Kelly,

Thanks for posting the pictures. One is nicer then the other. Those Costumes are gorgeous! Allot of work went into them.

I know were they are performing. I have been up and down WI with my DS playing baseball for MSOE. We have even driven almost for hours away to a collage called Lakeland to see him play.

Have a good day.

Hey, Kelly,
Love the photos. My daughter was 12 when she auditioned in NYC for the School of American Ballet, the official school of the NYC Ballet. She is now 39,, but it seems like yesterday. We live in the Amish country in PA and there are horse and buggies everywhere, including a special place at our Walmart to tie up the horses...and we left here from Lancaster PA via train and ended up in NYC within 2 hours. It was amazing. Like you said, she was the big fish in the sea at home, but lost in a sea of beautiful bodies at SAB. She was being taught here at home by a former dancer from the Joffrey, and had true Russian training. The audition was done by Russian teachers and a big part of it was taking her leg and making sure it would go above her head...they kept saying, Dah Dah...and then it was over. It was really breathtaking seeing those beautiful dancers. She was accepted into the school and lived for the summer in NYC on Riverside Dr in an apartment that was subletted by actors with one of the soap operas. I was afraid that she would be hit by a car or something...but she survived. She lived with a 15 year old girl for the summer...she got to meet Barishnikov who came to take class, and George Balanchine. It was something that most dream of. But, at 13 she injured her back and it got so bad that at 17 she had a spinal fusion done. That ended dance for her. But, she is an occupational therapist and she has such empathy for others. She and her husband also adopted a baby boy from Russia, and she was able to see the Bolshoi while she was in Russia. All things happen for a reason.

Well, I had both of my knees replaced on 11/20 and I am hoping that by the time this cruise comes around I will be 100%. I am 58, and I couldn't take the pain anymore. I am an RN and I think that all my years on cement floors added to my problem. My rehab is going well, but my left knee is much more painful than my right. I am so excited about this cruise...I love Disney. I get teary eyed each and every time I am in WDW thinking of Walt and his dreams and his talent, and all who contributed to his dream.

Looking for ward to meeting everyone. I will have to add my and DH's name and room number as soon as I can find where I put it!!!

I am enjoying reading this thread. Blessings to all.
Susan

Good morning everyone - happy Tuesday. Going to be a fun day for me - not! I'm having a colonoscopy screening tomorrow. That means today is prep day which I hear is the worst part. :) So clear liquids only for me today and then tonight I get to drink the cleaning fluid. What fun!

Mary, been there, done that, have to go again. The prep is absolutely the worst part, and the severity depends on your doctor. When I went, I (5'2") had to drink 1 gallon of glop; DH (6'4") only had to drink 1/2 gallon. The actual procedure is a piece of cake after the prep work. Good luck, though, and may they find only normal stuff. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Hi Susan! Thanks for sharing your story about your daughter. What an awesome experience for her to dance with the SAB. And meeting Barishnikov and George Balanchine - that is amazing!

My daughter has taken classes at the Joffrey in Chicago - your daughter must've had some amazing training behind her to be taught by one of their instructors!

I'm having a hard time as she gets older knowing that I will have to send her away for some of the summer intensives soon. It must've been an agonizing time for you. But the experiences she gained were probably well worth it in the long run. How tragic about her injury! You have such a great attitude about it though - things do have a way of working out how they're supposed to. But after all that work and training I can't even imagine the blow to your daughter at the time. You have done a great job of keeping her grounded for her to so successfully overcome such a setback.

Courtney was invited to join her studio on a trip to Austria this spring to take dance classes in Salzburg and Vienna. I couldn't stomach sending her alone, so Cory and I will be tagging along too. I know eventually I'll have to give her wings. But right now I'm just holding on tight. There comes a time where the dance training just takes on a life of its own!

I hope you are all healed and 100% in time for the cruise. It'll be great to meet up with you and all the wonderful people on this board. Nothing like a warm vacation with fun people and a little Disney magic!

Tips for the 4 main positions are included (Head Server, Server, Asst. Server, and Room Steward). These are the positions you get the little envelopes for at the end of the cruise. On the Member Cruise you still get these but you also get vouchers for the positions stating what tip has been given each position. You then have the option to add additional to the envelope if any of these people go above and beyond as they often do.

You will still want to budget tips for the porters and for room service if you plan on using it. Anything you get at a bar or from the servers who walk around Castaway Cay will have a tip automatically added and you just sign for it. Hope this helps.

See, that's what I love about this place.:) I gave you what I considered to be the answer but Mary finished up with everything else. I guess that's why she is a Mod on this Board. ;)

Mary - I'll spare the details til tomorrow when you can let us know how it all worked out (literally):lmao: I had one in November and have another one scheduled for later this year. Since I have Crohn's I need to have this procedure once a year. Good luck and pixiedust:

Kelly - I love the pictures of your daughter. She and the young gentleman standing next to her are absolutely adorable.

Wow Susan! What an honor that must've been for your daughter! That's amazing. pixiedust: and hoping you will be walking and at 100% by the time the cruise comes along. Are you doing any form of physical therapy or are you still on pain meds? I hurt my back in June 2007 and had major surgery in June 2008. In October we did a 4-night on the Wonder and I was in a wheelchair. This year, I am determined to be cane-free by this summer! I'm sure you will be fine too.

It is nice to meet everyone and I am looking forward to catching up with people I've met on prior cruises as well as getting to know all of you. I got to know Mary (and Mark) from the DVC board and before I knew it, we were cruising with them on a member cruise! This is a great place to get to know people with similar intersts before the cruise. Many of us are also on Facebook too. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link but I'm sure Mary will let me know. That's just another way to get to know people.

Well, it's 11:45pm and it looks like it's going to be another one of those nights! If I can't sleep I'll be posting again. It seems like Flo and I keep the same hours. :hourglass I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not but true just the same.

So Sad! :sad2: You guys were good!

How do you even become a Mod on the boards. I have been woundering since I joined. Just curious. Hope I am not breaking any rules by asking.

Have a good day! That is after your test.
