09/28/2002 Cruise

Dennis it is the TN State Guard. I served 11 years in Tn Army National guard after a tour of duty in the US Army.

Thanks for all the pixie dust guys and gals. TYLOX is great stuff:p :p :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Doctor didn't write me a work excuse so I guess that in the AM I will fix my DW and I some breakfast and do up the dishes.

Mary and Ave thanks for the info on the bridge tender. It was the first place where we had steamed crabs and stuff.

Cathy I intend to take care of myself;) Just tell Art to take it easy also. Laughing too hard at the staples commercial of back to school may crack a rib:) Mike

Papa glad you are doing better. You must be some husband to cook and clean like that. I would love it if my husband could cook. Problem is even my kids won't go eat at anyone elses house. they all Say I cook better!! A compliment or just a way to get out of the cooking? hmmmm...

The kids and I just got back from seeing XXX. It was a great movie. DH is still in Reno at Hot August Nights. HOpe he gets the cobra sold tonight. It is in the special auction. He said he saw gordon Lightfoot and heard Jay Leno was there.

Had a nasty surprise when we got home. W haven't been in the pool in a couple of weeks. OPened it up to swim and yikes! I thought it was a mouse floating but turned out to be a set of ears yuk looked like cat ears???? My neigbor came over and fished it out Won't give you all the gory details, but it was either a rabbit or a cat. Found all of it. Guess we won't be swimming for awhile:(
Got a new suitcase today. Hoping we can get everything in two large cases and a garment bag. I really did overpack last time. Have started to pack.
We couldn't have gotten documents already could we? I had a note on the door from fed ex yesterday and I am not expecting anything. My kids go back to school on Wednesday. I think they are as happy about it as I am. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Have a nice weekend all. Elaine

Good morning all. Ave and Mary hope that you all have a wonderful family reunion and be sure to buckle up.

Elaine hope that DH is able to sell his cobra. I have to go get a hose for our pool today. It has a small pin hole in it and is putting out a fine mist.

Cathy hope that the headache is gone and that you are feeling perky. Tell Ashlee we said "woof". Tell Art to watch those fingers while doing his woodworking.

Dennis hope that you are catching your share of the fish up there. A cruise to Alaska on a disney ship would be great, but that would mean flying. We can't fly as Kathy's arms are too short:bounce: Mike

Beth E - Thanks for Chat Room location

Mike - Glad you are feeling no pain ~ Be careful with that stuff. My limit on drugs is my vitamin pill and a baby aspirin. Like Sorcerer1 says - when we played sports everyday - no problem - Weekends, my body crashed & burned. Maybe that had something to do with my in-depth study of the "dens of aniquity"?

eShannon - Don't you just hate finding "things" in the pool? YUK!
One fo my cats chased a baby rabbit in the pool last summer. Had a heck of a time saving him. But all ended well.

Papa - Have not been fishing since last trip. Been playing golf and work. Kathy is unable to fly? Not good ... Here's what you do ... Drive to CN and take the Trans-CN railroad to Vancouver - NICE!!!

Nifty-Fifty for Power_Alabama (Chrystina)
Tommorrow - Monday - 12 August
Please help me in wishing her a Happy Birthday.
Don't want the only card Best Wishes she gets to be from AARP!!!

HH&GB to all!!!!!!!!!!

Hooray, Bill sold the cobra. Got $3000 above the reserve. NOw it is on to SunValley over the Labor Day weekend. This time he is trying to sell the 1909 Chalmers. Kind of one of the "first" race cars. It is neat looking but it even "smells" old. I just don't have that love of cars that DH does. I do like new cars though!!

Have decided to keep a little notebook by the computer so I can write all the stuff down I need to remember. someone on another thread (is that right?) was telling about their favorite things to do in Key West. I get confused.
See you all later. Elaine (^o^)

Happy Birthday Chrystina from a fellow AARP member!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Way to go Bill and Elaine. Hope that the 1909 sells also.

Mike

Mike, So glad you're doing better. I have just one more thing to say: EVERYONE BETTER STAY HEALTY!;) We have come too far together, and are so close to the trip. It would be horrible to have any of the Cruisears miss out. So please, everyone, take your meds, buckle-up, eat right, and be careful. OK, now I feel better. Later, Ave'

Good Morning again .. Cold, wet, drizzle kinda day here in Alaska.
Too wet for golf! But perfect for fishing!! BUT Org-BBQ today! !!!

