: Pencilled in for Crazy Golf/Resort day. I say now: DD is absolutely rubbish at Crazy Golf, as am I (could this be the proof that scientists have been looking for for years - the 'Crazy Golf gene' does in fact exist???) so this may be quite a long-winded experience. I fear that DH will break first... No ADRs today :scared1: but thinking about a possible trip to Beaches and Cream to eat impossibly large sundaes

August 19th: EAT AND DRINK ROUND THE WORLD...need I say more???:banana:

That's week 2 done and dusted...It feels wrong to have a photo-free installment so here's a favourite from 2011 - DD the spider...

Glad to see you're writing another trip report - I loved your previous (albeit unfinished) one. :goodvibes

We are going to be there at the same time as you too but ARE staying in the WL - we haven't stayed there since 2001 and are looking forward to returning. Might see you in CP on the 9th as we also have a breakfast ADR there for our first morning :cool1:

DISWolves - looks like we'll be stalking you on the Dream :wave2: I too have enjoyed your trip reports in lurkville :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness....it's tomorrow! Whoop whoop whoop ::yes::

So, the end of term at school was MANIC! It never ceases to amaze me how much is packed into a few weeks. Had to say goodbye to possibly my loveliest class ever (such gems) which was sad....however...it means that WDW was closer.

Now it's soooooo close that I can smell it...:thumbsup2

Tomorrow we're off to the airport for an overnight at the Travelodge (how ever will Bay Lake Tower live up to the Travelodge??? ;)) before flying on Tuesday. DD is extremely excited and spent the vast majority of today giving us a rather surreal running commentary (or as I said earlier 'cunning rommentary'...no, I'm not sure either...) of everything going on but using the medium of song - quite an odd experience....cute...but odd :rotfl2:

So, in addition to strange spoonerisms, I realised today that I had only posted the first 2 weeks' itinerary and that it would be rather remiss of me to leave the 3rd week unknown, so allow me to rectify matters.

Our final week begins on 20th August - we'll still be at the Boardwalk (what a shame :rolleyes2)

August 20th: This is a 'day off' but we're intending on getting out and about to different resorts. We're hoping to get out to the Art of Animation and pootle around perhaps eating at Landscapes of Flavour - really looking forward to seeing this. Another first in the evening as we've booked an ADR at Bluezoo at the Swalphin - again rather excited - loooove seafood and loooove WDW so this is a win win surely!!

August 21st: A big Animal Kingdom day with breakfast at Boma and dinner at Jiko and some general interim snackage :thumbsup2 Particulary looking forward to Jiko following our experience in 2011. Having not got round to completing my last report I never told the story...so I will relay it now - you lucky people!
Basically we'd made it to Jiko, our drinks had arrived, we'd made headway into the bread and tandoori butter, we'd ordered our starters and mains when DD suddenly needed the bathroom. DH took her in and then when they returned DD was looking rather pale and had been a little sick - her tummy was sore (understandably) and she just looked rather under the weather :( DD is not a whinger and she is rarely ill so DH and I knew that whatever was wrong was genuine and that making her stay in the restaurant would be hugely unfair and not enjoyable for anyone. So, DH started gathering our stuff together while I went over to our lovely server to explain our situation, apologise for having to leave and to pay for the drinks (including a very large glass of wine). Well she pootled off to deal with things and the next thing we knew she had swooped back to the table, made a huge, lovely fuss over poorly DD, poured my wine into a 'to go' cup, told us not to worry about paying for anything, put our 6 dining credits back onto our KTTW cards and told us that she'd spoken to the manager who had basically said that if we wanted a reservation before our holiday was finished then we were to ring and they'd make space.....whoooooahhhhh!!!! AMAZING!!! We couldn't believe it - such kindness just at the right moment.
As I've typed that, it shows what an impact that had on us as despite it being 2 years ago, it is so clear in my memory (unlike a great deal of other things...believe me!!!) - no trip notes needed! We were so grateful and were able to care for DD (who was fine after a good night's sleep and a quiet day following) whilst having a little glow of pixie dust making it all a little easier pixiedust: A horrible moment made just that but easier - truly wonderful :goodvibes
So fully intending on enjoying that evening :)

August 22nd: A day at MK with an ADR in the evening at Biergarten - oh yes! Sausage, sauerkraut, men with large horns and litres of beer - sigh :lmao:

August 23rd: Day off but an ADR in the evening in Garden Grill. We're also hoping that we'll get to go on the Behind the Seeds tour so that we can fully appreciate Garden Grill afterwards - that's the theory anyway!

August 24th: DHS day - oh yes, Toy Story Mania here we come! Well, that and many other things I'm sure! We have an ADR in the evening for Cape May Cafe. I've heard lots of good things so excited....again!!

August 25th: Ooooh! Day off with the intention of spending time in DTD and heading to Splitzville - DD bowling could be hilarious! Then an ADR at Flying Fish in the evening - can't wait! Three words:
POTATO. WRAPPED. SNAPPER.

August 26th: Epcot day - including an ADR at Tokyo Dining - this was one of my favourites last time - Bento boxes are fab! Also aiming to have a turkey leg - not at Tokyo Dining I hasten to add!

August 27th: It feels very odd to be typing about our last day in WDW the day before we leave for the holiday. This weirdness is being emphasised dramatically because DH is currently watching an episode of Family Guy in which everything is happening in reverse. I'm very confused and think my head might explode.... Anyway, last day = sad.
Hollywood and Vine breakfast - large, yellow stuffed bear, enormous pirate, Spanish speaking handy man, a.n.other. This isn't helping my head...

So, that's it. A few hours and we'll be off. Thanks for reading my drivel so far! Hope to see you when we get back, although if you'll forgive me I'm not going to think about it too much now ;)

:goodvibes
