09/28/2002 Cruise

Ave...can't wait either.
A doz. raw, a doz baked and a cold pitcher!
Sitting on the beach with Keb Mo' jamming!
See you in 48 hours!!!

PaPa ... How's Katie doing today? Sending prayers and pixie dust.

Mary, Let me know what you hear about the shirts and their color. Also let me know about the name tags cause I was going to use the same logo for them. Are the laynards like last years? What I was going to do with the nametags is laminate them and then punch a hole in them so they can be clipped to the laynards.
Have a great time at the beach ... I'll be thinking about you.

For the rest of the DIS Cruisears --- have a nice weekend.

For Mike & Kathy .... Have a nice time with the new grandbaby and her parents. Just curious, have you finally come down from the cloud yet!!!

Check back later...

Hello all my fellow cruisers. Kathy is in the other room hatching plans with Eric's mom. I think that a trip to the super walmart is on their list of to do's this am.

Mary and Ave enjoy each others company over this holiday weekend. Drink a cool one for all of your fellow cruisers.

Cathy I am headed to the hospital shortly while the grandmothers shop.

Can't wait for the cruise. Lord we need some sun, sand and the sound of the waves gently lapping against the side of the ship. Mike

@GoofyNut...Yes the lanyards are the same as last year. I wanted to do this again for two reasons. First...because no-one else has ones like it, I could see at a glance who the other DIS'ers were even if I had only met them for a moment. I have a terrible memory and this REALLY helped me and DH too! 2nd because they are red/white/and blue..same colors as DCL!
I got a template from the 5/11 cruisers for name tags but I do not have the program needed to "open" it:confused: It requires "Power Point"..... That's OK I like your idea better!

I got a new crusier(Rae519) to add to the "LIST" but I don't know when I will send the update. I am getting packed now and will be leaving from work tomorrow. I will try to do it tonight if I get all the packing done ...otherwise it will be next weekend.

Katie is doing very well thank you. Whew! This was more work than I remembered. Katie is off the warming bed now and is being suplemented with formula after nursing. It just seems that the little girl is just not getting enough from mama yet to keep her blood sugars up. :D Girl gotta eat! I guess she is missing all those peanut butter cookies from Schlotsikys (SP) huh?

Katie is off the oximeter but still on a moniter and has IV fluids. No antibiotics! It seems she just needed extra warmth and IV fluids. Well, she was itty bitty. I got to change her diaper last night in the NICU and she wet on my hand. :D I guess I am initiated.

Mama and baby are fine. Stacey was supposed to go home today but due to Katie's prolonged stay the doctor is hoping to let her stay a couple more days so Stacey doesn't have to travel back and forth to feed her.

Let me tell you that Mike and JV (the other grandpa) nearly lost a couple of grandmothers. We were blithering idiots. :D

I have some sad news though. My dads' last brother died yesterday. My aunt, Uncle Johns sister called me at the hospital to let me know about it. My aunt said that "We have lost one but have gained an new one." Yes, I guess, life goes on....

I need a cruise! NOW!
Take care everyone. Kathy

Thank you so much for all the updates. I love keeping up with Katie and how she (and everyone else) are doing.

That is great that they are letting Stacie stay!

Right after I had Annabelle, Joe brought me flowers, a watch and a LARGE Schlotchskys original! What a man!

Sorry to hear about your uncle. That is sad.

RT, I have Power Point, and if you send it to me, I can (Actually, Joe can) fix it so I can send it back to you in another program or as a JPeg or something else....will let Joe fix it.

Seems our ship is filling up fast. Hoping there is room for those of us not booked yet. We would have booked June 1st, except we just spent our deposit on a new water heater. Happy Birhtday Joe!

And yes, we showed our house for the 2nd time. While I was making deviled eggs, and the Heating & Cooling guy was downstairs looking at the water heater. Realtor called and said, "Can we be there in 20 minutes?" So I kicked the guy out of the house, put the eggs in the fridge and left. (Good thing too since they were there in 7 minutes rather than 20) No sale yet though. Could it have been the smell of eggs? :)

Anyway, hope ya'll have a great weekend. Check out the "Disney World Snake" game on the "theme Parks" board. it is kind of fun!

P.S. Patty, Lynette...are you out there?????

