Thrilled watching the "how many posters" thread - it's up to 1218 as of now! If my math is right - that's 1.5% of the 80,000 families DVC claims! I wonder how many others are watching and reading, but just haven't joined DIS..... wonder how high it will go!

That is a lot of people, though I think I'd offer two caveats.

1. There are over 150 posts from people who posted more than once. So you need to deduct them from the total.

2. I don't think the thread required one to be a member in order to post their user name. So not all of the 1,000+ user names are necessarily members.

Still....it is a bunch of people, isn't it? :)

How did you figure out which were dupes?

Granny has waaaay too much time on his hands, that's how! ;)

Another counting caveat - spouses posting separate and getting their membership counted twice. I believe the members that DVC quotes are "member families', so DW and I are really 1 "member" bu could post on here individually. I may be wrong however...

 Ok - so I was too lazy to do anything but look at the number of posts! Darn it! I really was curious to see the (somewhat) accurate % here.... oh well - there really is no scientific way of getting that - I'm sure it changes too rapidly!
it's still fun!

"To be exact" as Mr Spock would say.

Yeah, but Disney counts "Member Families" strangely as well.

Sometimes one family with two contracts is counted twice.

Sometimes one contract shared by two families is counted one.

Still, this is probably the biggest sub - community of DVC members out there.

Close enough for me. Interesting to think about.

crisi-

You're probably right! I'm sure there are more than 1.5% on here, taking into account lurkers and infrequent posters. This is a much more active DVC board than another board I'm on.

What in the World do the other 98.5% do without all of this daily knowledge about their membership!!:teeth:

I would say it's a daily "fix"!!! I can't belive how addicting this is!

Granted people sell due to things like death, divorce, and finances in general. But I'd also wager that many of those resale contracts are from those folks who bought DVC but never took the time to research/understand the system either before or after the sale! Unfortunately, their loss is sometimes our gain!

They probably waste a lot of points, letting them expire and such. Heh.

If every member had the knowledge of the people here.

1) The people who rent their unused points would probably have a hard time renting and price would bottom out. Imagine the amount of points available to rent if every unused point came up for rent.

2) now all points are being used by all contracts.
Have fun trying to get a room. 11 month window at home resort only.
Good luck anywhere else.

3) crowded all the time.

4) Why buy a contract now when you could rent points ridiculously cheap.

5) If points are flooding market and selling cheap just to get used or lose.
DVC = allstar resort, anyone out there renting cheap points for cheap stay at disney.

Worst case theory but very ugly.
