09/18/11 - DVCers Take Over the Dream (S.S. Member Cruise 2011) - Thread #6

Well Deb and I knew this day was coming for the past few months. I think we decided that we are gonna put our dog "Pooh Bear" down before the Dismeet June 18th. So I guess now we need to figure out what we should feed her for her last meal. I'm thinking Filet Mignon, any suggestions?

I am so sorry to hear that. It isn't an easy decision to make but it is the kindest act of love we can do for our furry family members once their quality of life is gone. If Filet Mignon is her favorite then yes. Whatever her favorite yummy is, bring some with you to the vet or have it on hand if your vet comes to you so she can have one last bite. Bring her favorite toy, make sure she is surrounded by the family she loves when it is time to say goodbye. Don't let her see you cry. There will be plenty of time for tears later. She'll sense your emotions so hide your sorrow and focus on the 17 years of the unconditional love she gave her family. Hold her and tell her you love her just as the pink stuff is about to go in because she will be gone before the syringe is out. I've learned that with time the tears that come with the memories fade and are replaced by smiles somewhere along the way.

You probably missed about a thousand smilies (half from Junior aka Julio aka SteamBoatWillie - why does his name sound like the title to a police rap sheet?), entertainment, laughs, etc. Don't think there has been much news on the new ship lately, but we're probably going to see some reports from Wally & Terri and Milford & Shawn before too long. Oh and LilliansMommy also gave us some info from their Dream cruise. You might find the end of Thread 5 interesting. Andy pulled off the Pirate/Swan competition prank of the year (that's why the beginning of this thread is in disarray). jilljill did a good job keeping everyone happy, keeping Milford in control of our thread management while not losing any of the 'unofficial' Thread 6 conversation.

Good job on the recruitment ... hope (s)he finds their way here!