Rellingtwin (Mary) - What "country" is Castaway Cay is in? Believe it is Bahamas but not sure. Have located Chrystina's anniversary gift to me!!! (7Pc Fly-Rod). Neat, small, compact - Can carry without any difficulty - Thinking about it. Anniversary is WED so I do not have much time to make sure she gets the right gift! :p

My efforts to get her a birthday-anniversary gift of significance have failed, so, needless to say, she will get a "special" gift during the cruise. Fortunately, we are not stopping at St Thomas or St Maarteen. The jewelers there meet her at the dock! ;)

eShannon - Glad to hear that DH trip is going well. Does that mean he buys the round after Twinave? :smooth:

Must give STONG CONCUR with Twinave ~ Be careful, be safe!!!
Well, off to the gym to do my "battle of the bulge"

HH&GB to all

Happy Birthday Chrystina!
And many more!

And to the rest of the cruisears - be careful and stay healthy!
Especially you Papa! We need you!

Yup, Castaway Cay is Bahama territory. Does anyone ever get their postcards back?!! I asked local P.O. about location of mine from April 01 cruise and was told, "Well, it's a postcard and they get lost." Nice attitude!

Rae

Mike - I hope you're feeling better. When I read your posts I thought you had multiple personalities. Glad to find out it's just family. I was thinking that drug "TYLOX" was doing something to you. ;) Sounds like that granddauther is a cutie.:Pinkbounc

Kathy- I think Mike needs a raise;)

Happy Birthday, Chrystina--let's see about getting you a cake to celebrate on the Magic--Wonder how many pieces we can get out of one birthday cake?

Mike, after some procedure the doctor told Ed to take it easy for the next couple days--no lawn mowing or heavy lifting. Ed wanted it in writing with no date so he could use it for years and years. Seriously, I'm glad you're feeling better. We want every one of us in top condition from 9/28 till 10/5.

For those of you with kids starting school--is this the normal fall time to start back for you or do you have year-round school? The district where I live doesn't start until after Labor Day. They tried starting earlier for a few years (last week of August) but too many parents complained about cutting short their vacation time.

I wonder if the Staples people know how many of us love their commercial.

The hot weather is back in Pennsylvania. That means the air conditioning bills will be amazing another month.

Hope everyone is doing okay,

Karen

Yes Mary, I am lurking, but you guys are awful hard to keep up with. MEGA POSTS.

Papa, hope you have a speedy recovery. Be careful. You need to be in good shape for the 10/11/03 cruise as well as the 9/28. Viking will be dragging you in to the exercise routine.

Have a GREAT CRUISE all you CruisEARS. Hope too see you all on the Cruisetoberfest II on 10/11/03. I will try to keep the Magic in useable condition for you while I am on the 9/21 cruise. :teeth: You can be sure the exercise equipment won't be wornout by me. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Dave

DH just pulled in the driveway with smiles on his face. Asked him if we would buy the "next round" and he said SURE!! This man is extremely easy to get along with at the worst of times and in the best of times he is an angel. Oops, don't let him know I said that though.. You know how "they" get:p Anyway, William DS is working on a little "surprise for my post. HOpe he figures it out soon.

My kids go to a charter school here in our communtiy. Hence the reason they are starting so early. They go the same amount of days as the public school but we get a longer vacation at Christmas and spring break. We also do not get all those single days off that public schools get. OUr kids do not go on field trips and only have one recess each day. Sounds hard, but they love it. It is based on a method called the Harbour Method. All kids respect each other at all times, no talking allowed in the hallways, very strict. We have the highest quality teachers because we pay well. Anyway, will get off my soapbox now. Look for next post.

papa; hope you are feeling better.

Everyone else, have a magical week. Elaine:wave:

Chrystina....
Mary singing~~~~ Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Chrystina!!!!!
Happy Birthday to you!!!

Karen the schools here in TN used to start the day after labor day. The schools start here in Nashville tomorrow and some systems in the state have been in class for a week now. There are some year round schools in the area.

