While looking for something else, an AKV 1 Bedroom Concierge, Jambo House availability for the night of Aug 8th is showing up on the regular WDW website i.e., CRO inventory.

This strikes me as just WRONG! :furious:

Why is one of 'our' precious AKV DVC club level rooms available for non-DVC members to book on a cash basis?

Am I over-reacting?!? :(

I don't know if you're over-reacting, but there is probably a piece of the picture that you're not aware of.

It gets much more complicated than this, but in your specific example, any unused DVC points inventory becomes available to CRO 60 days out.

It is also available for points ressies, but it's first-come, first served - whoever calls first (cash or DVC owner) gets the ressie. DVC owners had nine months to reserve that inventory. Also, any revenue from such a rental would be "breakage revenue," and most of it would go to the AKV condo association where it offsets our dues.

You'll also find other inventory available MORE than 60 days out. That inventory is either from the small percentage that DVC retains, or it's from DVC owners exchanging out of DVC for non-DVC options like cruises, II exchanges, etc. Nothing is being taken away from DVC owners -- we've chosen to use those points for other things.

I understand what you are saying, but it doesn't mean I like it! ;)

With so many on waitlists and DVCers clamoring for the club level rooms, it just seems a shame that one should go empty!!! :(

Friday Aug 8th 1-bedroom club level villa for one night is still available on the general WDW reservations site as of this morning. Somebody grab it! Quick!! ::yes::

Who the heck wants to book 1 night??? You get in there at 4, and have to leave the next morning. No thanks! Let some sucker pay the cash rate for it.

But you would have access to the Club Lounge from the morning of check-in day until midnight of check-out day! If you are staying on at AKV/AKL in another room after (as we are) this would maximize your Club Lounge usage.

The Wanyama Safari takes place on Fridays so if someone wanted to take that sunset safari, they could do it that night without committing points to additional nights at club level.

So maybe it's not as black and white as you see it. ;)

Hmmm... I guess I'm not a sucker because we're not paying cash but I am using points for a one night stay in a studio at AKV concierge before we head to Portofino Bay Resort at Universal for the rest of the week. LOL! It is probably the only time we will get to try it so we are looking forward to it.

Not all the concierge rooms belong to DVC. Some still belong to the Lodge.

Are you absolutely positive that AKL doesn't have 1 bedroom suites that are considered concierge?

As Jim pointed out, if it is DVC and it was sent to CRO/WDWTC under the "breakage clause", it's still available to DVC members who want to book it on points.

If it is DVC, I also wonder if it is really available. Sometimes inventory shows up online that "isn't really there" when you actually go to book it. At least it used to be that way. I have not booked for cash online or otherwise for quite some time.

I don't want it, been there, done that, 1BR is too big for me and way too expensive.

It was definitely listed for Animal Kingdom Villas and not Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The club level suites are listed under the Lodge not the Villas, so it can't be that.

AFAIK, all of the Villa concierge rooms belong to DVC. Can anyone confirm? :confused3

DW and I did the Wanyama Safari on a Monday.

Yes, I should have worded that to say that Friday is one of the days the Wanyama takes place. I believe it is on M-W-F-Sat. We are booked on a Saturday.

Sorry for the confusion! :)
