Glad you found out what is going on with the internet.:) But you think they would have told you.

Chris, we have had rain here since about midnight. It is still raining now. This afternoon it is supposed to change to snow. They are saying 1 to 2 inches. But the wind is supposed be 25. That is going to be a killer.

Glad you made it to work. That has to be scary with the hills and that.

Yep, pretty scary. Hopefully you don't get all the ice. Area schools around here are closed today and the office is very quite. Our sidwalks look like ice skating rinks. I can't wait for the drive home today.

And yeah, the internet is going to cost around $200 to upgrade :scared1: And yes, it would have been nice if they would have told us. Not just cut us off cold turkey. It is really driving me nuts at home.

Well, have to go back to work. Lunch time is over.

Chris,

To do this around the holiday it would have been nice to send out something to people letting them know they may have to spend about 200.00.:) Hope you can get it up and running today.:wizard:

You know it is bad when they close schools and things. :grouphug: for a safe trip home.

I just popped in to take a peek and see what was happening on this thread. My timing was perfect because I saw the picture of Mary & friends at BLT. I'd forgotten you were going down there. I notice you had a jacket on -was it that cold? I also read your explanation of pancake bunny/sisters. While I wasn't an original pancake sister I was at the table at Palo when that picture was taken. What a hoot! I am now a sister - Doxie is the name! Finally, I remember the head server who wanted the swan - neither of us can remember his name either but if it comes to me I'll pop in & let you know. And Mary, hope you jury duty goes well. Is this your first time? Both of us have had it once in our lives & I was on 2 trials. It's an interesting experience. All of you in snow country - take it easy on slippery roads.

Hello everyone from the Disney Magic!

Thought I would pop on and tell you all that the Head Server (name escapes me at the moment) from the Member Cruise who so wanted a Swan and was presented with one is on the Magic now. He recognized Karen and I as being familiar so we started chatting.

I don't recall his name either - something Slavic, as he was from Sarajevo (Bosnia)

Hi everyone! Checking in after a day of jury duty....I got picked. So now I'm on a jury that is supposed to go until next Tuesday.
As for the bunny with the pancake. Well Mark has used that little smilie for a long time. One day on the 2008 thread we were talking about something and he threw it in. It was a big hit. Then one night in chat one of the ladies talked about her name at the adventures club and how we should have name...So Trixie, Dixie, Pixie and Mixie were born. We dubbed ourselves the pancake sisters. Then we talked about meeting at Beach Blanket one day and putting pancakes on our head. Well we had the opportunity in Palo at Brunch. Three of them were in the private room. We asked waiter for pancakes and waxed paper and this is what we got:

36347pancake.jpg

The other ladies are all on the 10/24/09 BOB cruise and have added some more pancake sisters. So the bunny is in my signature as a not to my pancake sisters.

What a day for me to check in on this thread and say hello! I opened up to this page and saw my sisters!!!! I miss all of you and that wonderful time we had in Palo. I am ready to sail again! Yes, we have added some sisters - a big family is wonderful!

Mary - I didn't even get picked for questioning for jury duty. I had the most fun waiting though. I sat there with my little notebook writing about all the people I saw, creating characters for them - they'll show up in my novels one day!

Good morning everyone! Happy Wednesday!

I was wiped last night after getting home so while I read quickly I just wasn't up for replying. The weather yesterday was very nasty. The trial is interesting but sitting in one place all day long is hard. At least at work I get up and more around more than this. The one good thing is I am getting in at least a mile walk each way to/from the courthouse after getting off the train.

So nice to see our 2008 Member Cruise friends check in. Nancy the picture was taken up here in IL. A mall out by Flo's house in Schaumburg, IL has a DVC store called Doorway to Dreams. That is where the DIS meet was held.

Ellen - pardon my faulty memory. Are you and Tom sailing with us? I thought yes but I'm not sure.

Mary,

I agree with you, it is hard to sit in one place.:) and at least at work you get to get up and do something. I am not the type of person that likes to sit in one place.

:wizard: to a better day for you. Maybe you will be lucky and it iwll be over before Tuesday.

Take care.

Chris,

How is the internet at home?

Hope the streets by you are getting better. We ended up with about 2 inches of snow here. It is not supposed to snow again till Thursday and just flurries. It is cold about 15 right now.

I don't know how you Northeners handle cold, but us southern Californians are wimps. I went to leave the house for work this morning at 5 am, and it was 39 degrees outside, and believe me, for us that is a little too cold. I couldn't help but shiver & shake until my car heater warmed me up.
So again, I feel for you all with all the bad weather you're getting, there is no way I could handle it.

just had to chime in.

