1/17/09 Magic anyone???

It is time to go now? I leave a week from today, but it feels like this will be the longest week EVER!

I'm trying to find travel sized detergent ... any suggestions where to look? Apparently they don't sell it at costco ... kidding. Anyway, I'm going to check one more place and if they don't have it I'm just going to spring for buying it when we do it. I'm spending more time/gas trying to find it than the actual amount I'd be saving.

Well, we're having the kids wear their new sandals in the house to get them worn in, and trying to get them to stay up a bit later to get their clocks changed a bit! Any other suggestions?

We took ziplocks and just portioned out some powder into them. I would double bag it though (individual portions in their bags and then all into a larger bag) to make sure they don't come open.

I was just at Target this morning getting my travel sized toiletries and they sold travel sized bottles of All and single load packets of liquid Tide. I don't plan on doing laundry onboard!!!

Another place I used to buy travel size detergent was at my local laundromat....out of the vending machine....single load boxes of Tide. Bring some dryer sheets from home as well!!!

I have ALWAYS found the 99 cent travel sized liquid detergents at Walmart. I think each one does 2 loads? I usually buy 3 of them before every vacation. At my Walmart they are over by all the travel sized toothpastes and shampoos and stuff.

Well thank you ... I'll check the laundry mat as Walmart in our area has been closed because they're afraid the roof will collapse (as many places have been, boys haven't been to school since Dec 16), because of the record-setting amounts of snow we've gotten. There's a laundry mat close to my work. Does anyone know how much money I'm going to be saving myself? I've decided I'm not going to worry too much about it.

Have I mentioned that I'm super excited???

We got to add 2 nights at Port Orleans to the end of the cruise thanks to the military discount! That should make transitioning back to reality a little easier. We aren't telling the kids though. We're just gonna act like we're driving home and see how long it takes them to notice lol. Do any of you know how early we could possibly be to WDW after leaving the ship? I'm hoping we can have at least 3/4 of a day at a park that day.

I wish I could get motivated to pack. Finishing my packing list and then actually packing just seems so overwhelming right now, but I have no other way of figuring out what clothes I need to buy so I need to stop procrastinating! I also need to redo all my cruise documents now that we're going to WDW afterwards instead of driving straight home.

If you don't go to your assigned last morning breakfast, you can have breakfast up at Topsiders which has a full buffet and opens at 6:30 am. You can technically be off the ship by 7:30 or so as long as the ship is cleared for debarkation by customs. Leave ship, pick up your luggage in the terminal, and be on your way!!! It is only an hour to WDW (or a bit less) so you could get a 3/4 day in for sure!!!

We've made it to a park opening at 9am on a previous cruise!!!

I don't know the answers to any of your questions, but I will say how freaking cool it is that you're surprising your kids! I wish I could do that, but I'm terrible at keeping the fun secrets! Have a blast!

Oooh that would be awesome! We wanna do AK that day and I know it's not open very late so we want to make it as early as possible to get our money's worth.

We surprised them once a couple years ago. It was SO funny. It took us 2 days to drive to WDW and we told them the whole time we were going to a toy store. They totally bought into it (they were only 3 and 5 years old) and my son's reaction when we pulled under the Disney World sign was hysterical.

I have a video of it here: http://lauramichelle.smugmug.com/gallery/4032721_2g4v7#310288588_tYwxQ-A-LB

Oh my that was TOO cute...I love it when your son says "I LOVE it, thank you for tricking me!" :lmao:

I think my kids would have been upset first that they weren't going to a toy store!! :rotfl:

As it is, they keep telling me they want to go to WDW and not DCL...they'll LOVE it once we get there (they have been before!) but just went last summer to the parks and just want to go back...I wish we could add a day on for a day at the park...maybe I'll check on changing flights! :woohoo:

OMG! Your children are ADORABLE! When we planned our trip, those are the moments we're paying to see ... the looks on their faces! PRICELESS! Thank you so much for the preview! I'm more excited now than anything! That's the best pre-view I've seen ... that's what they should show on the Disney Vacation videos! :goodvibes

I showed the video to my boys and told them to look out for your son! I'm not sure if he'll be in the same age group or not, but don't be surprised if you see a little boy coming up and saying "I saw you on the internet" LOL! Not a shy bone in that boy's body! I apologize in advance!

Well it's official, we received our documents today. We are actually going.

That was a great video and I bet an even better feeling at their reaction.

Here are some pics and we are at the 10 day mark.

Great video...we did the same thing once with our kids when they were young....have no idea where that video is!!! I started cracking up when I heard your husband refer to your GPS as Monica......I think that was what he called it....we call our Delores.

Anyone else have a name for their GPS????

MJ

Tell FLTink that she should put me in her suitcase being an official self party posse member!

We're all the way aft on Deck 6 - port side - 6154. We're in the HC cabin. My DH will have his ECV on board. Let's hope he won't need it too much.

Laura - Your kids are adorable. My favorite line "Thank you for tricking me." It made me laugh!!:goodvibes

He is 7 so he'll be in the Oceaneer Club. He's VERY shy and I have trouble getting him to stay in the club for more than 1 activity at a time. I'm really hoping he'll make a friend. If not, his sister is 5 and will be in there with them and she's a social butterfly so maybe he'll have fun hanging out with her (though he'll never admit that!).

We have a different van now and it has a built-in GPS screen thing. Well must be the newer GPS isn't as sexy as that one because my husband has never been interested in naming it. He still keeps his Monica laying around though, even though she's no longer used. :lmao:

Thank you! They are goofballs. The trick was I had told them we were going to Disney World in November - after his 6th birthday and after daddy's birthday...which was true. But when my husband got back from Iraq in May (07) we couldn't stand waiting anymore so we took a cheapie down there in June and the kids just had no idea. So that's why he kept stuttering about "tricking me" and "after my birthday" and "daddy's birthday". :rotfl:

I just realized I should probably post a couple pics of us, otherwise no one will know who we are next week! Does anyone else have pics of their family to share?

Donnica, I would bring you in a heart beat, if I could pay for you.:confused3 But seeing as it's kind of hysterical that we are cruising, considering how bad the economy is and all, no can do!!!!!!!!
