1/28/2013 5 - Night Bahamian Cruise, Miami FL Who's going?

We just booked Mr Sanchos Beach Club all inclusive for Cozumel. I think they have a cooking class option too.

Less than 3 weeks to go!
Sounds fun! Guess you don't have to worry about the food re cooking class as through Disney?

It's only 1 1/2 weeks for me and the few of us doing b2b the week before. I cant wait to be in beautiful, warm Miami! Love that feeling of walking out of the airport into wonderful summer heat after just boarding in cold blustery winter weather! So excited too......just trying not to watch the news as there is a big flu issue happening right now.....so worried will get it and ruin trip!

My DW and I are staying concierge (it was a splurge for sentimental reasons – "our" suite became available. Long story...). As a result, we got some information from the shoreside concierge people that might be useful. Keep in mind that any of this can change at any time, but this should be a pretty good indication. :thumbsup2

Theme night schedule
Tuesday (Sea Day) Semi Formal
Thursday (Cozumel) Pirate Night
*All other nights cruise casual

No character breakfast - that's only for cruises of 7 days and up. :(

Movies that will be on board *Subject to change
Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides (3D)
Brave (2D and 3D)
Cars 2 (2D and 3D)
People Like Us
The Help
The Odd Life of Timothy Green
The Muppets
Frankenweenie
John Carter (2D and 3D)
Wreck-It-Ralph - PremEAR 11/2
Chimpanzee (DisneyNature)
Lincoln - PremEAR 11/16
The Avengers
Monsters, Inc. 3D - PremEAR 12/19

Hope this is useful. Does anyone have any questions about the cruise that I should ask the concierge folks?

We'll See You Real Soon! :hippie:

I just booked today!! I am so excited that I am bursting. So much to do. I cruised last year for the first time on the Disney Fantasy media cruise in March. My husband has never cruised and neither have my boys -- also the boys do not know yet. I want a great way to surprise them. I am pretty sure we are driving since I can not find any great deals on flights. We live in Michigan.

I have no clue how my boys will handle the ship as far as motion sickness so I am scared about that. I do not even know where to really start with packing and I don't think we want to do any excursions so what do you do when you get off at the ports.

Welcome! I'm happy to see more families joining us!! How old are your boys?

Our plan for Cozumel is to have a beach day, because we aren't doing Castaway Cay this time around and also because our DD is quite young (almost 2). We decided upon Mr Sanchos Beach Club all inclusive package, but they also have a pay as you go side. There are many other all inclusives with various packages (nachi cocum, playa uvas, and others) and also nice public 'pay as you go' type beaches such as Paradise Beach ($2 per chair + food/drink purchase). They are all a short taxi ride away from the port. Just an FYI, Playa Mia is the beach club contracted with DCL and other cruise lines, so they will be full of cruise ship passengers for sure.

In Grand Cayman, We purchased tickets to the Turtle Farm on our own. They are much cheaper (20% off if you buy them online) and their site says they will provide transportation. I've also read that the transportation may just be the same bus the DCL shore excursion people are using!

On the way back to the ship we will explore the port areas.

If you have any other questions, please ask! Chances are I or someone else on here have researched the same things. :)
We've been booked since last May, I've had a lot of time to look up EVERYTHING. :D

Hello Jan 28 cruisers

I am not on your cruise but we are taking the same cruise about a month later (March 11) and would REALLY appreciate if one of you would be willing to post the Navigator or email it to me. I am just interested in the page(s) that show the grid of activities. I am really curious to see what activities are being planned and when!

I look forward to hearing how you liked this cruise because I beleive you are the first to sail on this itinerary...

Happy sailing!

Just booked today! Seriously, 14" of snow in 24 hours on Friday was enough to get us looking for somewhere warm. This is our second Disney cruise and our second cruise on the Wonder - we tried to get on the Dream for February 3 but there was no room. I'm not disappointed though, Disney treats us great and I know we'll have a good time.

We've never been to Miami and I am frantically reading up on stuff but does anybody have a recommendation for a hotel to stay at before we board? We're flying down a couple days early so we'll need a place to hang out.

Looking forward to a great cruise!