Kathy, So sorry about your uncle. But glad to hear that Katie and Stacey are doing well. Guess all that Pixie Dust helped. Not to mention some motherly tender loving care!
GoofyDisney, please book soon. We don't want to lose you!
Twin sis (Rellingtwin) will be here tonight!!!!!!!!!! She said to leave the door unlocked and have the air mattress set up before I go to sleep, but I don't think I'll be able to go to sleep. :bounce:

Way to excited!

Hope everyone has a GREAT WEEKEND!

Ave give Mary and the rest of the family a big hug from us here. Take care and enjoy your family this weekend. Everyone stop a minute and remember those that gave their lives in the defense of our great nation. Mike

Baby Katie is Beautiful!!!

What wonderful pictures you took! Jeff was about that size when she was born. They make the newborn diapers so much smaller now than they did then. Trying to find something to fit her was terrible. I have these little preemie onsies of hers saved. THEY ARE SO SO SO TINY. She too was in NICU and Mutt was in the regular nursery. If you have a hard time fitting her into regular clothes you may try buying some preemie clothes on-line. I purchased some last year for guys cousin who had triplets.
Its nice to hear that Stacie gets to stay.

Mutt and Jeff officially turned 14 yesterday. At the last minute I took the day off. When I left for work on Thursday night, Jeff was blubbering in the sofa and getting Mascara everywhere, because we weren't doing anything for their birthday this year. So after a 13 hour shift, I stayed up all day yesterday and bought balloons and decorated the house. Then bought a COLD STONE CREAMERY ice cream cake.

Goofy- you could always wait until the 60 day mark to reserve. Last year at that time, people started dropping out because the money is due.

Well gotta scoot. Mutt and Jeff want to go shopping for their birthday gifts.
miss ya all!
smiles Patty

Just finished planting flowers in the front of our house and doing the flag thing. Just have to do the flowers out back and the veggies and I'm done with the planting. Then it'll be the chasing of the Deer!

So glad Katie is getting stronger ... hope Stacie can stay in too so she will be close to the baby. How are the grandparents holding up!

Sorry to hear about your Uncle, Mike & Kathie ... but I've heard that saying before about one life departs and another come in.

Put the flowers on one cemetery and now we have to go and do Art's patents grave. At least the monsoons have stopped and we can get out and do that stuff.

Got my puter moved and as you can tell, it's working fine. Just have to get my sewing machines in my craft room and then rest a day or so before going on to the spare bedroom.

Remember to put out your flags and think of all who served our great country and lost their lives or were injured.

Check back later.

Happy birthday to Mutt and Jeff. Just think, TWO to learn to drive at once! I admire you. :D

Hi eshannon, hope you are feeling better.

Katie has to stay in the hospital tonight but her mama had to go home tonight and come back tomorrow to "Room In" with her Sunday night to go home on Monday. Stacey is upset with that but years from now we will still be upset.

I wish I had enough energy to plant flowers and get my yard to looking like I want it. I've just been too busy with other things lately. ;) And she is much prettier than any ole flower. In a couple of years though I can see Katie helping grandma with the flowers, huh?

Just a quick update, take care everyone. Kathy;)

I needa cruise!

I have added some updates to my album(katie). Hope that everyone is doing well and I received an email from Eric and Anja. They will not be able to do a back to back next year, but they are looking at doing the October 11, 2003 to celebrate their birthdays. Mike

Hello All,
My little guy, Patrick, and I just planted masses of flowers in pots on the porch. Feel like I am getting a late start. but am now just feeling like doing this stuff. We spent the whole time while we were planting talking about out trip to disneyland. We leave in 15 days.
My oldest graduates on Wednesday. Where have all the years gone??? Seems like yesterday she was like little Katie and now she is planning her summer working and can't wait to get out and get an apartment and go off to college. :(
I will miss her more than she will ever know.

Have a good weekend all.

Peagreenid, Thanks for the maps. Did I tell you I got them? Hope the crowds are minimal and the weather maximal (sp?) Can't wait to stay at he disneyland hotel again.

Does anyone out there know of a nice place to go for a beach holiday? I was looking at the Captiva island area or somewhere in South Carolina? For sometime in July or early August? Just want to take the children and sit on a nice beach. Thanks if you can give me any information.....

