1/14/07 Wonder Anyone?

Sounds like your trip went about as well as mine

I'm trying to keep a positive attitude KNOWING I will be returning next year. Just trying to decide on another 4 night or 7 night. I personally thought the 4 night was long enough but then again, maybe b/c we didn't really get to enjoy ourselves and I just wanted to GO HOME!

I booked through DCL directly and bought my own travel insurance so I just contacted the travel insurance directly... I will find out more next week.

The longer trips are alot less rushed!!!
We find you are able to relax alot more and hence you have a better cruise
Experience!

takes you a couple of day to become comfortable with the ship!

Jeanne, my DS9 was in the water at Castaway all day too. I wonder if yours weren't some of the kids he was playing with. It looked like they were young teenage girls. Where in IL are you? We are in St. Louis and have snow today, too.

I would love to do a 7 day so we have more time to relax, but in reality it's hard for us to do an 8 or 9 day vacation because of DH's work. I have vacation time, but him being self-employed if he isn't working there isn't much $$ coming in. We will probably stick to shorter trips for the most part.

Mary, my DD Taylor did the cookie baking in the 5-7 group on Nassau day and had a wonderful time at it! Both kids absolutely loved the kids clubs. I asked Taylor if she met another 7yo Taylor and she said she thought there was a girl Taylor there one day. Bekkah, did she make it to the club at all?

We are one hour east of St. Louis. Go there frequently to shop (Galleria), and will be there tomorrow night for the High School Musical Concert at Scottrade Center. We live in the middle of nowhere (Centralia) and must get to the big city for shopping.

The time off for my dh is difficult too, but we have gotten lucky and he manages to make up for it before he goes and when he comes back:goodvibes

My girls were playing with a group of kids in the water at Castaway.

Small world. I love the Galleria!! Shopped there frequently before West County reopened. We also love the Mills mall and the kids want to go there all the time.

Have fun at the concert!! Taylor wishes she could be there, too!!

Jenn does remeber the high chair!

We also asked for the chocolate souffle from palo and the head server gave us some crap, about how it just would not be right by the time it arrived and you are better off going to Palo to have the chocolate souffle there! :sad2:
:rotfl2:
I said OK  :sad1:

After that I told him, I have been on 13 Disney cruises!!
It was not on our first Cruise!!
and let it Go....
But really wanted to make it happen.:wizard:

We did receive another charge on our credit card from Atlantis!!!
for both rooms that we never went to! :rotfl2:
we left about 3.. Kids had fun!

That is too bad about the Atlantis room charges (I will keep an eye on my credit card just in case). We actually went to the rooms to collect our soaps and shampoos :rotfl:

Our head server was incredible and surprised us with the chocolate souffle. Her name escapes me but she is from South Africa and engaged to Brent the cruise director. She used to be on the Magic and I think is the only FEMALE head server (feel free to correct me). She spent time at the table each night and I was surprised how much we saw her. The souffle was a total surprise and the teenagers really felt special getting the "adult dessert". I really think that after 13 cruises, a little souffle wouldnt be too much to ask for. pirate: I hope that you make up for the souffle on your upcoming cruise. She also brought my dh the fruit flan from Palo on two other nights.:rotfl: We had less than wonderful servers once and that practically ruined my whole cruise.

Funny

Jenn said we should go get the soaps & shampoo's also!! :rotfl2:

And Jump on the Bed :rotfl2:

Tell Jenn she will be glad she didnt go jump on the bed. Dh and I took a little look under the covers and a look under the beds, in the shower, etc. They were the FILTHIEST rooms we have ever seen, and we have seen plenty to compare them with. We were not impressed. Worn carpet, dingy walls, etc. We were very glad to get to experience Atlantis for a day, because we loved it but have NO desire to go and vacation there.

I looked in the gift shop by the Dig, and it was 40 bucks for a beach towel. Ugh, what at waste.

We took frozen smuckers pb and j sandwiches off the ship with us and the kids ate those instead of buying stuff there. :rotfl:

Shelly - Taylor went to the club quite a bit. She came back one day and said she had met TWO TAYLOR'S THAT WERE BOTH 7 Y/O!! She was really excited... So anyways, I told her to ask if one of their mommy's name was Shelly and she came back and told me yes so perhaps our Taylors DID in fact meet since I wasn't able to do much!

The 12 Yo twins enjoyed the kids club!

the 14 yo girl did not like the club to much, but the 15 yo boy like it alot!

The luggage really took a beating this trip!
one bag Delta was able to rip off both handles :confused3
one on the side and the one on the top.
lucky it rolls...;)

We had to purchase a bag at the store, to get everything home!
loooking at the bag yesterday - noticed small tear in the seam, have to get on the phone with DCL to get a replacemant.

It cost $135.00 :scared1: lets hope we have no problems,
It is the Mickey rolling duffle.

Have a great day! :)

Wow the cruise is over and now is this thread it seems :guilty:

Just wanted to update that we are getting reimbursed for our cruise half of the total cost of what we paid. I am in such shock and so grateful that I ended up getting the insurance!!

We are all moved into our rental house now. It's been a crazy few weeks but I think my life might be slowing down now...

Jason and I are going on the Sovereign of the Seas cruise in April for our anniversary so I'm focusing on that and HOPEFULLY it will all go okay and yes I did get travel insurance this time as well :rotfl:

That's wonderul, Rebekkah, that travel insurance paid out. BTW, congrats on selling your house. I can't imagine a double move with a baby. We moved when I was 8 months pg with a 19 month old and only once and I thought I would jump off the bridge! Take care of yourself, look forward to your anniversary trip, and do some nice things for yourself.

I finally have my pictures somewhat organized -- though I got lazy and stopped doing captions about half way through and they're not in the right order -- but if you want to take a peek, PM me with your email address and I will share!

That's great news! We are waiting to hear on ours. We are cruising to Alaska this summer, and I bought travel insurance then too. If someone gets sick then, I might have to give up cruising, although I have mentioned to Thad that it would be fun to do the Wonder Double Dip next summer!

Rebekkah - Glad to hear your insurance company is reimbursing you somewhat. Let us know how you like that other cruise line when you return.

A lady I work with was on the Mariner of the Seas parked near us at Port Canaveral and departed on the same day for a 7-day cruise. Their first stop was Haiti. She said the cruise line purchased a small city there and uses it for their cruise visitors. I asked if they saw or heard our sailaway party on the Wonder, and she said they were probably unpacking at the time. She doesn't think they had a sailaway party on their ship. Sounds like they didn't have nearly as much fun as we did. :)

Well since we never got to meet :sad2:
I would love to see the photo's :woohoo:

We received our Castaway Cay Shoreside Survival Kit in the mail Saturday. Did anyone else get theirs yet? It has a CD with lots of pictures and also some great musical clips. My favorite is Day at Sea Daydream. Very beautiful music that brings images of wonderful naps on deck 4, or sunning by the pool, or standing at the deck watching the sunlight sparkle on the water.
We are ready to go back for another cruise. Somebody please send money. :rotfl:

Do you have Paypal? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We did not get the SSSK :confused3 dought we will.

We are looking into the 5 night Magic in 2008 - that is the one just after the repo returns the ship to PC. :cool1:

I doubt we will get the SSSK either. DCL never sends us anything after we cruise. I guess they figure we are already hooked.

We considered that 5 nighter on the Magic also, but it conflicts with all our schedules:guilty: So, we ended up booking the westbound repo and the 08 Thanksgiving Magic. Anyone else going on either of those?

Wishing you all a great week.

Well, don't tell Disney, but we are hooked, too! May not be able to afford a cruise every year, but will definitely start planning/budgeting for it. We attended Mousefest one year and really enjoyed it, so maybe we can do the land/sea Mousefest cruise this December, if it hasn't sold out already. I need to look at the schedule and see what will work.

As of last Friday I am retired from 38 years of federal civil service, so the opportunity arises to do more traveling. Still not sure what my exact salary will be, which will sort itself out over the next few months, but I'm sure I can budget a few spare coins in there somewhere for another cruise. I can't take the hot weather so it will probably be in the November-January time frame again. Evidently we were very lucky to have such beautiful weather on our January cruise this time. Maybe Nov-Dec would be safer, weather-wise. Any of you experts want to comment on the weather at that time of year? If we just did the cruise and not the parks, we could do a 7-day cruise with no problem. Now, just where do we want to go.......? :yay:

I would pick the cruise....

:lmao:

Jeanne - Could you please adopt me and my family as we could never afford all the many Disney cruises you get to go on!!! :rotfl2:

We haven't received anything in the mail since our cruise. Taylor had fun but I'd like to do a Western cruise and she says if we are going to MEXICO she doesn't want to go  I told her fine by me... one less person I have to pay for :rotfl:

I think we will try out the Freedom of the Seas before we return to DCL. I will definately return in years to come once Tucker is (waaaay) older but for now, Taylor wasn't OVERLY impressed and we figured we could get a SUITE on a different cruise line for what we pay for an OV on DCL.

Sooo that is that... we sail on the Sovereign in April which I know will not compare to the Wonder but it will be a nice (cheap) get-away.
