1/14/07 Wonder Anyone?

Just found this thread ... I have been reading through the forum for months but never clicked on the Disney Cruise Meets thread!
We will be on the 1/14 Wonder and celebrating my birthday and my DD's birthday on 1/17!
There are four of us
Me, DH, DD - 10 and DD - turning 6!
We have a Land/Sea Combo so will be at WDW from 1/10 - 1/14 staying at Carribean Beach Resort. I think we will be at Animal Kingdom the morning of 1/14 as Disney transportation will pick you up there at 12:30!
We are in room 6571
Doing Dolphin Encounter in Nassau (booked on our own)
Doing Stingray Excursion on Castaway Cay

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Hey everybody!! :wave2: I have been SOOOOOOOOO extremely busy lately. I can't believe we sail in less than a month!!! I have finished ALL of my Christmas shopping and now all I have to do is dig everything out of my closet and wrap. I have been tossing stuff back there for months I don't even remember what all dd7 has now! The baby is easy as I only got him 5 gifts  I did order Taylor some shirts from Disney Shopping Online and I'm so disappointed that the sizes run EXTREMELY large!! The t-shirts I ordered her fit me so I'm trying to decide if I should send them back or keep them for myself :rotfl:

My best friend made a last minute trip to see me last weekend. We had a blast and she was able to come see Tucker before he's walking. We also went to my mom's to to her family (my aunts/uncles/cousins) Christmas and we'll be back at her house on Sunday for our immediate family Christmas. Then finally on MONDAY I get to reveal this great surprise to Taylor  :Pinkbounc

I know this picture is late but I've just now had time to snap a quick picture of our tree. To tell you how busy we've been, I didn't even have time to go as a family to pick out the tree (this is a normal family tradition) so I sent Jason by to pick one up one day on his way home. Keep in mind our tree are normally at least 8-10 feet tall. This is what he came home with!!!!!!!!! He said it was the only "perfectly shaped" tree but it's nearly as short as me. I guess it's cute though. I had no trouble decorating it though although last year I was pregnant, standing on chairs and trying to reach around everything with a big pregnant belly.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:wave2: Welcome Jodi!! Glad you found us. I have a dd7 (Taylor) and Shelly has a dd7 (Taylor too!)

Is this your first cruise? It's our first and this is my dd7's Christmas present so this is the best kept secret I've EVER had!!! I can't wait until Monday when she gets to find out and share in the excitement with me!!

I really wanted to do the dolphin encounter in Nassau as well but I was afraid of the water temps that time of year :confused3 At this point, we have no excursions booked.

Welcome to our thread!

Welcome Jodi! My DD is 10 as well! Like Rebekkah's daughter, my kids won't know until Monday.
I wrapped big boxes in Disney paper for them to open Christmas Day. For my daughter's, I used the Disney Xmas princess wrap. In the bottom of the box, I taped a note that says: You are going on a Disney Cruise in January, then taped to the note is a Mickey head luggage tag. I put the DVD and cruise information in there as well. For my son's (5), I used Mickey and Goofy Xmas wrap, and I drew a picture of the Mickey boat and taped a picture of the Wonder on it and put a Pluto bank in there along with a red Mickey head luggage tag. I put them under the tree today. They both wanted to know what was in those BIG boxes!
Anyway, it is exciting...and even more so now that I got my live tree up yesterday.
Laura

Welcome from us, too, Jodi! My DS is 9 and DD is 7. They have known about our trip since last January. We are doing land/sea, too, and staying at the Poly, arriving 1/10 as well. We are in 6552 so we will almost be neighbors!!

Like Bekkah, we have no excursions booked currently. We are doing brunch in Palo on sea day and dinner there on Nassau day. We may not even get off the ship in Nassau -- depends on what we feel like, but I'm hoping to spend the day enjoying the Wonder :goodvibes

Ohhh Shelly... don't forget let's try to meet up for a drink at Senor Frog's in Nassau! :drinking1

Laura... I didn't realize you were giving this as a surprise to your children as well. You had such great ideas and I never even thought about the Disney wrapping paper

I'm getting so excited I can't stand it and Jason thinks I'm crazy. He claims he's excited too (I get a mumbled "Yeah I'm excited") but I think once it's finally time to go, he will be a little more enthusiastic!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Peter -- have you tried tomato juice? Sorry about the poor puppies!

