What is the ONE thing you would change about DVC, DVC rules?

I just did it on my phone.

Make sure your browser is set to display the "desktop site" instead of the mobile site. I hate mobile sites so I always have it turned on. I've never actually seen the mobile site I guess lol
Thanks. That works, but of course, now I have to deal with trying to view a web page that's not optimized for my phone. I'm just never satisfied. 😁

FYI When you log in and click on My DVC on the upper right, it takes you to your dashboard. So there is a link on the home page. You don't have to hover, wait and then go to My Dashboard. Just click on the My DVC link itself
Use this link that’s what I do. It takes you directly to your dashboard.

Even when HGVC was under the Hilton Hotel company umbrella - you could not pick your room at the time shares but you could at their hotels.

And even then it was a completely different subsidiary. It wasn't part of the hotel side other than in financial ownership.

No different than looking at Google and how some of their products don't talk at all to each other as they are very different parts of the larger company.

I wasn’t clear on my original comment, @ehh clarified it much better in post #23. I should have said separate inventory. At DLR, unless an accessible unit is specifically booked, there is no risk of an accessible unit being assigned.
Oh my, what happens when there are very few of a given category? For instance, BWV has only 7 GV. We were assigned the HA one in January even though we hadn’t booked it, but it was one of the 5 that are single story, which we needed due to having a 20 month old with us. Would we have been without a GV at DLR? Would that GV have stayed empty for that week, since no one booked it?

Just recently booked a temp room at BWV Accessible as the only 2br available then we found a room to extend our stay instead. There was no normal room available. It comes up on the BWV thread as well in the past about booking HA rooms if it's the only one left.

So not sure?

Short answer - yes and yes. At VDH, those 7 rooms are split into two separate booking categories. 6 GV, 1 HA GV. For instance, say the 6 regular rooms are booked, and the HC room is available - if you try to book a GV, the site will show that none are available. You can specifically look for the HC GV and it'll let you book that, but it won't show that room unless you specifically ask for it. Bottomline, at VDH you can't be assigned a HC room without knowing about it beforehand.

I guess it’s good that it leaves the HA rooms available for those who need them, unless someone who doesn’t need one books it intentionally because all the others are gone.

I disagree, walking is allowed with the current rules or at least there is no wording against walking.

As per the current rules we can book from our check in day and 7 nights. That effectively means that anyone checking in after my dates could see zero availability even before the 11 months window opens.
Walking is a consequence from the booking rule change. In the old days you could book 11 months from your CHECKOUT date instead of your CHECKIN date +7. Under the old rules you would make a reservation for the day you wanted to start your stay and then call MS every morning to add on to the reservation. I am on the west coast and I would get up early and call the moment they opened. Kind of reverse walking! Walking was really not needed. I really miss the old way.

the old way of booking your reservations, was before my time, but from what i've read it also had its pit falls.

If I wanted May 1st - May 5th 2026, I would had to wait until June 5th 2025 to book the reservation. If somebody wanted May 1st - May 4th, then they would be able to book June 4th and basically snatch the room before me. To ensure I got my booking I would need to do the reversed walk as you mentioned. With the old way of booking you would basically need to move your reservation daily to ensure you got your dates. Now you dont need that. I also think that back when you went by checkout day you had to call in to change your reservation and that caused a lot of call volume to MS.

Now we can do it online, but there is still a higher risk that you will get locked out from your dates by someone booking the day before you and by those doing the reverse walk.

I can't talk for everyone but I would rather risk being locked out and seeing it in well in advance than 1 day before. To mitigate that I would start doing the reverse walk, but there still wouldn't be any guarantees for my dates.
