I have heard that if the children are not potty trained they are not allowed in the pools. Is this really true?? Are there signs posted anywhere about it?? Do they have any area that they can play in water??

Thanks for your help. This is really a great message board.

I've read that no child that isn't completely potty trained can swim. However, I've also read that there is a place reserved for them to play in water. I'm sure someone else could give a more detailed answer.

There is one ear of the Mickey pool for non potty trained kids, it is just a fountain play area though, not a pool....
And yes there are signs posted about it.

And it is strictly enforced too!

When we were there, one of Mickey's ears was used for non-toilet trained children. My dd was almost 2 & she loved it. We brought along a couple of plastic cups for her to play with & she had a ball.

Swimmer Diapers are required for the Mickey Ear fountain.

If you can, you might want to wair for the little one to be 3...they have so much more fun then! I am bringing my neice in November, she will be three by then. I would have loved to bring her before, but I just knew that she wouldn't have much fun,and neither would I....:earseek:

The no-diaper rule is strictly enforced, but the kid's in that ear looked like they were having a blast. DD wanted to play with them, but I wouldn't let her.

We just came back, DD 23 months loved playing in the fountain area. We brought some play toys for her. She had to wear swim diapers & it was enforced that she stay only in that area.

When we cruised in Oct the fountain play area for non potty trained children was strictly enforced. My 1 1/2 yo hated the fountain and wanted to be in the pool. She at the time was just starting to use the potty (I know this is young but everyone attributes it to her older sister). When we first went to the pool I put a swim diaper on her not because I thought she needed it but more because my husband said we brought them so use them. I ended up taking her back to the room, putting her on the potty, changing her swim suit and not putting on a swim diaper so I could take her in the pool.
At the same time there was another lady in the pool with a 3 y/o that they told she needed to take to the fountain because she had on a swim diaper. The childs mother said she was potty trained but she thought she needed to wear one to go in the pool. So if your child is trained don't use a swim pant or anything that looks like a swim diaper. Another woman had a swim bottom for her 2-3 y/o that looked like a diaper but was not she said and they made her also go to the fountain even though she stated that the child was trained. It is also much easier for boys to swim in the pool with swim diapers because there trunks cover them up. I saw MANY children swimming in the pools with swim diapers on under their trunks.
I am not stating that this is right for parents to bring their kids into the pool with swim diapers on but on our 1st cruise in 2001 any child could go into any part of the pools. Our 10 month old played on the mickey ears everyday in her swim diaper and I never had a second thought about it.

:( Why not just take him and let him play in the Mickey ear? At 1 1/2 he probably won't even miss being in the pools with the bigger kids. My vote (like you care! LOL!) take him and have a GREAT time!!
:cutie:

I would definately take him too. I think you will regret it when you are on the ship and see all the other infants and toddlers. We cruised the first time with a 10 month old and the second with a 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 yo and I would not of done it without them! Take him and have a great time. Bring some beach toys and he will have a blast in the mickey ear. I wish we would of brought some beach toys with us!

I guess I typed that wrong. He is definatly going he just may not be able to swim on the boat.. I would never think of not taking him on the cruise :)

The little ones definantly had a good time in the fountain ear. I kept DD in there for the first 2 days to make sure that she adjusted well to being in a new place since she had only been PTd for a couple months & was still in pull ups. I had to keep telling the older kids that it was for the kids who were not PTd yet to keep them out. If a 6 yo finds it fun, a 1 1/2 yo should definantly enjoy it.
