Will I be going to jail in January?? LOL

Assuming that your school system is organized the same as Kentucky, contact your local Board of Education. My school teacher and even principal told me that if I took my DD our for five days to go to WDW last year, the days would be unexcused and she would not be able to make up any of the work. I contacted the Superintendent at the Board of Education. He said that they were wrong. He said that the Kentucky State Board of Education recognizes the educational benefits of travel and has mandated that each school system excuse any absences for travel so long as the trip has an educational element to it. He had me prepare a parent's note attaching documentation showing were we going, and he made my daughter's school excuse due to the educational aspects of Animal King and Epcot. I have already taked to him about this cruise. She will miss another five days next year. I was told to just make at least one of my excursions educational. I am considering going to the Xcarat Park during the Cozumel stop. You should check into this.

GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!!! :sunny: RISE AND SHINE!!!!!!

I guess everyone is still in bed. We are getting ready to head to the gym. My DD has a basketball game today at 10:30. :cheer2: Then she is off to her father's for the night. She doesn't actually stay over ngiht with him very often and I am totally lost without her. It usually makes for a long night. This means that I will definitely be checking in to see what's going on later. I'll be keeping myself busy.

Certainly check into it - but many school systems do not - What you can always do is write a sick note - they cant argue with you even if they know you are going on vacation. . . What ever you say has to go. . . If you have a good teacher tell them the truth in a hypothetical manner - They might let you take some of teh make-up work so that coming back is not so overwhelming.

I posted this in one of my ohter threads but this is it in a nutshell. I thought since you were a teacher you could give me the "teachers" view?
I am either going to pull out all of my hair or turn to alcohol with this girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has gotten to the point where I just feel like, well if you dont care then I dont care. I know that is childish, but I am at my wits end. How can I get this child to do her homework? I have bought her an assg pad to keep track of her work, she doesn't use it. I keep getting notes from her teacher about her lack of homework........How can I make her do her homework when I dont know she has it? I wrote a long letter to the teacher asking for her help. I told her that Taylro has innattentive ADD and needs help staying ontask..I asked her to make sure Taylor writes the work down and get her to initial it...she wrote back saying that she would do that for a week or two, but she expected Taylor to bring it to her on her own after that??? That is the problem now, Taylor does not follow it through..She is in the 3rd grade. She is very smart. When she does do the work she gets A's and B's.....I dont know what to do. THe teacher has requested a conference with me..and I am a little irritated with her as well. Why wont she help my child?

That is horrible. The teacher should be willing to work with a child = particularly one with a special need. - Does you school have teacher websites? We are required to put or homework on our websites for parents - but we are also required to have an agenda time when students fill out their school supplied agendas. I would talk to the teacher and share your aggrivation with both the teacher and your DD. The teacher should be open and have some options/ modifications for EACH of you - not just you to try. If you do not get satisfactory results after meeting with her - contact the Special Needs coordinater - your child has educational rights that under federal law must be met due to her ADD. (and as a side note - third is a critical year seeing as the students must pass the CRCT in order to move to 4th) Hope this makes sense.

Good Morning People!!! :sunny: :cool1:
I am going to church today to clean our new building before the dedication tommorow!
Talk to you all soon!
Merry

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. It's a weekend and I don't have to run around and do errands for once. Sports are cancelled due to weather, and I refuse to go shopping in the cold rain.

About eleven more months to go. I can't wait to be on the Magic after our RCCL cruise.

Good Morning !!! :sunny: I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hey Amanda, do you have all of these great pictures saved somewhere on your computer just in case you get a chance to use them.

Hello all! Here is my question, Why do weekends go by so fast when you have so much to do, yet when you have nothing to do they drag!!!!! I already know the answer to those questions I just wanted to ask again hoping that I get a better answer. Heppy to hear that everyone is having a good weekend. Amanda I love the toliet cleaning picture! Classic! And gssmks congradulations on your DD's game! :cheer2:

The days to the trip are starting to speed up for me as well. I started this diet with my hubby so we keep waiting for our weight in day to see how we did. I am going on the cruise weather I am large, small or medium but it sure would be nice to fit into the dress I want to bring.

My SIL and her girlfriend just got back from a 7day cruise and they gained about 20 pounds per person. So I was a bit shocked :earseek: Which means I will gain 30 the way my luck is.

Have any of you started planning your dresses for formal night? alldresses.com has a great amount at a decent price.

Think this is the most I have ever typed hehe.

Kristin

Hello everyone. Another day gone, and one more day closer to the cruise. Kristin, I haven't thought about dresses yet. I want to try to lose some weight also. We are going to Disneyland in the Spring. I hope to lose it before then. I am a little ashamed to admit that I have purchased some things for the cruise though. I've been reading some of the other threads to get some ideas. I bought one of those over the door shoe hangers (everyone seemed to recommend that), a clock that has lighted numbers, a kit to make my DD a Disney Princess autograph book, a disney character pillow case for character autographs and I bought some of the magnetic strips to make door decorations. I know...........it's way to early to be buying things, but I have a huge closet and I am just so excited.
