09/28/2002 Cruise

RikersMom ..... how did you guys make out at the petiatrician? AshLee says wooooooof ... translated, hope you feel better and remember don't turn your butt toward the Dr! Seriously, if you can get him leveled off and under control, try asking the Vet if he knows of anyone else with the same problem with their dog and maybe you could get together for a support group and find out who they use to care for their dog when they go away. I know they say they are just animals but most of us know better ... they are family.

Check back later .... good Luck!

One of our pekes(biscuit)is solid white with the black mask. Looks just like a little white harp seal is on rimadil?(sp)for her arthritis. She gets one pill in the morning and one in the evening. She is stone deaf (12 or 13yrs old) been hit by a car and I love her to death. She sleeps with her little pink tongue stuck out. Sometimes when her head is hanging off the doggie pillow it looks like her tongue is stuck to the floor.

Hope that you get to feeling better eshannon. We went to wally world (walmart) it was so warm in the truck that I turned on the air conditioner. Two hours later I had the heater on. Going down to 24 tonight here.

184 days if I counted correctly. Mike

Papa:

BelugaBubba was a reference to me ~ Still an excellent swimmer but my shoulders has shifted south with age :D Combine that with the fact that Alaska is not the best place in the world to get a tan ... and I have a golfer's tan .....

I'll let you use your imagination from there ...

Wow everyone has been busy..........typing.

Kathy and Mike- sounds like you had a wonderful trip.....one of my co-workers said they got stuck in N.O. during the DECADENCE FESTIVAL.....said they weren't talking CHOCOLOATE either LOL.

dogs- I love them to death. But well Tannerman just isn't Buddy. Buddy was the love of our life. Had him, for almost 10 years raised him from a pup.......and well cancer got the best of him too! It was like losing mutt and Jeffs better half. What a kick in the gut that one was. I spent Months stepping over him out of bed every morning to go to the bathroom.......and he was no longer there. Buddy was a talker. Always had to have the last word in....... His spot in the house was Mutts bottom bunk. How funny it was to walk down the hallway and see the dog asleep on the bottom bunk. SMART......oh gosh. He learned a new trick. Hated going outside. So about 10 minutes before the alarm went off in the morning......he got up and crawled under Jeff's bed. OUTTA SIGHT.......OUTTA MIND! Guy thought I let him out......I thought Guy put him out........and he got to stay in the house all day. For some strange reason we just can't get as attached to Tannerman as we did Buddy.......and we keep trying.

e-shannon- Nice weather?.......Haven't seen it......:( It's tough when you go to work when it is dark, and get off when it is dark. I work At Micron.
You would have been very frustrated with Disneyland at Spring Break. That is if you could have gotten a room this late in the game. Most of the stuff I was seeing was already booked out. I did realize why the 20-21 was sold out though. SUPER SOAP weekends were occurring that weekend.
We stayed in the Disneyland Hotel on our spring break trip. Our flight landed at 9:30a.m. They didn't get us checked into our room until 7:30 pm. We were furious. The place was wall to wall people. The line to the Monorail stretched clear past all of the shops and past the pool. Indiana jones had just opened and the lines were 3 hours long at least. They quoted me a great rate at the Westcoast Anaheim. I may try to stay there....it looks pretty nice.
I hope you are feeling better. There are some real nasties going around Boise.

Power_Alaska- I don't think that people can get much WHITER than me........I don't even have a golf tan. Ask my last cruising companions.......i think I blinded all of them!!!

Rikersmom-hope that your baby is doing better. My dads lab was epileptic.......man all of the human/dog issues aren't as easy to tend to with dogs. Dog got sneakier and sneakier taking his meds. We'd find his pills spit out all over the place.
:smooth:

Mike-
Thats the tough thing about Boise Spring weather.....One day it is 70 and the next day you have 5 inches of snow......followed by sub-zero weather. It snowed all weekend here........!

Kathy-no WDW in spring or summer. We have gone both times in November and it was HOT for me then. I couldn't handle the extreme heat. I can't imagine babies in strollers in those temps either.......

Goof- where are you? Did DH get you booked yet?

talk to you all son...........got two more days of work and I'm off for the week.
smiles Patty

Hi, everyone--

I can't tell you how nice it is to have someone else worried about Riker. We had a pretty encouraging vet visit. (I love the term "petiatrician"). Did some more tests, but it looks like the little guy is doing pretty well. We increased his insulin dosage a bit, so hopefully that will help. Thanks so much for the kind words of encouragement.

eshannon--I'm planning to PM you with the e-mail address I have for Dee. She sent me some great pictures of Ed & me that she took on the cruise.