I've been so upset wondering if they were going to release TA rates for this cruise and kept watching it fill and fill and fill and thinking that we wouldn't be able to go. I've had 2 weeks off planned for about 6 months now. So I got to thinking the other day, that If I can't do the cruise well we might as well do something so I've been searching and hunting and searching and hunting, and The ole lightbulb comes on in this blonde head and I think well maybe we should go back to WDW. So BINGO! I decide to call Shades of Green for ressies, and of course you have all heard they are remodeling it and putting everyone up at the Contemporary instead at SOG prices. Well they immediately send me an email saying NOPE, NO ROOM AT THE INN!!!! But, we'll put you on a waiting list. So I've been looking at other cruises etc., and today after coming home from Home Depot with 14 gallons of paint, (can you guess what my DH is going to be doing) there is a message on my answering machine.......(my TA answering machine) from SOG and they have a room available for us. I have to put a deposit on it by Friday. So I guess I'll put the money down and keep waiting for the cruise.
The worst of this dilemna is that DH doesn't know anything about it. NOTHING.... NADA.....ZERO......ZIP......!!!
So would you all pass up the Contemporary for $89 a night?
I'm so so so confused. I want to do the cruise so badly.

Mike and Kathy- i'm sorry about the loss of your uncle, that has to be really tough.

Eshannon-glad to hear that you got your maps.

Well..........gotta scoot.
Has anyone stayed at the contemporary? fill me in. The rooms are in the North Garden wing.

smiles Patty

Hi Folks,

as Papa already told you, there's no back-to-back-cruise for us in 2003, but not because WE 're not able :( It's the fault of DCL!!!! There's no 7-Day-cruise covering 10th of October 03 (My BD) , but fortunately there's a Western-Cruise departing 10/11/03 which will enable us to celebrate Anja's BD (10/14/03). Instead of a double cruise we will tour America's East starting in New England or Pennsylvania. After checking some maps we're even considering to rent a car in PA or New England and drive to Orlando or Port Canaveral seeing as much as possible on the way South and returning to Europe straight after the cruise.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, Mike'n'Kathy - We're feeling with you!!

Greetings from Good Ole Germany

Football Sunday Being avid football fans (EAGLES) we were wondering where is the best place (bar) to watch the EAGLES in Key West. They are playing the new Houston team and I really want to see them. Maybe I will just tape them and catch a look here and there. You will know us by the "uniforms" we will be wearing. Any other Eagle Fans going? George and Barbara Jeffers :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:PS can I get the countdown that is so cool

Welcome aboard George and Barbara here is the link that you need to add the timer to your posts:countdown timer

Peagreenid, HOw funny! We are staying at the SOG(actually Contemporary, Dec 15th-21st) My dad is retired and my mom frequently goes with me to disney. Last November we stayed at SOG and loved it. Decided to go in December and same thing happened to us. We are at Comtemprary for same rate $89 we originally had two rooms as my sister was going to come also but she changed her mind and so we cancelled one room. Let me know how it is. Several people have told us it is great. The onlything is the military rooms are in one of the wings and I was told it was quite a walk to the monorail .. I have requested the main building but will have to wait and see. Hope you come on the cruise, otherwise I will have to meet up with you at the Bon!
Elaine

We are AVID fans of SOG. We stayed during our first visit to WDW and found it beautiful and so relaxing. We walked to the Poly everyday and caught the monorail. Our second trip, I couldn't get ressies and they put us at CBR for $79 a night +tax. I quickly learned that CBR wasn't a Bargain even if they charged me $29 a night. Our room was horrible. I really didn't think that this late in the game we would have a chance in He**, so I'm just flabbergasted. You will learn with SOG though that many people reserve the 3 allowed rooms and then wait until 30 days out to cancel the ones they don't need.
What did they say about being in the main building? It will be interesting to see if they allow it? SOG keeps the rooms and buildings very SECURE. The only way that they could possibly do this would be to keep everyone together in the same location. During our first visit several years ago, guy turned the car slightly and stopped while heading back into the resort so that the kids could see the deer along the golf course in the headlights. Wrong thing to do. WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WHOOP!!! WHOOP!!! WHOOP!!! Guy had to do some smooth talking. He was only a few seconds shy of ending up spread eagled on the ground. They said several times that they "HAD TO PROTECT THEIR SOLDIERS" This was several years before 9/11. They mentioned the difficulties that the contemporary provided for security on the SOG website. The North Garden Wing is also 100% smoke free as is SOG. The price certainly is a bargain, which makes it difficult to pass up. We bought an annual pass the first time we went and then went back down a few weeks earlier the following year.
Well I'm weighing all of my options... SOG is merely one of them. I would much prefer the cruise, but, its looking a little hopeless, I may have to try another one during those dates too.
talk to you all soon.......
smiles Patty
