I saw the post about free dining. Thank goodness we are only there for 2 days of it. (9/18-9/20)

Disney Catering finally called back.

The Attic at boardwalk is a $2,500 food/beverage minimum.
Ariels at Boardwalk is a $1,000 food/beverage minimum.

Both only do buffet which runs around $80 per person. I say no go on this one.

Now the Illuminations Dessert Buffet looks like an option.

It will run around $30 per person depending on the menu. For those who don't want to pay for park admission, for $12.50 more, they will bring you into the International Gateway gate at the time of the buffet and take you to the party with no park admission required.

So what about Dinner at Cape May and an Illumination Desert Buffet. People can choose to do one or both.

Of course, this is based on availability at 90 days out. Apparently in Convention season, they want to allow the conventions first dibs on making these reservations.

Agree with the :scared1: on those prices! Mack and I would like to stay with Cape May and the option of the Illuminations dessert for those who want to do that. We would probably opt out of Illuminations/dessert, but this does seem to offer the greatest flexibility for everyone.

We just talked to DCL and Monday night is Pirate Night! Ahoy Maties!

I wonder why they haven't posted it on the site. So - what have the rest of you experienced on pirate night? How dressed up (pirate) do people get? I do remember some of the pictures.

My wife an I got really dressed up, some people do ... It's fun to be a pirate matey. If you look at Mary's page in the Photos you will see us you scurvy dog ! Aye its a sight to see. A great pirate party on the top deck and a treasure map for a menu matey. An keep a weathered eye out on the horizon for a special show!

Good morning everybody. Couldn't sleep any longer so here I set with a cup of coffee. I think the idea that Robin has is great but I will have to agree with what Joan said.
We think the gathering at Cape May would be just fine .
I don't think we could eat that much so soon .
Joan where did you see the post about free dining?
Is Roger staying home today to watch the home opener?
Well I see our state has finally agreed to go with the National ID.
Thank god we have our passports now so we wouldn't have much problem.
I think everybody has to have a pass port this year to get on the ship. Thats the way I understood it.
Everybody have a great day

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Mimi - people dress up in various levels. Linda has arranged a group picture on pirate night the last couple of cruises which is fun. We usually go more low key with POTC t-shirts. Some really go all our which is always fun to see. Do what makes you happy. I do know that many who do dress up use the costumes again at MNSSHP either before or after the cruise.

The only way to qualify for free dining is to pay rack rate (no discounts) for a room and park ticket. If you are staying on points, you don't qualify.

We did a low key Pirates Night outfit. I love to see others dressed up though. So do whatever your are comfortable with.

I think that doing just Cape May is fine. I would be too full to enjpy more desserts after eating Oreo Bonbons!

Thanks to Robin for arranging things. The dessert buffet sounds good - who doesn't like dessert! However, after talking it over we've decided we can only do one or the other. We will chose to do Cape May and skip the dessert buffet. To those of you who go to it have some chocolate for us! If we change our minds we'll let you know. By the way what time is the res. at Cape May?

My goodness we fell all the way to page 2. :)

Giving us a bump back up.

I presume this is the correct thread for the DVC Member cruise on Sept. 21, 2008. I was surprised to see so many messages but not a lot of details/questions related to the cruise.

We have been booked since the original opportunity and are looking forward to meeting other disboards folks. We had a wonderful experince with meeting disboards folks for the Med Cruise #3.

I heard that they raised the parking fees again.

It's not that far off! DW and DD are going again in Dec. 2008.

Cheers,
Smillingjack:yay: :cheer2:

Make all our dinner reservations last night, so exciting. Can't wait for O'hanas!:cool1:

Couldn't get into LeCellier at anytime, oh well, there's always next time.:sad1:

We are doing California Grill the night before we leave, the Cape May clam bake didn't appeal to us. We haven't decided about the Illuminations thing yet, depends upon time, price and what they have:confused3 .

Welcome! The conversation changes from cruise related to just getting to know each other based on what is going on. I'm sure as soon as DVC does some annoucement of theme etc. we'll be talking about it. In the meantime we've been talking about what to do the night before. There will be two DIS meets for this cruise. One the day before at the Beach Club in the late afternoon and then another on sailaway day at 3pm with the location still to be determined.

If you go to post #3 on page one you'll find some info and a link to the group web page.

If you have any questions ask away!

I noticed on the Member site there is still availability on the cruise. Is this the first time this has happened?

I'm not sure if the article was updated. I heard there were a few extra rooms last year. Maybe if there are extra rooms they could give out some "dream" upgrades.

oohh, I might just call in a see if my dd and I can get onboard for a mother/daughter trip. Does anyone have a link for the member cruise site or is it just the DVC site?

I booked exactly 180 days out and I couldn't get into Le Cellier the night I wanted (Friday, Sept. 19 was already booked), so I went with Saturday, the night before we leave. My sister really wanted to go there. Our reservation is for 7:55 so I don't believe we'll go to either Cape May or the dessert party.

They say a lot of people were booking early in the hopes of free dining. I guess everyone knows it did come through for anyone that might want to stay before the cruise.

Also booked Flying Fish (my favorite), Brown Derby (best in park restaurant), Ragland Road and Teppan Edo.

Thanks, I just checked it out. I am debating if we get onboard should I take my youngest ds. I just also realized this year they let you book up to three rooms vs. two room like last year.

Good morning everyone! Happy Wednesday!

It seems that on every Member Cruise we've been on there have been people who have gotten on the waitlist and ended up being called that a room was available. People cancel for a number of reasons. I do think this is the first time the cruise didn't sell out first.

Theresa it would be cool if you could sail with us again!
