09/28/2002 Cruise

Dennis, No, you do not need your passport. A birth certificate and drivers licence will do fine.

OK, OK...Vonda amd Kimber...make fun of me all you want! I can take it!LOL:p

Kimber, thanks for the info on dinning times. So I guess we wiil just have to wait and see!

Ave...congrats on your upgrade! So, since our ressies were linked, think we'll get one too??

Rae...CASKET FESTIVAL!!! Your mom sounds like she has a great sense of humor! Can't wait to meet her!

Hello All and welcome Kim and crew to the cruisears cruise. Just ask any questions and we will try to answer them even if you don't know the answer;)

Mary, Mary, Mary. Where is spell check when we need it. Now if you were my age you could blame it on senior moments. Never mind, you have young children and that will do it to you also:D

What is this about you buying the first round Ave? I will have a large rc cola and a moon pie to go:p

Chattanooga, TN is the home of the moon pie and Krystal restaurants. I will try to remember to bring some goo goo's if I don't forget.

Mike

Welcome to Kim and family from So. Cal. Glad you decided to join us.

Both DH and I submitted all the information to get our passports today. We should have back in time for the cruise. However, if not I have birth certificates for each of us. Dennis we just decided to get them before the price went up. Everywhere it says that birth certificates with the raised seal are acceptable. However, I had to make a special trip today to get a raised seal birth certificate from Harrisburg (only 30 minutes from my house) for myself. Just in June I used my current birth certificate which is 52 years old to go on the 4 day cruise, however that doesn't have the magical raised seal so the State Department won't use it for the passport. What a pain. I spent my day off running around getting all the information in order. Well, at least it is done. Maybe DH will take me somewhere where they will actually stamp the thing.

Norm born in Baltimore, MD. in 1948 Moved to York @ age 2.
Went into service in 1966. Stationed at Fort Campbell, Ft Gordon, Fr Knox and Korea. Moved back to York after the service and has been here ever since.

Nancy born in Williamsport, PA. Raised in Renovo, PA, Attended Nursing School in Harrisburg and lived there for 1 year after gradutation. Married Norm and moved to York 31 years ago.

Since we are DVC members we spend 1 week per year in Florida.

It has been so interesting to see where everyone has lived.

Goofynut--Do you know the name of the pierogies that are made there in Wilkes-Barre when you get off that one exit off I-81? My church has a big carnival every year and they always buy the pierogies from that place and sell them at the Polish stand. They are very good.

You never get a straight answer to a question from CM. I think the information is not passed out to everyone in a timely fashion. I just changed my WDW ressie for after the cruise and the CM had just learned today that CBR was being closed. That has been posted for several day on intercot. They didn't even know that the Western Union Schooner wasn't going to be there and they are still booking excursions for it. Only when we get the boat are we going to know for sure those dining times. As long as they serve me the food, I don't care what time I get it.

Cool front is suppose to come through tonight. Maybe can have the AC off for a few days.

Nancy

Ave,

You must be living the good life. First you get the Fl discount for the cruise, then your team at work wins Team of the Year and now you get a cabin upgrade. Girl you better go buy a lottery ticket as you are on a roll. Then when you win big, it will be drinks for everyone for the entire cruise.

YOU GO GIRL.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

What a difference a week makes! I just noticed that the 9/21 board has a total of 45 posts. 45! Are those cruisers just quieter than we are? Maybe they aren't as friendly? I'm worried about my friend Dee (we met last February on the Magic). Too bad she didn't choose the best time to cruise.

I am really disappointed in the weather forecasters. We were supposed to get some much needed rain last night when a cooler front arrived. The lawn (straw, that is) didn't see a drop.

Hope everyone has a Magical day--

Karen

Good Morning,

Weather has finally cooled off - thank goodness.

The information I received for my rotation was from the same lady that told me that my Main Dinner time was going to be 5:30pm. So I do not know whether to believe it or not.

Take Care

Good morning! Our 1 day of "cool" weather (low 90s) is over. Back to triple digits today!
I've really enjoyed hearing where everyone lives/lived.Keep 'em coming!!
Until I hear the 9/14 cruisers say they have gone back to the original dinning times, I'm going with the assumtion we will be eating at the "new" times. A little mystery will be good for my obsessive/compulsive planning disorder!LOL!

I'm with Mary on this one. A little mystery sounds great. I'm pretty sure that none of us will go hungry.

Has anyone figured out how many of us are Castaway Cay members (repeat cruisers) and how many are first-timers?

