I have read a lot in my research the last few months about the 7 and 11 month booking requirements. Seems like the majority suggest that if you cant book at least 7 months in advance, then dvc may not be the best vacation option.
What I did not read much about was the difference in difficulty of booking a short (say 1 or 2 night stay) vs a longer stay(5 days or more).

I currently have a 50 point VWL contract at ROFR. (wish me luck!) My family are florida residents, and would typically want to vacation 2 nights at a time, 1 or 2 times per year. We do have children in school, but the time of year/time of week doesn't really matter too much. I prefer shorter notice, but also have the ability to plan out a ways.

Does anyone out there have the same type of vacation habits as us? What I would like to find out is if we might have more luck booking shorter notice stays than someone who needs a 5 -7 night stay. Does the fact that we only need a couple nights at a time make it easier to find availability? Also, is it easier to book during the week as opposed to the weekend? I was able to rent points earlier this year for weekday travel during the summer at VWL with less than two months notice.
Looking forward to your comments!

When Frozen Dessert Parties were announced we really wanted to go, so 3 weeks out we tried and were successful in getting a 3 night weekend stay at SSR. We went in July.

Then family affairs caused us to have to cancel an HHI 6 night long vacation starting Sept 7. I was so surprised that I was able, at a month out, to put together 4 nights at BWV and 2 nights in VB, both in a 1 bedroom. Until the end, I tried to get the last 2 nights at BWV, but that never happened.

I would not have been as successful if I needed October dates instead of July and September.

Other than mid September through December, I believe you would have much better luck with 2/3 night stays on shorter notice especially during the middle of the week. Weekends seem a bit harder all year round.

Technically shorter stays should be easier than longer ones over the same period. Weekends will be worse that week days as a rule.