Merry Christmas to all!!! :santa:

Well Taylor knows about the trip now and no... she's not as excited as I thought she'd be BUT I think she just can't truly comprehend what's going to happen until we go.

Not to mention I went TOO OVERBOARD and gave her WAY too much stuff that she can't even remember everything she got. I'm kicking myself in the butt being that all she asked for was a shuffle ipod and uggs and she got those along with a tv, dvd player, and tons of other stuff. She goes to her dads tomorrow until New Years and my sister will be taking her on her way to Mass. Since we left earlier today, my mom said she just keeps asking, "Now what all did I get for Christmas?" Lesson learned... get only what she asks for! LoL

Tucker has an ear infection and RSV so his first Christmas was not the best but he's a trooper and had as much fun as he could.

How did everyone else's go?

Hey!
This will have to be quick but we had a great Christmas. DD wanted an IPOD and got that. She is excited about the cruise....only because she remembers the last one, so it is something she can identify with. Last year neither one really understood what in the world it meant. DS is excited too and he remembers as well. I did put a Pluto bank in his cruise box and he was just as excited about that as the cruise....so, you know, that is how it is with little kids.
I try to get them only one big present and wrap little things like t-shirts and candy and books in big boxes because as far as they are concerned the box opening is the fun of it. My son got an electric four-wheeler as his big gift and that was total hit.
Anyway, that is a quick summary and I am off to bed after the day's events. Hope everyone else had a good one!

Wow... everyone over here has been so quiet! Only 18 days until we sail ya'll let's get excited!!!!!!!!

I am feeling so overwhelmed with everything I need to finish buying and packing for this trip. Our plans have changed a little yet again. Jason's stepmom and his brother and sister (7 y/o and 3 y/o... yes his stepmom is very young!) will be at WDW the weekend of the 12th. We are now going to go to Sea World on Friday which I'm very excited about since I've never been.

By the way, on the DCL website, our cruise date isn't even available anymore. Does this mean it sold out????????

I had cancelled our brunch ressies at Palo b/c Jason decided he didn't feel like "getting all dressed" just to eat at brunch nor did he want to send the baby to the nursery on our last day but now I'm kind of regretting it. We are still having dinner on Nassau night so I guess if I want, I can just see what's available once we board and if nothing, then no big deal. Maybe next time huh? Speaking of which I'm also having second thoughts about rebooking onboard just b/c I don't exactly want to shell out $750 towards another trip while I'm still spending money for this one :confused3 We'll see....

How's every else's planning/packing coming along?

My next dilemma... trying to figure out seasickness remedies for me and kids...

Oh and also, when Taylor found out her surprise she goes... "Oh mommy, do we get to swim with the dolphins?!!" Just when I thought she'd be scared of this excursion which is why I hesitated to book it!

This excursion is no longer available on DCL website and I'm still too hesitant to book with the non-DCL place b/c the weather is so unpredictable for this time of year I'm afraid it would be too cold?

oh yeah I got my DCL documents today!!!!!

Not anyone else, just Me! :cool1:

Also saw a rate of $210.00 on expedia for Comfort suites

Would be willing to split a room with some one if you need spots.:rolleyes1

But I really dont want to pay over $400.00 for us to go to Atlantis for the day!
but $300.00
would be ok!

No one but me in my group was seasick. In fact, the first night I could not even eat my steak....however it was VERY rough, and I took the seasick stuff (whatever it is) that they hand out in guest services for the rest of the cruise. I felt much better, and I didn't notice any ill effects from it. I have heard that ginger works well too, and you can buy that in the vitamin area of Walmart or a health food store.
Laura

I had a slightly upset stomach last year on one particularly rough night at sea, and I took a ginger capsule which just gave me indigestion! This year I am going to look for ginger tea instead.

I got home this morning from work to find my docs had arrived!!!!!!!

As for ginger... UGHHHHHHHHHH I never want to taste anything ginger ever again! Both of my pregnancies I had morning sickness until 21 weeks and this past time, I tried everything ginger under the sun, ginger snaps, ginger ale, ginger tea, ginger candies, along with the sea band wrist band things and NOTHING ever worked!! Zofran which cost me $100 a month AFTER insurance was the only thing that helped for the nausea. I wonder if this would work for seasickness as well since I still have some left...

I keep reading that Bonine is good with the least side effects :confused3 I have some that I was going to try before we leave and see how it makes me feel. Write now I'm trying to shake off this horrible cold and sore throat and it better clear up soon!
