We just got the announcement that, due to weather conditions, the pier at Grand Cayman is closed, so the Magic is on its way to Cozumel. Hubby and I were getting a little worried when we woke up this morning at 7 and land was nowhere in sight. I sure hope Nikki's Beach Rides doesn't charge a cancellation fee for something like this! The seas are very high and it's windy...hopefully the weather will be calmer in Cozumel (and hopefully we can keep up our Castaway Cay streak). A revised Navigator will be issued in an hour, so I'll be sure to post about the activities. This will be an excuse to book yet another Western cruise!

You were so looking forward to doing the horseback riding. Well I hope the rest of your trip goes without anymore interuptions. How is the weather other than the high seas?

Barb,

Thanks for the update. i wondered when I saw you logged on this morning why you weren't out getting ready to go ashore.

Sorry to hear about the cancellation. Guess you'll just have to book another Western cruise. How about coming on the 5/10 one with us? :)

Here's hoping for calmer seas, a great night & day in Cozumel and that your Castaway Cay streak stays in tact!

Yes it's just my luck as well!!! I'm on board and I got up especially early to see us come into Grand Cayman! but there we go. I don't mind where we go, I'm just having a great time.

I'm off to get my revised navigator now...

Barb,
We had reservations with Nikki on our Mystery Cruise - the Western Cruise on 9/28 that was diverted to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay (2x) due to Hurricane Lili.
Never had a problem with Nikki, she knew the situation as she probably knows yours.
I wouldn't worry about it at all and just enjoy the remainder of your time!

Ah, sorry to hear that 1/4 cruisers!

Hope you enjoy your added day at sea today! :)

Not the first time the Magic missed Grand Cayman, but the last time it happened, there was a tropical depression centered on the island. Maybe you'll get to dock early at Cozumel. (The partiers can get an early start at Carlos N' Charlie's.)

Hey guys......well Barb beat me to the cancelled GC docking....but, on the bright side we are headed to Cozumel and plan on hanging out in Carlos & Charlies all night!!! All the crew seems excited that they will be able to party tonight!!!

They came out with updated Navigators at 10:00 am and the guests were mobbing the poor CM handing them out. It was chaos!!!

Weather is still iffy and seas are rough....they said 20 ft over night though I did not feel it. They added some more activities during the day and a new movie time, but just like a normal day at sea. The CM told me this is only the second time they had to divert from CG.

Plan on having a great day!!!

MJ

Bummer about missing Grand Cayman, but some extra time in Cozumel can't be too bad!

Bummer about missing Grand Caymen, I know some people on the cruise.

Sorry about missing Grand Cayman. It never occurred to me that the tenders have trouble with the seas, too. I know we had to miss Castaway Cay because we couldn't dock due to rough seas.

Have a great night in Cozumel!

There are a bunch of DISers headed out on the 6/21 Western too! That would be a great one to rebook :p

Sorry you missed riding on Grand Caymen.:(

Hello again to all,
Right now, other than the rough seas, the weather is bright & sunny and the temp. is in the 70s. Hubby and I had breakfast and then took a nap, with the waves rocking us to sleep. The television says they are 8 to 13 feet, but they don't look that large from our verandah. I was just out there watching them, and when the whitecaps break a certain way, it causes a rainbow to appear over the wave. I don't think it would show up on a camera, but it's one of the most gorgeous things I've ever seen! We did lunch in Topsiders and are now heading off to the Rainforest. Thankfully, we already had spa appointments booked for today...I think the spa was mobbed this morning with people grabbing all the available times. There aren't a real lot of activities added, probably since this would have been a short port of call anyway. I'll post both navs. for comparison when we return. I feel like I'm in a rocking chair as I type this (well, a sideways one)...I always wondered if I would get seasick in rough seas, and now I have the answer: no! Hopefully everyone else is doing as well. We are already plotting another Western for either January or May of 2004...gotta make it to Cayman again.
Overall, even with the change of plans, it is an excellent cruise...only negative thing is that it's flying by too fast.

Sounds like you guys are having fun even with not going to GC. Hopefully the rest of your cruise won't be as "exciting"!

Hey there,
Glad to hear you're having a good time, despite the change in schedule. Really looking forward to getting the navigators etc when you get back, not that I want your time to go too fast. We'll be sailing on the 21/03 western, so we earger to find out all we can. We were on the eatern last February, which was our first 7 day. With three kids, I don't think we'd ever do a shorter cruise again. The 4 day was our first. But some day DW and I will be footloose and free to endulge ourselves with that treat from time to time.

One quick question, how much is the rainforset room when you get the weekly rate? That is one of our favorite places on the ship.

Can't wait!!

I hope you are enjoying your revised day. I'm so sorry you missed your horseback riding - it sounds like so much fun! But then again, the rainforest sounds good too. As does napping :)

We're on the April 24, 2004 Western. It's not May, but if you change your mind, maybe we'll see you there!

This is Barb...I keep trying to log out, but after three tries I guess I am forced to post under someone else's ID!! (Sorry, Target...it keeps saying "All cookies cleared," but it still comes up as you.)
But to answer the Rainforest question, it is $50 for the week, $30 for a three-day pass, or $15 per day. We did the weekly, and I'm especially glad we did now that we have a "surprise" sea day!