Karen

Good morning all! Another day closer to our cruise and the smell of fresh coffee mixed with the ocean breeze.

Kathy and I were fortunate to view a shuttle launch once and it was fantastic!!! We watched it from the bridge going over the banana river. Didn't hear the sound, but the white smoke and flames were something else. Only problem was she didn't want to give up the binoculars:) I was able to see it without them ok too.

We are still undecided about any cozumel excursions, but we still have key west and grand cayman covered.

Have a wonderful day. Mike

Have Rikersmom as our Dining Mates now! HURRAH! Disney confirmed! Thanks Karen!!

Spoke to Disney regarding dining changes - so far we are on the 6 and 8:30 PM times (subject to change). "Control freak" here - got to have everything down in writing and confirmed! AGGHHH!

Also each cruise will offer a rebooking special and those wonderful days of just phoning your reservation in the allotted time slot and cruising in the allotted time slot to get the $$$$$ is over. (Luckily, my December 02 and May 03 are still covered for the discounts)

I am dreaming about the ship now - is that getting sick or what!!?

Hi everyone,

We are a family of 5 going on DCL for the first time. We have 3 children, 13, 9(will turn 10 on the cruise) and 4. We are going with my parents as well as some high school friends and their two boys.

Needless to say we are all looking forward to this vacation. We were supposed to have gone last October, but due to the events in September we had to change plans.

Is there any "must do's" you would recommend as well as things to skip?

Hi badgerboy!

Welcome to the group! The only MUST on a Disney Cruise is have a good time!

I'll be cruising with my Mom and my son (7) - sounds like you will be having a ball with your family and friends also.

Notify Disney that your child will be celebrating a birthday and they will have a small cake available and sing to them. We did this for our anniversary and it was great!

Lots of information available on the boards - tips from how to save money to which excursion is the best.

Welcome!

Rae

Hurray, someone turned off the oven and put on the fan with the cool breeze. To bad I'm at work today, maybe I can leave early to enjoy the beautiful day.

So should be make our next question who is a Castway Club member and how many previous cruises? The gift this year is a beach blanket. Here is more information for you to keep track of Mary.

Nancy & Norm---Castway Club members This will be our 3rd cruise with Disney. Two previous ones were 3 day and 4 day on the Wonder.

Enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are.

Nancy

This will be our third disney cruise. All have been 7 days. September 16,2000 eastern. September 22, 2001 eastern cruisetoberfest. September 28, 2002 cruisears cruise western.

Mike

Nancy ... Checking out the name of that Pierogi place .. know exactly what one you mean, I think Mom & Pop's.

Ave ... Coooooool a porthole room. We get one every time cause I just love to watch the water go by at night .. very relaxing. Art had to get Bruce's CD after reading about it in your posts!

Rae ... Homemade Pierogi's are still the best but too hard to find usually.!

Gee don't turn your back on the puter ... or we grow another family or two! Welcome aboard guys, any ?'s at all ... send em our way and we'll get the answers for you.

Rae ... Don't worry about dreaming of the Disney Cruise cause I'm fantasizing! (Past tense of fantasy or whatever ... spelling)

We are in the group of Castaway Club Members (our 4th or is it 5th Cruise).

Check back later .....

Welcome Badgerboy. You must have been posting at the same time I was.

Karen-- I noticed we have more views and replies then anyone else on the cruise board. That is because we are such nice friendly people.

Papa--Did you have that many views and replies last year?

Nancy

Nancy there were 3,335 posts on the thread last year. 332 pages if I remember correctly. Prior to September 11 we had about 40 or 50 families and over 100 people on cruisetoberfest. Had some cancellations , but we still wound up with quite a few.

Have to run. Mike

Welcome BadgerBoy ~ Just read the 100 pages of posts and you will get more info than you dreamed available. OR if you are like me, just ask questions - these fine folks will jump right into help!!!

Good Morning all - Alaska Heat Wave has broken too! Temps have decreased from 78-82 to the more reasonable 65-68 range.
Has clouded over and the rainy season has arrived. FISHING!!!
Bad news is days are getting noticeably shorter!!! Losing close to four minutes a day now! Winter will be here sooner than desired.

Mike - Third time around for Chrystina & I - Just love these things.
My "proper Bostonian" family wonders what's wrong with me!!!

Thanks for the passport info - thought I had lost it - again

Well, it is 0614 in Alaska - Time to kick it into gear at work.
