09/28/2002 Cruise

Cathy you girls go do the stingray thing and Art and I can do the submarine or something else. May just watch the young women stroll by;) That's all we do at our age:D We are too old and stiff to run after them and don't remember what to do once we catch them:D

Mary and some of the others are going to do the stingrays with Capt Marvin. Kathy is wanting to do them so it looks like you have a stingray buddy. Kathy had a blast with her sister and the stingrays the last time we were in Grand Cayman. Mike

I booked my Disneyland trip. No specials there I'll tell you. I really had to hunt them down. I tried for the LS rates, but currently there are none available, and I'm afraid if I wait there will be no rooms available. It is SO hard. So I booked as cheap as I could and I'll get back my own commission I guess.

I have to tell you that things aren't looking so good for me on our cruise dates. Don't know if there will be LS rates available on those dates or not. I called today to check rates, and currently there is Nothing available for 4 people under a category 9. I couldn't believe it.

And I also checked on the so called "FALL RATES", nothing has been discounted since I've been watching them for the past 4 months. When I called DCL today, I was informed that the Announced Fall rates are really only Early Booking Savings. It is still almost $1000 more than we paid last year.

I thought I could talk DH into it, If I went inside stateroom, but there isn't any available.

sniff...sniff...sniff...

eshannon- do you get a rental car, do the supershuttle or take the bus when you go to Disneyland. We always do the super shuttle, but we've always flown into SNA instead of LAX. I'm not sure what i'm going to do this time. I don't like the idea of having no advance ressies on the super shuttle.

Hello everyone else!!
smiles Patty

Peagreenid: I don't do the shuttle because it is just as cheap for us to rent a car. We get the cheapest and generally get upgraded anyway. I too usually fly into SNA but when we went last November, we got cheaper flights into LA so went ahead and still rented a car. We did, however, arrive on a Sunday , early in the am and so there was little traffic. Didn't take us long to get to dl and we like to have a car. I like to have a car as on a couple of the trips we have needed to go to dr with youngest son. and it is quicker if you have own transportation. Also, then you don't have to leave so early. with the shuttle they always want to pick you up so far in advance. As for the rates, we have annual passes at disneyland too and they have some great rates called Super Sunday.(you don't have to check in on a Sunday and they are good all days) The rates I was quoted were really reasonable, For the Grand Floridian it was only 129. Paradise Pier was 89 and Disneyland Hotel was also 89. Of course it wasn;'t the best view, but we don't care about that. Did you get the $94 airfare to LA? Now you have me thinking maybe I should make a "quick trip" with my two sons. We bought our annual passes last November and there are blackout times in the summer so I want to get some use out of them! hmmmm.......
I hope you do come on the cruise. I am quite looking forward dto meeting you, since we live so close. If not, we will have to meet at the Bon when they have a big sale!!!!

papa: my husband likes the submarine thing too. He hates cold water. In fact he isn't real fond of water unless it is bath water!!

yes, we got the $94 tickets.....which ended up being $132 on Delta, but an awesome deal. Actually the cheapest ended up being on Alaska for $112.50.

We had annual passes at WDW the first time we went. Went the next year earlier so we got to use it twice. There were a lot of advantages to it. I just don't think that I will go back again to DL anytime soon.
They had very reasonable Travel AGent rates... but, there aren't any available now. :( :( :(
I actually managed to get in on a great deal at the West Coast Anaheim......Buy 2 nights get the 3rd one free. With my DisneyClub card it was better than evening staying at the lowest ranked Stovall inns.
My favorite place to stay is the Candy Cane Inn, but it was quite a bit higher than the West Coast, because of the free night. My DH is great driving in any city in the World......but......I have no desire. I love flying into SNA.....hate LAX and have no desire to drive from there. We got hung up in traffic once before. I also got 4 day hoppers because our flight doesn't leave LAX until 6:00 pm......so I thought we could spend the morning and afternoon in the park before we left. I may change that plan though.
We'll see how everything pans out.

Patty, when we reach June or July and you say that you may not be able to get on the 9/28...then I might listen. But till then, I am ignoring you. Not only will you be there, but we are table mates, and I will hear no more on the subject!

DL WOOHOO!!!!!

And BTW, we could be paying $125 from Detroit to Orlando on Northwest...but we already promised to srop by and see some friends in Atlanta on the way down at the end of April.

Hope everyone's dogs are feeling better!

A quiet but SUPER cold weekend here.

Did my annual Oscar watch last night. I mark my ballots with my choices before the show starts, and then mark it as they win to see how well I did at guessing. 60% ain't too bad! But I didn't count the Animated category, cause I knew they were gonna give it to Shrek, and I thought Monsters was really so far superior to Shrek. Shrek was Jeff Katz's big finger to Disney. Too bad they wasted such good talent and a moderately cute story on his personal grudge. Monsters was so much better visually, story line, etc. And the "fake smile" they put on the monsters when Shrek won was SOOOOO funny.