Dave we are doing better. Hope that you and Ellen and the rest of the family enjoy your cruise and if you sail in the 12 meter regatta that you win. Looking forward to seeing you and Ellen on cruisetoberfest II.

Rich tell Rosemary, and Richie we said hello and that she is one heck of a shopper to get that good deal on her dress.

Mary remember that just because you live in the south now, family reunion does not always mean that people are looking for new mates;) ;) ;) ;) Tell Mr. George and children we said hello and have a nice time with all the inlaws and outlaws. Mike

Busy weekend here! Kids start school tomorrow! They are very excited. This is the normal time to begin public school here in SC. However, they finish end on May!!They do not have "snow days" here, we have "weather days" because you never know if it will be snow (we had a school day cancelled for snow last year) or if it will be hurricaines!

Also this weekend I am getting my home ready for my family reunion. I am hosting it this year and my brothers and sisters ( all 7 of them plus spouses and children) are going to be arriving starting on Wed from New York, Florida, Oregon, and Washington DC.As host I have been busy setting up tee-times, resturants, airport pick ups ect. It's going to be a lot of fun. I can't wait to see everyone.

Elaine...congrats to DH on the sale of his car(s)!

Mike, glad your feeling better. Ditto what Dennis said about Tylox! Powerful stuff! It's such a good pain med, that sometimes people overdo it because they do not feel the injury.

Dennis, I will NOT be doing any running (except after my kids) I DO have a Iron Man Tri-Athilete T-Shirt!!!But that is as close to running as I will get!

Dave, still hoping to cross paths with you at the Radisson on Sat morning!

No new updates on the list. I did get some help from Jul on the list(THANKS AGAIN) so it will look a little better.
Lurkers....send that info!

Goodnight to all. It's back to 6am wake up (it's been 6:30 all summer) in the morning!Another weekend gone, another weekend closer to 9/28!

Happy Birthday Crystina! Hope you had a wonderful day.

My birthday was Aug. 1. Got to keep my DGD all day. She sure is a sweetie, well until she turns into Dr. Jeckle (?) around 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. or so. I guess it is colic. Her mama and aunt and uncle had it too. :( until about 3 months old then it just went away.

When we first moved to Alabama I was 10 years old. School started after labor day then would go out for two weeks in Oct. (I think) for cotton picking. I wanted to pick cotton with all my friends but my mom wouldn't hear of it. Later I found out why. That stuff is awful on your hands. I felt so sorry for my friends who came back to school with their hands all scratched and scabbed over. This was in 1958 and they were still picking it by hand and paying them 3 cents on the hundred weight! Talk about child labor issues! We also got out of school for ice storms and snow. Here in Nashville it is ice storms and snow or no airconditioning, or bomb threats. :(

Thanks for all the well wishes, Mike is back in rare form and has milked it for all it's worth. We have eaten out more this weekend than we have in awhile. Today he is going to babysit with Katie. I guess he could be at death's door and would slam it shut for a chance to be with his little sweetie. All she had to do is hear her Grandpapa's voice and she grins. :D I think I am going to have trouble from that. ;) He is already offering to get her ice cream and oreo cookies and she is not even on rice cereal yet!

Take care everyone. Kathy

Since I've been talking and talking about Stingray City (It wouldn't be nagging if he'd listen to me the first time!), Ed has finally consented to book Captain Marvin's. Just so we're not with STRANGERS--I wanted to double check. Are DIS-ers booking the half-day? Would you recommend calling or e-mail?

Thanks--

Karen

Karen, WE are going at 10. I believe it is a half day. We are with the rest of the group. I did it over the internet. Elaine Glad you will be joining us. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I think I have finally figured it out ... must be an allergy or sinus thing that is especially bad with our dry - hot summer. Have appointment next week, hope to get some good drugs to get rid of this.

Mike ... Glad to hear you are back to your old self.

Got a super deal on glittery gold material to make a top to go with a long black skirt I have .. so I'll have a 2nd choice for formal night.

Heard there is some flooding in Germany ... Hope Anja & Eric are OK.

Chrystina ... Hope you have a :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: x 2 nice birthday!

Check back later ....