We had snow last night here in PA. Thought it was supposed to be spring!

Wishing everyone a great day--Karen

RIKERSMOM .... So glad to hear that the petiatrician visit went well. Hope he's got a nice cold wet nose today!

Wanted to check on you guys last night but I was in the middle of a post when lost power/had power/lost power, etc. Really bad storm ..... my computer went cattywompas and my printer seems to have a seizure (spit out the print, sucked it back in side ways, started screaming, etc). So needless to say I just tried to shut things down and tonite I'll try and access the damage. With any luck it's just a printer. Don't exactly have the $ right now for a new puter BUT I also know that I JUST CAN"T BE CUT-OFF THE BOARDS......it's my escape.

Hope everybody is having a nice day.

By the way --- Rikersmom, just where in PA are you from ... we are in the Pocono Mountains .. an hour or so outside of NYC.

Check back later.

Cathy hope the puter is ok. It took me a week to get my new one straightened out like I like it.

I have an idea on your logo. I will embroider out my thought and send it to you. Better hurry though, what with postage rates going up. Can you believe 37 cents for a letter. Oh well more bills to pay over the internet I guess. Mike

Anyone have any thoughts on excursions in Key West? Wonder if the Mel Fisher Atocha museum would float us a loan? We saw some of the jewels when they were in Nashville. Emerald and gold cross necklace was quite impressive. Mike

What up Papa?

Key West is a great place to stroll around. Walk up and down Duval street, and toss a few back at Sloppy Joes, Rum Runners and Captain Tony's. Just don't miss sunset at Mallory Square!

We'll be there on the 5/25 cruise. We'll miss y'all!

Jerry

Well, neighbor--I live in Malvern, PA, which is a suburb of Philadelphia. I'm not too far from Valley Forge, if you like history.

We're about 40 miles east of Lancaster, PA. My husband delights in telling people that our neighbors travel by horse & buggy. If you've ever visited the Amish country, you'll understand. We once saw over 100 buggies on a Sunday drive to Lancaster. There is a dairy there that makes the best ice cream I've ever tasted.

From your user name, I suspect you're a Goofy fan. FYI, I saw a new plush Goofy at the Disney Store today. It's been quite a while since I've seen a new Goof.

Keep on posting--

Karen

Would anyone happen to know of entertainment and a fine place to take my "honey" out on the town in Charleston, WV?

Have not seen her since Christmas ~ Going to see her for my birthday present ~ Not sure that I have ever been there ...

Recommendations anyone?

Hi everyone! What a week! Glad it is over!
I got an e-mail today from another Disney fan who is cruiseing 9/28/02. I invited her to join our happy group, so if she posts a message to this thread please give her a warm welcome. Her name is Ronda.

Power Alaska, sorry...if you were asking about Charleston SC I could help you out! But never been to "the OTHER" Charleston! Bell South mixed the Charlestons up one time and switched the yellow page ads for WV with SC! What a mess THAT was!Hope you have a very happy birthday!

DVCNuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How nice to hear from you!Wish you were sailing with us this year! Please let us know what you think of the Western ports when you return.

190 days to go gang!!!!

Hello Jerry my hat friend. Good to hear from you. Hope that you and the family have a very enjoyable cruise and be sure to post a report for all of us poor land locked people.

Still use my hat. When I go to the rifle range here, I have my membership buttons pinned on it:D

Sorry to post and run, but have to finish dinner and get Kathy up to go to work. Someone has to keep this family going;) Hey Cathy, how about an advance on next months disability check??? Mike

Hello everyone,

Just recently saw a post from Mary about the upcoming 09/28 cruise, she mentioned there would be alot of Dis members onboard! Count my family in and gee I can barely wait!! As my hubby left for work my words to hime were "Can you imagine being on the disney cruise with so many people who love Disney as much as me? It will be GREAT!!" We are sailing with our two sons 10& 12(and are waiting to see if my parents may join us). We have done the 4 night cruise on the Wonder just last Nov and loved it. I am a complete Disney nut, we were at Disneyland over Presidents day and will be heading to Disney World in August(this will be a great warm-up for the cruise). We look forward to meeting everyone!!!