Happy to say I'm now onboard as well! I'll be one of several TAs on the ship as part of an agent training. I'm not sure if we'll have any organized excursions, but I'm really looking forward to Cozumel again and hope I can get a leisurely beach day there. I did the Punta Sur Eco park excursion last time and loved it, though it was very rushed IMO. I'd rather sit, exhale, and relax. And have somebody bring me drinks. :)

Forgive me for boasting, but this will be my third cruise since November on three different DCL ships! (Magic, Dream, now this). I'm super excited to sail on the Wonder for the first time. I really liked the Magic, maybe even better than Dream. If Magic had Remy, then it would be my favorite. So now to see how the sister ship compares.

Here's a link to 5-nt Wonder Navigators, but it's the itinerary with Castaway Cay, so who knows how similar or different the schedule will be for this cruise.

All I know is Lincoln better still be playing because I saw it twice on the Magic and missed the first five minutes both times. Would really like to see how it starts. Everybody knows how it ends. ;)

We've heard of people spending a day at a resort's beach - they buy drinks or a meal and they can stay all day. We would very much enjoy something like that; how do we go about finding a resort that permits that, and is there some etiquette we should know?

Is there a Fish Extender sign up somewhere for this cruise? Or how do I find one. I have never done this but I would like to give it a try!!

No, there's no FE group on this cruise. As you can see, there hasn't been a lot of activity on this thread, the cruise looks to be relatively lightly booked, and it seems as if some of the people on board are TAs (not that there's anything wrong with that! ;)).

Are there any questions you'd like answered, jodilinton? I see that this is your first family cruise - not clear if it's your first cruise, and/or first Disney cruise. This will be our 5th, so while I'm not an old hand (by DISboards standards), I can probably attempt an answer.

Regardless, welcome, and See You Real Soon!

Cozumel has many beach clubs that operate in that manor. Paradise Beach is a public place, their website has info, they require you to rent a chair and buy some food/drink. Carlos and Charlies has one that is known to be quite rowdy. Popular Beach Clubs that also have all inclusive day passes are Nachi Cocum, Playa Uvas, and Mr Sanchos. There are others, but those are the ones I hear about most often and have the most information available online. We decided upon Mr Sanchos ourselves and will be using their all inclusive feature, though they also have a 'pay as you go'. SEarching for Cozumel Beach Clubs on this board or Cruise Critic will yield many results.

In grand cayman, I haven't looked up that option, so I can't help there, but 7 mile beach is a large stretch of public beach. All you would need is transport, i think.

There was a little interest early on. I think there's enough time to get a little something together.

Is anyone else interested???

I'm sitting around waiting for DD to take her nap and seem to have extra time today :furious:

Now that our cruise is starting to fill up (better late than never!), I thought now would be a good time to get the official roll call together. I don't have everyone's information, and it's up to you all on how much you want displayed, of course. We also have the option of using Google Drive. I have a list set to private there. Only those I 'invite' to contribute may view and edit the list.

I am very interested in getting a group started for this! This will be our first Disney cruise. DH has been a little reluctant to switch from the parks. We just decided to book this cruise today and we are very excited, although I am feeling a little behind on the planning! It is a surprise for the kiddos!
Here is our family, who will be cruising:
DH 30
Me 30
DD 5
DS 9

Please post, or repost, if you would like to join in on the fun! I don't want to assume someone is still interested if they posted a long time ago. ^_^ :thumbsup2

Let's say we cut off on Sunday? That way we have an official count and a week to get things figured out. Or should we say Saturday night? So we have Sunday to do some thinking and shopping before our final week of waiting begins?

For those wondering about Fish Extenders / Exchanges. A Fancy FE isn't required, a small tote bag will do fine. Read more here:
What is FE?
I made ours using theses instructions

Can you add me to the Fish Extender list? I just learned about them and I'm so excited to try them out on our cruise coming up soon! We will be traveling with...

Me 36
DH 38
DS 11
DD 8

My parents are also going to be on the cruise, but I'm not making them one this time!

:wave2:

Count us in! We are a family of 4 from Ancaster, Canada

It's our first DC and C in general. We usually go to resorts so this will be new.

Our girls are 7 and 3.

At Cozumel, we are going to Paradise Beach.
Haven't decided for Grand Cayman, but likely 7-mile.

If you're kids are near in age to mine, they would love to meet them.
