1/22/2006 Roll Call for Wonder Cruisers

Greetings, all!
I have been so out of touch with this thread. I'm working some real crazy hours (6:00 - 3:30 at the office and then 4:00 til 8:00 on transcriptions from home) and I haven't visited the boards in ages.

We are getting so pumped up about this cruise. MOST of the pirate costuming has arrived, just a few more pieces to go! We're getting ready for a relaxing 8-day trip down to Mexico next Thursday so both Marc and I are feverishly pumping out a jury trial for the court reporter that we work for on the side. It's GOT to be done before we leave cuz I don't wanna bring it with me!!!!!

Palo reservations have been made, other ressies for our short stay after the cruise at WDW were taken care of yesterday, and now it just a few short weeks before we get to meet y'all in the terminal and on our way up the gangplank!

I couldn't believe the number of postings that have appeared on this thread!!!

Wishing everyone a GREAT weekend!
Michael

Kelli, thanks a bunch, I pm'd you our ressie number. :)

Julie, if you link up with the rest of us you'll automatically be moved to late dining. If not, I am sure you won't have any trouble moving to late if you want anyway. An email to Dreams or a call to DCL should do it. You can also change when you get on the ship if you want to wait that long.

Karin, I don't care if kids are around. I'm escaping from my own, not yours! :rotfl: Although I know what you mean... sometimes grownups with grownups and kids with kids works better. We were seated recently with a very lemony older couple on the Magic with our kids. They had nothing to say to the kids (who were pretty well behaved at dinner), or much to us either. I had asked about changing rotations when we first got on the ship but their computer was down and I never went back, and boy was I wishing I had. Luckily they had written it down and actually changed us but we didn't know. Was I relieved to get the call from the dining manager the second day asking why we weren't in our new location. Table for four, whew. Much better.

Michael, good to see your post! Wondered where you had been... I was missing your comments. Have a great trip to Mexico!

Kelli, I just pm'd you too!

Michael, I was just going to pm you today to see if you were still with us! Great to have you back! Can't wait to hear about your Mexico cruise!

Melissa, I'm glad to hear you dining worked out! Our kids are for the most part well-behaved too--but they can't be too tired or hungry, and the service can't be too slow! It definitely is different when the kids aren't your own!

Thought I'd share a picture of our kids (ages 7 and 3) since I just referenced them above. Can't find any of me yet, as I'm always the photographer.

Weirdest thing--when I opened up the thread from my e-mail, the picture came up. But when I refreshed the page, the box with the x was there. Oh well. I will have to find time to get the kodak gallery going! Had a few extra minutes today since I was stuck in the house with my little sickie.

We were thinking about Chicken Little this weekend, but it might not happen now. Maybe it will be showing on the ship in January.

I remember seeing a thread somewhere about "that one girl" and "let's meet somewhere else and not tell her." Hmmm....

I was just kidding too. I am all up for a meet & Greet with anyone who wants. As you can tell, I am quite social! LOL :rotfl2: Any ideas? I know someone (not naming any names) is in a cat 3 and can get Palo room service! No, I am just kidding. Do we all want to meet with families/friends in tow and then drop off the kids to the club or whatever and meet at the bar, or on a certain deck, or maybe Karaoke......? :confused3 In my younger days, I used to play bass guitar in a band. (not kidding) :rockband:

Or maybe you guys just want to ditch me........and are secretly planning a party! :)

I am thinking about attending the wine tasting with DH. I think that would be kind of fun. DH was wondering if they have the beer tasting on the 4 day? Also when at Nassau, I do not think we will be doing much for excursions. Just maybe going to the market or staying on the ship to enjoy it when it is a bit less crowded.

How are the coffee's at the cove cafe'? I am a starbucks fanatic and NEED COFFEE? Just wondering. :drinking:

We did the wine tasting in September. It was interesting. I wanted to get to the Martini tasting but we never did! I think that would be fun! Anyone up for martini tasting?

Wasn't there some discussion about Nassau afternoon? Or maybe I'm just thinking of the bridge tour.

Cove coffee is OK, but not as "candy-like" as I like my Starbucks....I'm a big caramel frapp or caramel macchiato fan and the things I've tried really aren't as sweet as those. But I've just added more sugar and dealt with it! :goodvibes

I had a mint mocha coffee once that was so pretty, I didn't want to drink it. It had 4 or 5 layers in a clear mug, and when I did stir it up, it was an ugly gray color. :guilty: And I had to add more sugar.....when we went in May, I packed some bottled Starbucks frapp in with my clothes. (Much cheaper!!) ;)
uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm caramel frapp yumm caramel.....frapp....hummmmmmmmmmm

Hey Melissa,
How can I go about changing from the early dining to late? I was debating anyway because the kids just eat better when it is later. Can it still be done? :confused3
If so that would be great to all dine at the same time. If not setting together we could still all eat and see each other. I like the 3 O'clock standing meeting at the pool although I hope it is warm enough to swim. One never knows in Jan.