Well, they are supposed to come fix/upgrade next Tuesday. That is the soonest they could come. Boy it is going to be a long wait!!! Right now I am at work and can only get on for short periods of time. Thanks for asking.

The roads this morning absolutely sucked!!! It was just like an ice skating rink. They were so shiny. And our school ran on time!:scared: But we took the girls to school so the bus driver didn't have to come down our hill. The only thing is they have to ride it home. Hopefully the sun will come out and start melting the ice today.

It is also about 15 here this morning too. But they say a warm up by this weekend. :woohoo: Up to like 35-40.

Happy Wednesday!!

That is why when we go to Florida or California and it is in the 60's we are walking around with out a jacket or sweater while the locals have them on.

Not that I loke the cold weather. I have leved here all my life and I still am not used to it. But it is a part of living here.

New England weather!!

The other day we had a high of 22 degrees, this morning I woke up and it was already 60 degrees:confused3

I am kind of starting to miss our snowy weather. Hopefully it will correct itself soon.

DVC Annual Meeting notes - 12/9/09

Here are my brief notes from the DVC Annual Meeting.

2009 Budgets were adopted

Audit Presentation by the external auditors

American Resort Development Associaton (ARDA) presentation. Voluntary $1 donation to the ARDA PAC. DVC has joined ARDA.

Vero Beach Easement - MGD Development wants to built on an adjacent property and wants to purchase a strip of VB land to build a driveway to State Road A1A. Will pay DVC $776,690. DVC will use some of this to construct new basketball/tennis courts; balance will be applied to reduce future dues.

Statement was made that DVC is strong financially. Average DVC member who takes out a loan to purchase has a FICO score of 710. The average default rate on loans is just 2%

The Hawaii resort will begin selling in the summer of 2011 and will open in the summer of 2012.

Jim Lewis apologized for the way the OKW extension was handled. He said the opt-out method was the wrong approach and he promised they will do things differently if other resorts are extended.

Jim Lewis mentioned how members complain that they can’t book on points but can book via cash. He mentioned they are looking at ways to reduce the number of rooms turned over to CRO during peak DVC times. He also asked members to book as early as possible.

Regarding the switch from II to RCI, he said this was due to several reasons. RCI is the largest exchange company with the most number of resorts, they have more all-inclusive resorts, they have more higher-end (such as fractional) resorts, and they have better technology. He also said RCI just negotiated a much better deal than II. He mentioned that DVC is not concerned with the class-action lawsuit against RCI, as they believe it has no merit.

Regarding housekeeping, Lewis stated that he recognizes it’s not perfect and there is an opportunity for improvement. He asked members to be patient. He also asked members that instead of writing a letter to DVC after they get back home, to complain on the spot to give DVC the ability to rectify the problems.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse made a brief appearance.

Announcement of the new DisneyNature film company which will focus on nature documentaries. The first film will be called Earth and will be released on Earth Day 2009.

They replayed the Dee Vee Cee video that was released when BLT was announced. They mentioned the Travel Channel show on DVC. They played a video of the DVC SS Member Cruise. They mentioned how AFV is offering a DVC membership as a grand prize this year.

They mentioned how DVC placed #1 in hospitality in the Media Matrix ratings, and how 91% of DVC members are extremely or very satisfied with their membership.

They mentioned how DVC members would be able to take advantage of the new Online Check-in.

The various DVC GM’s discussed what upgrades they’ve completed in 2008, and what’s coming in 2009. VB mentioned a soft goods refurb that is underway, as well as flat panel TVs. HHI also mentioned flat panel TVs. BWV talked of room refurbs and flat panel TVs. VWL talked of flat panel TVs and new patio furniture, and also highlighted the completed soft goods refurb. BCV talked of a soft goods refurb. An OKW refurb is scheduled for 2010. The feature pool at SSR will be refurbed next year.

WDI Resort Projects discussed the ongoing construction at Kidani Village, Treehouse Villas (Jim Lewis made a side comment that when his boss first approached him and asked him to turn the old treehouses into a DVC project, he was less then thrilled), BLT, VGC, and Hawaii.

That’s all I have, as I had to run out to catch MVMCP

Monday afternoon when I came out of school it was 14, this morning it was 52! But the temp is dropping and another storm is approaching.

OK Mary, that explains the jacket!

Ellen, good to see you. I don't remember the fellow's name either but I think you're right about the nationality. Maybe Gary will remember the next time he posts pirates & swans.

Hi Nancy

We are not supposed to be getting any snow from this next one, but I believe you will up in Maine.

Be Safe

The weather here in So. MD was unusually warm today. It was in the 60s but tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 40s.