I was thrilled to see Randy newman win FINALLY and to beat out Sting and McCartney. Unbelievable!

And For The Birds picks up best animated short. This was the little birds on the wire before monsters that people were talking about. It was awesome!

Anyway, I love Sidney Poitier. Halle Berry looked gorgeous. Russell Crowe is yummy.

I of course, was really watching the show to decide which dress I will be wearing to the Thursday formal night. Halle's dress may be too revealing for the DCl. Thought Renee Zellweger's would do nicely. (and I am going to the post office this afternoon to mail a BRA to Gwyneth. Do they not ever look into the mirror and think to themselves...my boobs look terrible in this dress!) (Sorry you had to read that guys.)

The name tag thing sounds cool. And can't wait to see the logo.

Sounds like there will be some young people around the same age on this cruise! How nice for them.

okay. that is all for now. Everyone have a great start to the new week. One week closer!!! (I think we need to hunt down John to give us a day count and a Pre-Easter song.)

See ya'll later!

I sure am glad you showed up! Yeah- we be doing Disneyland. Trying to get the best deal and it hasn't been easy. There are a ton of deals to be had in WDW.......not so at DL. I so want to go back to the CCI.....but the rates are so much more at this timeframe......sniff.....sniff.....sniff.......i've been reading a little about bidding on priceline.......i may try it. Got to scoot.....we are going to see a movie today

smiles Patty

When I told Joe what you had said, he put in his two cents worth. "KNOCK IT OFF! Its not even summer yet. No more of that crazy talk."

So, there you have it.

Enjoy your movie. (Can I come to DL with you????)

If you mail the bra from YOUR post office, Gweneth MAY have it by the next event ceremony!!! ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Glad you are doing well Goofy!

Hi to everyone else!

OK Peagreeid .... Do not despair, it's only March 25th, you have lots of time to beg, borrow and steal your way onto this cruise!

Just curious, how come Two Palms webcam keeps facing the beach everytime I want to see the ship in port!!!!!!

Mary ... Have you had many more people/families sign up with you lately. Form what I saw, we have less than half of the families registered who said they were going with us. I also don't think everyone has gotten to the "NEW WHO'S CRUISING LIST" on this site. Hope they aren't chickening out on us.

My puter at home seems to be back on track and the printer seems OK also ..... needed a lot of cleaning of the heads, but printing OK.

The way the weather has been in PA, I hope the Easter Bunny is a SnowShoe Rabbit! :bounce: This is crazy .... we should have all of this white stuff in January and February not now.

Anyone know if Disney is having an Easter Parade on TV .... I live for watching those and dreaming of being there.

Check back later.

Well, maybe if we win the New York Lotto, we can join you guys. Popping in to wish you all fun time, even though it is still sooo faar away!!! BUT, it will be here in a heartbeat before ya know it! I speaketh from experienceth!

BTW - Cathy, I have NOT fogotten your request for that picture. Please Email me your address and I will get it out hopefully more sooner than later. I am, after all, the great procrastinator.

Do you guys realize that I am jealous, or what?!

This past weekend, the only thing on that cam all day Saturday was some small fair/carnival where five or six people were walking around and you could see the belly of a cruise ship (not dcl) in the background. It was very annoying.

Hi Tuli!!!! I for one hope you win the lotto!!!

Made it home today after some tough sledding. This weather is so crappy .... sort of like how I feel the lst couple days or so. COME ON SPRING.

My DH works shipping and receiving at our local school district and they let out early today cause of the weather. Awful thing happened to some kids that drive themselves ... a car of 4 kids had a terrible accident and 3 were DOA with th 4th in critical condition. Last year at this time 2 sisters were killed in an accident when they got blinded by the early morning sun and ran under a school bus. I wish the bad luck would leave our school district alone for a few years ... this is getting too much to take.
Art know so many of the kids, he feels awful. Last year the two girls were the daughters of one of the women that works the cafeteria. So far we haven't heard who God took today. Sorry to bum you guys out but please tell your driving age kids to please slow down and drive sensibly and stay alive.

Well I worked on the logo again and believe I came up with an even better "Sailor Mickey". I'm thinking of using this one on our name tags too. I'll let you all know by E-mail when I get it perfected.

Check on you tomorrow - gotta put up my feet, back is killing me.

Good luck on the NY Lotto Tulirose!!! There is a place at our table on the cruise with your name on it:D Mike

We (my family and TwinAve's family) are booked with Capt. Marvin for the 1/2 StingRay trip. They will pick us up at the pier, and bring us back. If you book with them, mention you are with the DIS Group. I am not sure how many boats they have or if more then one goes out at the same time, but it would be nice to fill on up with Dis'ers!

We have had a busy weekend. Remodleing our living room. New Celing, walls, floor and windows! We got the new windows in, the walls painted, celing hung/painted. We will install the flooring next weekend. LOTS of DUST!!!LOL, but it will look nice when we are done.