Also Melissa...since you are the closest, we will be relying on you for Florida whether to decide what to pack since it will be in the 20's here! :goodvibes
I would love to link our ressies together and have the same rotation. You just need to call your TA and request late dining. THen one of needs to gather last names, and call our TA and have our ressies linked.

The martini tasting is a BLAST! I'm up for doing it again. We did that on this last cruise and it was great. Unfortunately there were four of them (I hear sometimes five) and I'm not a big drinker, so I caught a little, shall we say, buzz. The ship was rolling a little and dh found it highly amusing when I said it was getting "swishy." Didn't live that one down the entire trip.

I am up for any drink tasting. Actually I do not think i have actually even had a martini. Just the usual mixed or frozen drinks, beer, wine......you know the norm.

:teeth:

DH want to do beer tasting if the have it. He travelled Europe extensively in his 20's and prefers the dark or stout to American beer. I just think it tastes like burnt coffee. YUCK :rotfl2:

Good morning everyone. i just tried to call to change dinner ressies to late and they told me can not be done on the weekend, will have to call back Monday 10 am. I will call then.

Karin, I hope DD is better today. :sunny:

Amanda, Promise we won't run from you!! :teeth:

I have to get ready and got to a baby shower here in a bit. Finally somebody else besides me! I meant having kids...LOL (4 is quite enough for me!) I love them to death but do not want more of the little critters running around! :rotfl:

We're taking it easy for a bit! Today is the start of an easy couple of weeks for us...Tomorrow starts the first of 3 days of Ball for us. U of Wyo is hosting part of the Black Coaches Assoc Tournament, and we've got 3 days of basketball to get through. We both took Mon and Tues off so we'll have a great time! Tues night we'll have the sorest butts on this list!!! :goodvibes

Then, we work Wed and Thurs, then leave Thurs night for San Diego and my nephew's high school grad trip. We'll be home late Fri, the 25th. I can't wait to see how Carnival handles Thanksgiving dinner!!!

I'm going to read up and see if I can figure out how to post a pic I woke up to this am....I've never posted a pic before, so we'll see if it works!!! How's that for suspense......

Good afternoon!

Yes, DD is much better today-thankfully. We got our first good night's sleep in about a week. She and I will have a quiet day, since DH has taken DS to the Rose Bowl for his first UCLA football game! I don't want him ever playing football, mind you! I'd rather he stick with soccer. We just got Directv and he discovered the 24hr soccer channel. He now watches European, South American, and collegiate soccer--quite the fanatic!

Two kids is enough for me! Then you add the DH and the cat--plenty.

Now, for a cruise question: Are you all buying or making your pirate costumes?

Kelli, are you taking a westcoast cruise? Maybe I misunderstood. BUT, if you are, I'll have to talk to you at length about it. I'm considering a short cruise for our anniversary next year. We'll probably be spoiled since our first cruise is on DCL. I would probably go Disney again, but I don't want to fly anywhere without the kids! Am I nuts? If we did fly, DH and I would have to take separate airplanes--I never was "scared" of flying until we had kids.

Well, I'm trying to convince Keith to go to Denver this week to see what pirate outfits they have at the costume store...I'd called them before the PC cruise, and they were very nice about letting us take them for 3 weeks, since it was a slow time for them, but we ended up just buying some cheap outfits online. Still not sure what we'll do for this cruise, though.....

Yes, Keith and I are taking each of our neices/nephews on a trip for their high school graduations, and Josh picked this trip through our university. At least he picked an all-inclusive package, since he only found this trip a couple weeks ago!!! We fly to SD on Friday morning. Going to the SDSU/Wyoming game on Sat and leaving for Long Beach on Monday morning. Kinda neat that we sail on Josh's Bday!!!

They just called us on their way through town and we went to lunch with him and my brother. Looks like we will do Sea World on Friday and have a coupon for a 2nd day so we'll actually do 2 half-days. Then Legoland on Sunday. We'll get off the ship and go straight to the airport to come home on Friday!

Keith and I have never done any other cruise line than DCL, so it'll be an experience. I do like some things on the Carnival website, but so far, they're not beating Disney at all!! We'll be going to Catalina and Ensenada. None of us has ever been to either place!!!

I think I will try and buy pirate costumes. Leah still wants to be tinkerbell if Joe is going to be hook(he would like to be peter pan though). Don't know about me or DH yet.
