WELCOME Conorama WELCOME I think we should make sure that the 18 to 21 year olds are welcomed on our facebook. The 18 year old are going thru FIBE withdraws and need some extra support (LOL) at least mine is. Thank you for setting our facebook up and I think we should start taking about our rules for our FE group (I have never done one before but I think that I could get us one going till somebody jumps in that knows what to do or I figure out how to do it (LOL). Ideals 1. How many rooms do we want per FE group 2. When should the deadline be to join our FE group. 3. How do we want to give out our gifts ( 1 gift per state room / 1 gift per person in a state room / 1 gift per state room plus 1 gift to each person in the state room) 4. What our name and logo will be or do you think its still to early to start a FE group.

Do we want to restrict the facebook group to disers on the cruise by cross-checking screen name? I saw one other group do this for added security since facebook includes more private info. Thoughts? :confused3

What happens if you have friends sailing that aren't on DIS but use FB? Will they be allowed to join or will the FB page be strictly for DIS'ers? If that's the case everything might as well stay on DIS.

:welcome: Conorama! So glad you joined. Our DD will be 4 on the cruise (and is shy too).

Thanks for all the welcomes! I figured we weren't the only ones with a shy kid - ours, at least, might well refuse to go to the clubs on his own. (I know, I know, he might surprise me ... but fortunately, we go on vacation to spend more time with him, so we actually kind of like it when he wants to hang with us... ;) )

Let me go back and ask the person who organized the FB page for the maiden Fantasy cruise how they did it to provide more details; that is where I read about this, so hopefully I can get more insight.

I think the key difference between FB and the DIS is that on FB, people in the group would have access to more information about you than just what you post on the DIS (real name, photos, status updates, non-Disney likes, etc...of course, all dependent on how you setup security on your FB page). So, my opinion only, FB allows you to get to know people on a more personal level, where DIS is more anonymous. So to flip the coin, the DIS allows for us all to talk about upcoming cruises freely without worrying about our friends' friends robbing our houses while we are gone (have you seen the site pleaserobme.com?) :)

OK, so I don't have all of the info yet, but found that other groups have allowed non-DISers to join the Facebook page. I think this is something we could all opine on (I wouldn't want to allow someone into the group if everyone wants to keep it to DISers). So, please all, opine :goodvibes

If we have friends that are not DISers can we just tell who ever starts the facebook group that they are our friends and that they are on the cruise and they want to be on our FB but not on DIS (kind of like vouching for them):confused3 just my two cents worth:hyper:

I think this is a really good idea. I talked with the person who organized the Fantasy maiden voyage FB page and they limited it to DISers for two reasons. First was because of security, and second was because they were having issues with people wanting on the FB page so they could request that someone buy them maiden voyage merchandise.

Since I don't think we will have issues with people wanting us to buy them things :goodvibes we could move forward with DISers plus those that are "validated".

I am going to go ahead and setup the FB page as a private group (hopefully tonight) and will share more details then.

I like this idea as well. I also like the idea of having the extra security measures in place for FB like you mentioned. :)

Our FB page is setup as a "secret" page. This means that no one except people in the group can see who is in it. Please PM me your name and email address if you want to be added to the group. If you have friends who want to join, you can PM me on here or send me a message on FB. Thanks all for weighing in...if something else comes up that is a concern, I'm sure we can address it!

Same for me if someone vouches for a kid all make sure they are approved for the kids page. My DD's are still waiting for kids to join the page. She can't wait to talk with other kids on the cruise.

Just curious why you need name and email for a FB page add?

I can search by email address and the name confirms that I have the right person and did not fat finger anything. With just name, there could be numerous results.

Turns out I'm not allowed to PM you because I haven't posted enough. :)

I'll get back to you - soon, likely, once I get my questions organized enough in my head to post...

You could always go back and answer the questions posted earlier...that would probably get you to 10 posts (I think that is how many you need, but I could be thinking of the limit to post a link :confused3):

A new question!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Money, of course, is no object!

At this point, all I want to do is go to Hawaii! ;) But, I have a keen interest in the US. This country is vast, so there's definitely a lot to look out and do and see!

Yep, it's 10. This makes 6, I think. Don't worry - it won't take me long to get there, as I sort out all my questions! Right now, I'm glad I got info about quiet places on the ship (other than our stateroom, of course!) for pirate-boy to have some quiet play ... this prevents meltdowns, and preserves parental sanity. pirate:

Good question! Unfortunately, we won't get there on this cruise :goodvibes, but our dream trip is to go to Italy. We would like to go for 2-3 weeks and get more than just the tourist experience. It is at least 5-10 years out :sad2:

If money was no problem ..... I would cruise from on cruise to another .. I would take one cruise get off at the port and go to another ship and board another ship and so forth and so on ... at least for a while. I would not care where they were going as long as it was at least a week or longer.

I have a dream 6 months; Alaskan cruise, Vancouver, California, Hawaii, jump down to New Zealand and a visit to Australia. Come home via Europe