So sorry to hear of the tragic accident Kathy. How awful. My prayers are with the families of the children!

Death at any age is terrible, at such a young age it is unspeakable. I worry so much about my own children. I absolutely hate thinking about it.

Well we went to see We Were Soldiers today. Not really my kind of movie. Guy likes to see them, but, it is very difficult for me to sit thru them. Guy is now watching Saving Private Ryan on DVD. Too much bloodshed for me in a day.......he allowed me to go to the computer.

Mary- You should also have Scoobydoosmommy. (kelly, from Panama City) What is up with these people......anti-social all of them. Maybe Kelly is going to cruise incognito.....she still owes me a drink........;)

Goofy-did you book yet? Maybe Joe is holding out for the Walt suite for you.....:smooth: And we'll just order room service to YOUR room everynight from PALOS.

Woohoo- Tuli! I hope you win the LOTTO too......and you can pay my way....LOL.

Goofy-I thought you done PI@@ed off the post office lady. When we need the maps mailed.....send JOE and a red rose or something. I missed the show......researching this disneyland trip. I guess I need to get my priorities straight. You and annabelle are more than welcome to join us. I'll price it out if you want.......LOL! Mutt and Jeff would love to see her. And hey, our package comes with Pins.....woohoo and a character breakfast. And you still can get annabelle in for free.

Anyone else for a trip to Disneyland.........Lynette? I know you are going to be spoiling yourself rotten with Concierge at AKL, but hey......you've never been to DL before....it could be an experience.

eshannon- are you feeling better. We didn't make Bogus yet. Planning on going on Wednesday. Mutt and Jeff each want to take a friend. We are going to go to McCall on Friday for the day. The kids want to go to the the Activity Barn for tubing.

well everyone......gotta scoot...i'll check back again.
smiles Patty

Hi Patty, Well I got a date for the dl trip. Sarah (the thirteen year old is going to Camp Creshendo again this summer., she leaves June 9-14. Husband and ten year old going to dw. so I thought I would take five year old and my mom to dl. Got hotel ok but can't find the 94 airfares to la. Where were they? Lowest I can get now is 220. ONly going for four days. Thanks for any info. Elaine

Cathy, so sorry to hear about the kids yesterday. How sad. I hope I never have to find out what that is about.

My oldest daughter wrecked my car the very first time I let her drive it to school. She was picking up her sister and cousins from school and had them in the car. Luckily she only took out the fence at the golf course and damaged my brand new car but walked away from it. No one was hurt. A kind teacher saw the wreck happen and hurried to let me know that it was not her fault. We had to fix the fence anyway. My son totaled the car out a few years later, backing up, very quickly, into a railroad tie reinforced ditch. His cousin hurt her arm, slightly.

Hope you are feeling better today, lots of pixie dust headed your way. I nearly fell over yesterday when you called. I made about 15 bibs night before last and was embroidering some of them when you called. I worked all day yesterday on those darn things. I was planning to go walking with Mike and my machine is just a home embroidering machine and is very slow. I love doing it though. I do not know how to digitize yet.

Hi Rosemary so glad to hear from you. Hope you win the lottery too. Tell Rich and Richie we said Hi.

Hello to everyone else. Gotta go and let out the dogs. Take care of yourselves. Kathy

I posted this once already today, but it didn't show up????
Anyways..... the $94 fares ended Last Week, I believe on Wednesday Night. I managed to get mine, but I told a few friends, and they tried to purchase them and those fares weren't coming up for them.

I did see that America Worst has $144 fares....but it is on odd days... Tuesday/wednesdays only I think so you would have to stay at least 6 days.

I also tried Boise to Sna. Several airlines had them for $166 but again it was a Tuesday/Wednesday only thing.

You could stay 6 days and take advantage of this special.....
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=178951

Purchase a 1 day pass to Universal and get an annuall pass for the same price!!

Hope all is well today....

Enjoying the sunshine, before the next cold spell hits....

smiles Patty

Mike ... Just wondering if you got the Logo OK or was it broken up. How'd you like the clipart on the 2nd choice .... I really like that one and don't think we will have any problems using it. It's also the one that I will be using when I do the Name Tags to go on the Laynards that Mary has.

The poor kids that God took yesterday were all in accelerated learning and very smart ... just did what a lot of kids do and drove much too fast for the windy, dippy road. The other kid is still touch and go. The school was open today for anyone that needs grief counseling ... they are really good about that.

Mike ... I told Kathy about a really neat massage pad Art got me for Christmas for my back. It's by HomeMedic and is shapped like one of those car seat cushions. It has 3 zones for massage and also heat and can be used in electricity or has a plug to use in the car. Think It's getting packed for the drive down to FL. He got it in a Bed Bath & Beyond store - not sure if they are a chain. Might help your back ... I tried this one in the store and didn't want to get up.

Gotta go - work hit the fan again (No wonder I'm experiencing "technical difficulties" ... stress)