Ronda<from Lancaster PA, but prefers crusing to horse and Buggies, lol!

Welcome aboard Ronda!! Glad to have you with us. Mike

Ronda, Great to see you posting here! Welcome to our DIS Cruise-Ears! The more the merrier!!! I hope your parents decide to join you on this vacation.
Are 10 and 12 the ages of you sons now, or their ages at cruise time. My DD is 9 (will be 10 in July) and she and Kimber's DD have been e-mailing one another.Maybe your son would like to do the same?

Welcome Ronda- you'll love it here. Boat loads of nice people!!!:D

Woohoo! I'm done working for the week. I think that yesterday was the first day before a vacation where I haven't had to do the work of 4 days to get a day off. Loads of things I need to do this week, and lots of time to update my parenting skills :smooth:

Well it is a done deal for Disneyland. We are going on May 4th. Wow it has been sooooooooo long since we've been there.

eshannon- How are you feeling? Hope that bug doesn't keep you away for too long.

power_alaska- I don't know anything about Charleston W.V. but, it appears they have historical sites to visit!

Kathy and Mike- how is everyone in your household?

all of you take care.....
smiles Patty

Help Me, Help me Ronda...Sorry, the Devil made me do that. Seriously, Welcome Aboard. You are gonna love this bunch. More like a family everyday. Just where in PA are you from ... we are from the Pocono Mountains (Gouldsboro....not spooky, named after a Railroad Magnate).

Rikersmom ... is the nose still wet and cold and the tail wagging? My DD is having a bad day with her arthritic hips but AshLee still says WOOF to Riker!

Mike ... Don't you worry, I keep looking at the changes in our law to see if there is any way to get you more "cruising $'s". So great to hear from you ..... now Art is realllly stoked about this cruise. He's headed back down to his "big boy toy" room to play with the new router bits he got early from the Easter Bunny after we spoke last night.

Kathy ... Who is your favorite Disney Character? I know who Mike's is. Did Mike tell you, a local hospital just has a set of quads born the other day....1st in 87 years. One boy and three girls, all over 3 lbs. Their picture in the paper was sooooo cute.

By the way.....how do we do the swimming with the stingrays? Is it an excursion or can we do it on our own. My SIL said some of the people on her Carnival cruise did it and said it was a must. Not sure if Art will do it cause "I don't want to smell like a fish".

There was an ad on TV for the Keys and here is their website.....

SIL just did the trolley tour in the Keys and said that was fun, and didn't take up too much of your time there.

I was thinking of starting to do some of the name tags for the laynards .... that way I won't have them to do all at once. My idea is:
Real first Name
DIS NAME
Disney Clipart
DIS-CRUISEARS
Sept. 28, 2002

What are your opinions? I will get them laminated and hole-punched so they fit on the laynards Mary is getting. Just another way to break the "ice" and also help those of us with "senior moments" in remembering each others names! Not to mention it drives those "other people' on our cruise nuts/jealous......cause we'll be the ones having the most fun.

Well check back later ... gotta go make up a design on the puter for Art to "router" in his play room.

Welcome aboard! My DD will turn 12 y/o during the cruise. (9/30) Maybe your sons would like to e-mail her? This will be our first cruise ever, but we are long time Disney fans. We will also have our DS with us, he will be 5 on 9/22. DH has his birthday on 9/21. This trip is my birthday present to my family . Sure to beat stale cake and pin the tail on the donkey. 186 days to go! :)

Welcome Rhonda and family...
My husband and I will be on the cruise with one of our children. We were going to go alone but since Will was the one that actually won the cruise (Even though he and his dad are gong to dw in June which was supposed to be in exchange for letting his dad and I take the cruise alone...)we decided to take him along as he has received a couple of emails from people from the cruise and it seems only fair.... so he will be eleven . Perhaps he could "meet" your son via email. He is a really sweet boy and loves pin trading and anything disney. Let me know.

Peagreenid, How about that rain??? I am finally feeling a little better.. Had a sinus infection. Did you get up to Bogus to see any of the aerial jumping? The weather was really yukky. All snowy. Am getting ready for my trip to disneyworld May 13th. My oldest daughter is graduating in May and so this is kind of an early graduation present.

Look forward to reading more posts from you all. The sting ray feeding sounds like lots of fun. :earseek:
