I have in th epast taken my kids out of school. In elementary & middle it was fine. In HS if they missed days it was so hard to make up the work. With gradess being to important to get into college these days they worked their butts off. Both were involved in sports so they missed a few days here an there for districts etc. So need less to say during their HS days we did the expensive June & July cruises. Now that they are in college we can go in May. But next summer is spoken for, a friend of ours is being ordained as a priest in CA. So we will venture west. I am hoping to visit Yosemite. My kids have never been there. In 2008 I want to do an Alaksa cruise for our 25th. So I don't know when we will get back to DCL :sad2:

I do alot of talking about this vacation too. I have worked so hard to lose weight every one knows. I have reached my first goal!!!!!!! I am down 50 lbs. So when I get back I have 30 more plus what ever I gain on the ship  to get off. Then I need to meet a plastic surgeon to remove all the excess. I am too old for it to go back where it came from. Thank God for clothes!!!!!

Well I am off to Target with the youngest for stuff we have forgotten for college. After he downs a few bowls of cereal. He didn't bring any clean clothes home. So lucky for him a few loads are already finished.

Have a great Saturday. Two more and we will be cruising!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if you got an answer or not but this is how to post signs or any other picture.

Go to a picture posting site. I use photobucket. upload your sign, it should be saved as a .jpg file on your computer.
If you are using a program like photo-shop elements you will need to click "save as" under the file drop down.

When you photo/sign is loaded up on photobucket you will see 3 lines under each photo. copy the line in the box that is listed as IMG. Once you copy it you can paste it in your post. You can also past a photo in you signature like I have and Amanda has. It is real simple and is a lot of fun to share images. I am working on sign 3 but here are my two as an example.

Add Stargater to your list!!! We are so excited we just got our pirate costumes!!!!

Joanne, that is our plan too. We are going to take her out of school as long as it is reasonable, knowing that when she hits the higher grades, we will try to move vacations to when she is out of school.

But even so, I am nervous about telling her teacher about this year. Kelsey is going to miss 6 days of school. Last year, she overheard Kelsey talking about getting ready to go on a Disney cruise (last Sept), and she asked me about it. She seemed happy for us that we were going, but then again, she only missed 2 days of school, because they have some kind of Christian school conferences for 3 days every Sept, and we lucked up and picked the right week. We tried to do that again this year, but we REALLY wanted to do the double dip, so she is missing the whole week, plus the Friday before. But she is a very good student, and I'm going to request her extra work next week, and hopefully we can get alot done before we go, 'cause we ain't doin' homework on the cruise!

Gail- when I said get dressed- I meant put on T-shirts, etc so we don't freeze to death in the air. Sorry, should've been clearer. We usually go into Topsiders and bring the trays outside to eat so we don't get too cold. We're not air conditioning people.

And Asha, I don't think I'm ready to give up my Cruddiest Door Sign title yet. Wait til you see how cruddy mine are. Yours won't be nearly as bad.

And good news- we managed to get Sadie's gown to fit! It was another foot on the sink, Gone With the Wind moment, but with some adjustments- we got the gown totally zipped up! Somehow I cut my finger on the zipper, but if there's no drama, it's not vacation time in our household.

Sounds like we got a contest going here!

1. I talk about my vacation all the time because several of my co-workers are disney freaks like me. Well maybe not as much as me :earboy2:.

Amanda, you are lucky. Everyone where I work just :scratchin scratches their head when I talk about Disney. They think of Disney vacations as "doing it for the kids". Little do they know, it's not the child so much, as the adults in the family.

Is that another TOP for me? Yeah!

Well DH and I really get alot of :confused3 "Disney again?" because we don't have kids yet. And everone assumes that Disney is just for kids. How little they know! :teeth: Which is funny because it's the adults that pay for it all! :thumbsup2 Judy I just noticed that your from S.C. I was just in Charlston a few weeks ago. I love it there! I could eat at Hymen's and Sticky Finger everyday!

My DD will be missing six days also. Although the District is excusing them, she only has three days after she returns to get all written work in and make up any missed quizes and tests. I am getting her work before the cruise and she is going to work on it during the drive down and back up. I figure anything she has left, she can do Sunday while I am unpacking and doing laundry.

DD and I are the only Disney nuts we know. We all talk about where we are going on our vacations and stuff. Everyone I hand with regularly go to Las Vegas and Cancun and places like that. They just really don't understand how I could actually enjoy so much Disney. Most of them have done their parently duty and taken their kids to WDW once, but they say they will never go again. Someone on one of the parks threads said it best. To really enjoy Disney, adults have to forget that they are adults and just be kids again.

At this time, two weeks from now, we will be finishing up dinner, hopefully in Animator's We are hoping for APL rotation. If we don't get it, I may even try to get it changed once we are on board. I really wish they posted this with your reservation information on the DCL web site so that you would know before you board.

Gail, that is so funny. All day today my DD and I have been doing that: 2 weeks from right now....

Like: two weeks from right now we will be walking on the ship
Two weeks from right now we will waving bye to the people at the terminal, singing "Cel-e-brate good times come on!"

And so on.

Do you want to hear something really funny? I have been doing this off and on for over a year. I booked this cruise in May 2005. Right after that, I found this board for the first time. One of the first threads I read was a cruise meets thread for a group who was only a few weeks from their sail date, and they were all taking turns doing this and it went on several day. Everytime someone posted it began by saying what they would be doing at that exact day and time if they were on the ship. I enjoyed reading that so much. Ever since, as I research more and more and found out what I would be doing, DD and I have from time to time stopped and said what would we be doing if were on the cruise. It has become a game for us.

Guys, I just looked through the pictures in the photo gallery of all the food at Palo Brunch. How in the world will you decide what to eat? I wanted almost everything. If I try everything that I saw and thought I would like, I wouldn't be able to eat again for days, much less make it back to my Palo dinner that night.

I just looked at the long range forecast for Orlando and Cocoa Beach. For sailing day- it looks like sun and clouds, high around 88, and somewhat humid.

Let's keep up the good weather. :sunny: No hurricanes!

We've been doing the "in two weeks" thing too. We're leaving 9/11 to catch the Autotrain outside of Washington DC. So all week it's been, "in two weeks we'll be..." going to the train, eating dinner on the train, in the Volcano pool, at Magic Kingdom, etc.

Today, as Ernesto hit Philadelphia- all I could think of was please give us good weather! Still, a rainy cruise better than no cruise, and we've done Disney in the middle of a tropical storm but we'd love sunny and hot.

Julie

Another thing (just doing my bit to get our numbers up- usually I'd do it all in one post)- is there going to be a meet up at MNSSHP on Friday?

I'd love to do a Dis Meet at MNSSHP, but I know my DH; everytime we get to the Disney parks, he goes Commando on me, and we have to run and see everything and ride everything. He probably won't want to do the Dis meet.

I can't believe we are just 2 weeks away :woohoo: :hourglass :jumping1:

I can't believe I haven't started packing yet.

But I did tell DD that tomorrow we would go through her closet and make a list of what she would wear each night.

2 weeks from today, we will be at the first night's show.

Hey Amanda,

We live in Florence, about 2 hours away from Charleston. I love Charleston too, but we don't go very often. I think it's been a couple of years since we were there last.
