Hello.

We are thinking of booking the '08 SSMC but will have to take our DS (12) out of school.

Anyone else doing this and what are their ages? Our DS loves DCL but we'd like him to have a posse to run with if we book.

Thanks.

Saw your post and merged it with this thread so it didn't get lost. I know in the past we've had a number of families with kids so hopefully there will be some this time for your son to hang around with.

That's the great thing about the chat room. If you are both in chat and one of you gets through and starts talking to an agent the other can hang up!

Chat & 2 phones (cell and land line) at once- -I have trouble multi-tasking:confused3

My DS (will be 13) is desperately trying to get us to take him. Our plans are to go without him if we can get the babysitter stuff worked out. It would be our first Disney trip without him.

My 13 year old will be home but I can tell you from experience on two past member cruises that the kids make friends very quickly. Our oldest met kids that he still talks about today. I was a little hesitant to allow him to have checking in & out priviledges, but it worked great as we'd find him either in the cabin, a note left for us, or we'd run into him.

On the last cruise, we were sitting in Palo having brunch as our son walked by with a boy he had met in the club. It was kind of nice to be able to snoop on what he was up to without even trying. :rotfl2:

I am personally still deciding about this cruise, but if we go, it will be me and my 8 year old as we've been talking about doing a mom-son trip for a while now. I haven't mentioned the idea to either of the kids yet, for fear of one gloating and one being disappointed. Although my oldest doesn't have any room to complain as we've done a couple trips just the two of us, so it really is time for our youngest to have a trip by himself.

I will need to get on the waitlist as we'll be leaving for vacation on 11/17. I don't have any concerns that a cabin will come available, as it seems the waitlist has been successful for others.

We brought our sons on the cruise for 07. They are 11 and 6. During SSMC08, they will be 7 and almost 12 (both boys).

So your son and my oldest are close in age.

Have a Disney Day - I like that!

PDFG goes back to our December 2004 cruise. We sailed with a gentleman name Garry (the G). Our group sailed again in May of '06 but Garry couldn't join us because he's awaiting a liver transplant. We used to do a silly thing on those threads of celebrating who got a top page so we decided that every time one of us got a top we'd edit it to say PDFG or Pixie Dust For Garry to get him to the TOP of the transplant list. Then as other friends needed some pixie dust we added "and all our friends who need it".

One really cool thing that happened on our May '06 cruise was that we were able to have Don "Ducky" Williams do a drawing of Tinkerbell with PDFG on it for Garry. That's why I love the DIS boards so much - getting to meet and connect with people.

That is totally cool!!! Garry is lucky to have Disboard friends.:thumbsup2
We have also made great friends here on the Disboards. It definitely enhances the DCL experience.

This trip will be just us - DD's are college age and won't have time off school and work in September. :)

I will be dialing on the 17th, I was thinking about making it a mother/daughter trip so my 4 boys will not be coming. lol

I wish this would be me saying im going again but most likely im not.We did spend more then expected on the last trip and with the holidays coming up and the tax/maint. fee($2,400.00) just around the corner im suffering with that disease called fundsarelow.I only have 66 points left over from 2008 and all 2009 points. Our 9th annual 4th of July trip coming up will use 270 of those points and the Sept date is also not good for us.I was planning a trip for our 20th anniversary (Dec 7th) sometime late Nov early Dec.

I could have a change of heart being my birthday is the 21st of nov so who knows what I get for my birthday.

If anyone wants to help get me on the boat for the 2008 DVC cruise then points are a nice birthday present.(6 people 20 points each) :rotfl2:

I did make alot of new friends and would like nothing better then joining you again.

Billy and Terry :thumbsup2

Terry:

you know there will be no Bingo next year:rolleyes:  - can you handle that???: :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

So = now maybe you can afford to go. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Theresa - happy to hear you'll be calling in. A Mother/Daughter trip sounds like fun. I have to admit I'll miss seeing your little guy. He is too cute!

Billy/Terry - good luck on your decision. Would love to have you sailing with us again.

You know you can finance that maintenance fee so its not a big lump sum payment.

If I had the points to give I would but I'll be borrowing from 2009 myself.

Cheryl

Was talking to DH and told him I had read the itinerary wrond and that we were doing CC-Sea-CC. I thought this was going to be a deal breaker for him not stopping at an island. He has previously said he wants to go somewhere new.

Well he is now even more excited about the cruise. Go figure.

another week is almost past us.

I have been baking all day today for a bake sale at the Hospital tomorrow.

Not one of my favorite things to do. But I just set my mind to do it and started. UGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have almost finished packing for my cruise next week and almost ready to zip the suitcases up. All we have to do now is get Kaitlyn's ready.

Our weather is warming up a little and that is good. Even the swimming pool is cool and it is solar heated. But not solar heated enough for me.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Dial in day is nearing very close now.

Which night is cruise chat night? I haven't been to the chat room in a while and can't find the schedule. :confused3

I believe it is Friday nights at 9 pm.

Mary will pop in and let us know for sure.

She always gives the link for it and then we have to sign in.

Gary - Kay is correct. Cruise chat is Friday night at 9 pm Eastern, 8 pm Central, 7pm Mountain and 6 pm Pacific.

I always try to put up a chat add on the main cruise forum and also a link here on the thread.

Also we've been talking of opening up the chat room on Saturday morning the 17th for those who want to chat while trying to call in to get on the cruise. We did that a couple of years ago and ended up with 30 some people in chat!

The link to Chat is also in the red bar above the boards (next to User CP).

Amanda just called Member Services and found out that we can borrow points from 09 for the Member cruise. Put us on the list of people calling on the 17th and keep your fingers crossed

Annette :cool1:
